James. Posted 6 January 2009 Posted 6 January 2009 My young persons railcard expired on 23rd December 2008. I am 26. I can't renew it. How much for a "super" off peak return to Leicester now? £47. £47. Gutted.
Flynny Posted 6 January 2009 Posted 6 January 2009 Still not got round to getting one, which is really stupid the amount I have to use the train. Can you not just sleep with someone who works in the railcard-making place or something?
Alexikokopops Posted 6 January 2009 Posted 6 January 2009 Singles from £12 though. £24 return if you plan ahead. Pipe down granddad
Monk Posted 6 January 2009 Posted 6 January 2009 Yep, this happened to me in August last year. Absolutely gutted, a regular ticket to go from London to Oakham is amost £50. Hence I haven't been to many home games this season. However, having just discovered Megatrain I think there is finally a way through it, you just have to plan. Or get a job at Virgin it seems.
skinnydipper Posted 6 January 2009 Posted 6 January 2009 Don't worry ,I have a plan All you have to do is make someone pregnant and 9 months later you'll be able to use one of these http://www.familyandfriends-railcard.co.uk/ Think of it, 1/3 off for a whole year WARNING; Associated costs of following plan may outweigh savings on fares

James. Posted 6 January 2009 Author Posted 6 January 2009 Right I'm of to impregnate my girlfriend/Alex. In the meantime I just managed to source a return trip to Leicester this weekend for £32. I arrive in Leicester at 13:30 on Saturday so if anyone is doing any pre-match drinking let me know.

Virgin Trains don't go to Leicester. I get most of my cheap tickets by booking at sensible time. Only one of my tickets out of the four I bought was Virgin Trains. £6.60 from Marylebone to Leamington at 1350 on Friday? Thankyou Chiltern Railways. Oh, and I'm getting to Leicester at 12:50 so I'm keen as mustard on some drink action.
Monk Posted 6 January 2009 Posted 6 January 2009 You should probably get a Cappucino in for Raj as well then! Wish I could make it
Flynny Posted 6 January 2009 Posted 6 January 2009 National Express is half decent occasionally. Guaranteed a seat, easier with luggage, and just cost me £14.90 from here to Bristol.
Finnegan Posted 6 January 2009 Posted 6 January 2009 National Express is half decent occasionally. Guaranteed a seat, easier with luggage, and just cost me £14.90 from here to Bristol. Good lad, Flynny, conveniently forget to mention the extra 2549723 hours journey time and 295927834 extra degrees in heat.
Flynny Posted 6 January 2009 Posted 6 January 2009 Good lad, Flynny, conveniently forget to mention the extra 2549723 hours journey time and 295927834 extra degrees in heat. Takes half an hour longer and its freezing outside. I can take more luggage. 3 1/2 hours is nothing really.
Alexikokopops Posted 6 January 2009 Posted 6 January 2009 I'm a big fan of Flynny. Stay at mine after Palace. Make him miss his train back to Bristol. He will be forced to stay. I spy a three way spoon...
Flynny Posted 6 January 2009 Posted 6 January 2009 I'm a big fan of Flynny. Still coming to the Rovers game? Sort it. Stay at mine after Palace. Make him miss his train back to Bristol. He will be forced to stay. I spy a three way spoon... Is this going to look like lemonparty but with three manly studs instead of old guys? I'm staying with my dad if the worst comes to the worst, though he's a bit of a dick so I'd rather not have to.
The People's Hero Posted 6 January 2009 Posted 6 January 2009 When is the Rovers game, Flynn? Am I still alright to stay at your digs? If so, I'm probably in like the proverbial... well, you.

No idea exactly who or how many are coming so far but if my floor gets full (capacity:2, I shit you not) the kitchen upstairs has loads of comfy chairs that line up nicely. That, or my bed... I hope C-man's still coming/staying.
Lillehamring Posted 6 January 2009 Posted 6 January 2009 i actually had a YPRC in my early 30s, as i was a full time student, so perhaps you won't have to have that family just yet, you can do another degree, or a masters - can you imagine how shit your music taste will be if you have a masters

Alexikokopops Posted 6 January 2009 Posted 6 January 2009 The best we can bring to the table (I assume it will take place on a table) is enthusiasm and a pair of smelly willii. Sadly not four Jimmy Willii either.
