Exactly.

An away game at Boro was too much for them in their post-Madrid hangover, especially with Torres injured.

That's why Liverpool are not in the class of United or Chelsea.

Benitez may need to win the Champions League again to keep his job.

He'll go in summer I think. And they aren't even guaranteed to win the Champs League either.

Not getting a replacement striker for Keane was awful management. Not even half a replacement.

I'd be VERY surprised if the scousers won the Champions League this year.

But after what they did in 2005 with a side a good deal weaker than their current one, it can't entirely be ruled out.

True, you can't rule them out.

But teams like Barcelona, Man Utd and Inter Milan are much stronger in depth and stronger in the ability to grind out results, especially Man utd, both in the league and Europe.

How can Chelsea be too far back when they went above the Plastic Scousers to go second today?

Liverpool, but they won't because they're simply unable to pull off miracles. Haven't done that for ages and they always seem to have manager issues, compared to ManU, where Ferguson (deservedly) rules with an iron fist.

Still voted Liverpool, because one can still hope for a change.

If ever a thread was designed for our MK Dons contingent, this would be it

Well your not daft are you? Of course they arent garunteed to win the Champs League you fool.

And what manager do you know would of bought a decent enough striker in on the last day of the transfer deadline when they had just sold Keane? Nobody would have.

Liverpool have succesfully dispatched Barcalona and Inter Milan in the last 2 seasons of the Champions League and they beat Inter Milan 3-0 on aggregate if I am not mistaken. So to say Liverpool do not have the ability to grind out results is a silly statement when they beat Barcalona 2-1 in the Nou Camp and beat Inter 1-0 in the San Siro.

Since 2005 when Rafa took over Liverpoool have successfully knocked out Lerverkusen, Juventus, Chelsea (twice), A.C Milan, Barcelona, PSV, Inter Milan and Arsenal. That's not bad for four years worth of Champs League football and another Final to go along with the one they won. Real Madrid could be another team to add to that list.
