Louise Posted 23 April 2005 Posted 23 April 2005 Walker Kenton Dublin McCarthy Maybury Hughes Gudjonsson Nalis Tiatto de Vries Connolly ETA: Subs: Hirschfeld, Williams, Gillespie, Stearman, Moore
Mark Posted 23 April 2005 Posted 23 April 2005 Gudjonsson dropped from the 16 last match, now he suddenly starts No Dawson as usual, despite being a much better option to Joey, horrible central midfield And no width
Mark Posted 23 April 2005 Posted 23 April 2005 Sunderland team.. Alnwick, Wright, Caldwell, Breen, Arca, Lawrence, Robinson, Whitehead, Welsh, Stewart, Brown. Subs: Ingham, Deane, Thornton, Elliott, D Collins Debut for 18 year old goalkeeper Alnwick
Louise Posted 23 April 2005 Author Posted 23 April 2005 I want Hughes in the middle, and Jordan playing
Simon Posted 23 April 2005 Posted 23 April 2005 I really do not understand that midfield at all. Looks like one of the worst possible permutations
Fez of Mahrez Posted 23 April 2005 Posted 23 April 2005 Walker Kenton Dublin McCarthy Maybury Hughes Gudjonsson Nalis Tiatto de Vries Connolly ETA: Subs: Hirschfeld, Williams, Gillespie, Stearman, Moore 97450[/snapback] Poor team. Nalis and Gudjonsson will have to bring out their very rarely-seen A game. Same goes for de Vries. Maybury still at left back. I don't know, I'm not overly hopeful but we'll see. UTC
breadandcheese Posted 23 April 2005 Posted 23 April 2005 Can see why Levein has chosen Gudjonsson (plenty of energy as Craig said). Shame that is all he offers. Let's be honest, it would be a brave thing to do to play Nalis, Williams and Hughes together against a team that should boss the midfield and dictate play. It's a case of being backed into a corner. Let's be honest, it is clear from his recent ommission against cardiff that Gudjonsson is not Levein's first-choice. It is simply a tactical judgement, rather than being based on player ability. Personally, I would rather see Kenton replaced by Stearman. Defensively, Kenton is distinctly average and offers nothing spectacular. Attacking-wise, he doesn't get up the flanks enough and when he does, chooses the wrong options. In short, I hope we don't sign Kenton in the summer.
Louise Posted 23 April 2005 Author Posted 23 April 2005 If we win today and Brighton lose we could be mathmatically safe....
dynamite foxes Posted 23 April 2005 Posted 23 April 2005 When we played Nalis Hughes and Williams we won against Millwall. I would like Williams instead of Nalis and Stearman instead of Kenton but hey I am not the manager

Put 5 in there and MDV/Connolly alone up front...it worked against Charlton and nearly worked against Blackburn

Mark Posted 23 April 2005 Posted 23 April 2005 4-5-1 is too negative shen and Simon. I've hardly seen any team play with 1 up front in this division, definately none of the top 6, we have to stick with at least 2 up there otherwise we're going nowhere fast.

I just really dont rate Gudjonnson at the moment and we could seriously do with the width in terms of Gillespie. I'm still surprised Jordan's not back in the squad, although maybe hes not fit again as I think Tiatto's been disappointing recently.

We have to play negative against teams we know are better than us. It's boring but it is tactically the most apt way of dealing with it. I would rather we draw 0-0 than get trounced (which I think we will with this line-up)...
davieG Posted 23 April 2005 Posted 23 April 2005 In reality it's a 432 formation with Tiatto given the licence (I presume) from CL to roam, the only width will be achieved by Kenton and Maybury going forward around a midfield of 3.

In fact, I think he is a shocking player and we would do to get rid of him in the summer. However, we will need him a game like today. Whitehead is key for them in midfield. He has been awesome all season, getting from box-to-boxand driving them forward. We need someone to stop him. Gudjonsson will provide the energy to track and hassle him from box to box. Meanwhile, Nalis does track opposing players (one of the few things he offers over Williams). In that respect, I can see the tactical resoning in playing both Nalis and Gudjonnson. Hopefully, next season, we will never have to debate this because both will be gone
Chimp Posted 23 April 2005 Posted 23 April 2005 CL is playing it safe, he's playing what I'd describe as an uninspiring but stable team.
Wellman Posted 23 April 2005 Posted 23 April 2005 Come on City, not the best looking side CL's put out today imo but lets not start slagging him off before we've kicked off!!! COME ON LEICESTER!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Chimp Posted 23 April 2005 Posted 23 April 2005 Is that Nalis on the radio? Damn, what a weird accent, half french half Braunstone....
