Top 15 songs of all time.

Recommended Posts

After all my effort - so selfish!

I don't mean it like that and I'm still very grateful for it.

It's just if legend himself were to ever browse through the fine pages of Foxestalk and find that I'd devoted so much space to his handsome features then he might take out a restraining order against me. :(

Hmmmm....add in:

Oasis - I Can See A Liar / Won't Let You Down

Pendulum - Slam

Embrace - My Weakness Is None Of Your Business

The Beatles - Ticket To Ride

Free - Wishing Well

Eric Clapton - Tears In Heaven

The Killers - Mr. Brightside

Hard-fi - Stars Of CCTV

Feeder - Just The Way I'm Feeling

I could go on but I doubt it'll win me the silver medal

Hey! That's more than fifteen! Stop cheating!:P

I make myself number 1.

And charliefox you can be number 2.

My thread. My Rules

:P .

Libertine if it makes you happy you can be number 3.

Excuse me, but who the hell do you think you are, eh?

Waltzing into MY Music forum and thinking you own the place.

It's not on FF, it really isn't.

Prepare for a backlash at the hands of my followers.

15 is tough--not because I listen to a ridiculous amount of music, but because after the first few songs it's hard to compare the rest of the best. I'm only sure that numbers 1 and 2 fit their respective spots--anything else is in no particular order.

#1: Deer Park - The Fall

#2: Mission Bells- The Aislers Set

1966 and All That - Half Man Half Biscuit

Thumbs Off - The Clean

I'll Believe in Anything - Wolf Parade

Here I Am (Come and Take Me) - Al Green

Romance - Josef K

Where Were You? - Mekons

By The Time I Get to Arizona - Public Enemy

Optimistic - Radiohead

Notty No Jester - Big Youth

Nighttoad - Kleenex

Igel - LiLiPUT

Tisko - LiLiPUT

Dolly Dollar - LiLiPUT

I'm pretty sure the first 11 I wrote down would fill in my top 11, but after that, there's just a large gray area. The Fall are my favorite group, but after "Deer Park," choosing the next best song is like a mother choosing what's her favorite child.

I'm shocked that I couldn't find a place in the top 15 for anything by the Ramones, The Clash, the Beatles, Crass or Joy Division.

And yes, I really, really like the band that began as "Kleenex" and renamed to "LiLiPUT."

Yeah, I think they were all part of that San Francisco indie pop scene. I don't know Dear Nora as well as The Aislers Set, but I think the former is still going while the latter is disbanded. I think I'll try to find some DN songs this week and compare the two.

Amy Linton moved to Brooklyn, NY and occasionally does DJ sets or plays acoustic AS songs around NYC; these events have become less common recently but luckily I got to see Linton play a few songs two years ago.

The Aislers Set did a great Peel Session a while back; it's around somewhere online. I also came across CDs a few years ago from Linton's pre-Aislers Set band, Henry's Dress: really loud, lo-fi pop songs. Good stuff.
