The thing is, the longer it goes and the more fans it gets the more power it wields. The more power they have the more they can get away with ripping off which gives them somewhat endless material. Plus, Trey and Mat are just infinite children. There's no chance of them ever growing out of it or maturing.

Yes, it's very hit and miss at best nowadays, but for 11/12 years (with 25 episodes a series) nothing came close. Exactly, it is genius and Family Guy is also amazing but it takes so much from The Simpsons, to say it's better IMO is wrong. Bit like saying Oasis are better than The Beatles

Can't stand people - ESPECIALLY people my age / younger - who harp on about the "originals" of things like they were actually around at the time of their prominance. Give over. Judge something on it's merits. You prefer the Simpsons to Family Guy? God bless you, that's your business. But just claiming it's inferior because "the Simpsons already did it" is dumb.

Well I THINK that's ridiculous. Surely if something comes a long later and steals the main ideas from another thing that came around before, some of it's greatness has to be taken away because after all coming up with the idea in the first place is the clever and genius part. Anyway it's an opinion you can't have a go at me for it.

Somewhere that got their ideas from somewhere else again? Enjoy something for what it is. Everyone's inspired by someone else and sometimes the links people make are utter toss anyway. Oasis largely sound nothing at all like the Beatles who were essentially just the Boyzone of their era.

But it's a hell of a lot more original than Family Guy. Anyway I love Family Guy, stop acting as if I hate it. I'm just saying IMO it's not as good as The Simpsons, and I gave my reasons for this. Finnegan Posted 15 March 2009 Posted 15 March 2009 It might have a similar set up but their are hundreds of live action sit coms in the States with the same family set up. Family Guy's humour and style isn't really all that much like the Simpsons at all, it's closer to South Park in it's shock humour - it's far more adult and the Simpsons is a show for all ages. I'm not at all implying you "hate" Family Guy, I'm just utterly fed up of hearing people whine that it's just a copy of the Simpsons because it really doesn't watch like that at all.
