Samilktray Posted 20 March 2009 Posted 20 March 2009 Man City should be beating Hamburg if they wanna challenge for the Champions League places in the future. 2nd rate German team.
Joe. Posted 20 March 2009 Posted 20 March 2009 Man City will get done by Hamburg comfortably I reckon.
Uncle Albert Posted 20 March 2009 Posted 20 March 2009 Wasn't it Schalke, Twente, Real Racing Club and PSG in the group? May be wrong though. To be honest with Man City's away record this season I think they'll do well to progress beyond this round. Thats the one Schalke. Were Hamburg in Villa's group? Well that changes everything then, maybe Man City to go through on Penalties again then.
Darkzzz_ Posted 20 March 2009 Posted 20 March 2009 This is a tough draw, anyone of these could win it. I can see Werder doing some damage.
Floating Fox Posted 22 March 2009 Posted 22 March 2009 This is a tough draw, anyone of these could win it. I can see Werder doing some damage. Werder are just so damn unpredictable. Their away end at St.Etienne looked class tho.
Katy Posted 22 March 2009 Posted 22 March 2009 If PSG get Marseille in the semis, I recommend people to go, I saw that game years ago and remains one the the greatest football experiences I've ever had. PSG are going nowhere they way they are going
syston_fox Posted 23 March 2009 Posted 23 March 2009 Tickets are only £5 for the Man City v Hamburg game..... anyone fancy driving me? Ahem.

lcfc_jme Posted 23 March 2009 Posted 23 March 2009 Tickets are only £5 for the Man City v Hamburg game..... anyone fancy driving me? Ahem. Meh, bet they're in the Man City end.. Nothing like the tickets I should be getting (with a lot of help from a certain someone) in the Hamburg end for the same game. :w00t:

lcfc_jme Posted 23 March 2009 Posted 23 March 2009 Andy did say he'd already asked for some, guessing that's who you mean. Who else but the cotton-haired German would pull off a major stunt like this during my Easter break?! Heroic.
Katy Posted 23 March 2009 Posted 23 March 2009 Tickets are only £5 for the Man City v Hamburg game..... anyone fancy driving me? Ahem. Is the home leg the week before Easter or the week after?
syston_fox Posted 23 March 2009 Posted 23 March 2009 Is the home leg the week before Easter or the week after? 16th april Doubt you will get tickets for the away end Jamie and co - Hamburg requested 6000 and City turned them down ad gave them a small allocation
lcfc_jme Posted 23 March 2009 Posted 23 March 2009 16th aprilDoubt you will get tickets for the away end Jamie and co - Hamburg requested 6000 and City turned them down ad gave them a small allocation Hmm.. Pretty shit really, but we'll see. Andy is apparently in correspondence with Man C, Hamburg and Hamburg UK so fingers crossed and all that! If not, I'm sure we'll make the trip up anyway and get as close to the away end as possible. Would still be an experience, that's for sure!

lcfc_jme Posted 23 March 2009 Posted 23 March 2009 I'm looking at going but trains are looking problematic at the minute if i can get time off work Aye can't see me going by train for it I wouldn't think.. Seeing as Andy has brought it up, I'm guessing it'd be him driving down there.. Well, it better be anyways! Reckon Hamburg will turn them over as well, so their fans should be in fine form.

I fancy Man City to win the home leg as they are excellent at the COMS at the moment and the return of Bojinov up front has given them yet another attacking outlet. Hamburg will win in Germany, City will win in Manchester.... could well be down to away goals.

Any cup tie is risky when it faces the possibility of extra time, so unless there's a driver, there's no games. As for the game itself, yes Man City are strong at home but Hamburg are no pushovers really. On paper you'd expect Man City to win because of their home record, but their form in Europe is rather sketchy and unpredictable. They've yet to be seriously tested like I expect them to be in this tie. Result doesn't bother me either way, I'm just going out to enjoy the day. Better than sitting on my arse watching it on the telly, anyway!

Better than sitting on my arse watching it on the telly, anyway! It's certainly got the potential to be a quality cup tie. If Andy is driving and willing to take another passenger then let me know. I was tempted by the away leg in Hamburg but the one night trip was £275 I think and that didn't even include the match ticket
dandannieldanok Posted 23 March 2009 Posted 23 March 2009 I don't know how much Man City charge normally but the pricing for this is extremely good, £5 for a European quarter final is unbelievably cheap. Well done Man City.
Floating Fox Posted 24 March 2009 Posted 24 March 2009 Chris, I'm driving to the game. Going to be home end with the Hamburg Uk supporters Group I think as UEFA have banned Hamburg from selling tickets to people outside the home country
Floating Fox Posted 24 March 2009 Posted 24 March 2009 How would they organise that? I have no idea but its brilliant
Lovejoy Posted 24 March 2009 Posted 24 March 2009 I've sat with the Hamburg fans before at the Emirates. Reet laff they were.
