Marshall retires after leg injury

Lee Marshall

Marshall broke his leg while on loan at Hull

West Brom midfielder Lee Marshall has been forced to retire after failing to recover from a serious leg injury.

The 26-year-old fractured both the tibia and fibula in his right leg last April during a loan spell at Hull.

The former England U-21 star struggled on his return for the reserves two months ago and has decided to retire.

Marshall said: "I'm gutted my professional career has come to an end so early and it is going to take me some time to come to terms with it."

Bugger me, really?

Well best of luck to him but it isn't exactly like he's going to be short of money is it?

He looked sharp at Hull playing at right back.

It was an horrific injury which no footballer deserves.

Apart from Roy Keane that is.

Aaah, jealousy is such a terrible thing you know.

He'll be well looked after due to insurance payouts and early retirement pension and good luck to him. Hope your career prospects don't end suddenly at 26.

I must be one of few who actually thought he was an OK (not special, not crap, but OK) player. Its sad to see when someone has to retire through injury. Best of luck to him.

he was getting ok towards the end of the relegation season, during warm ups i noticed matt elliott giving him a talking to most games.

i think he just took the on pitch anger that should of been aimed at the former manager and we didn't have akinbiyi to moan at anymore.

best of luck to the lad

Hated the guy, worst player to ever wear the shirt, still it's a bad injury and like many have said, I wouldn't wish it on anyone, I wish him a speedy recovery, but the main thing is his crapness won't ever offend a football pitch again.

i totally disagree with you! He was not a immensly talented player i grant you but he always worked hard unlike some city players over the years and we have defently done worse. lso you have to blame the man that brought him. You guess it  Peter Taylor!!! You cant blame him he was not good enough but if a prem club say they will pay you good money to play at that level then you WILL take it! He was not going to say i dont wanna come i am not good enough was he! <_<

Loved it when he took the ball round 3 Tottenham players and then Dickov took a first time shot off his toe. All that hard work and then someone nicked the ball off him and got the glory. :D Actually scored a cracking goal in the 'farewell to Filbert Street game'. Shame it didn't count for anything by then. Good luck to him in the future but for us he couldn't hack it playing anywhere in the back four or the midfield four.

Add John Curtis, Nathan Blake ( for what he has done so far..) , Kalac.

I saw the 'Farewell to Filbert Street' goal, it was actually a cracker and he scored a similar one for West Brom when he joined them.

Never quite did it at Leicester but I wish him no harm good luck for the future Lee!

What I mean by worst player i've seen in a City shirt its as long as ive been properly attending matches regularly (since 2000), he was a donkey. Pressmans not all bad, his kicking was good and he made some of the best saves ive ever seen, Ian Walkers made a few high profile howlers so why dont you stick him on your list?

this isn't a 'debate keepers' thread but over all i would say ian walker is a far better keeper over his career with us than pressman has been.

lee marshall, as i remember it was bought as one of peter taylors 'one for the future' brigade and was brought in much earlier than anyone wanted. he was bad, but he was improving.

Blake has been one of the worst so far, but he has done well everywhere else in his career therefore I believe he should be given another chance.
