Van Der Sar, Jagielka, Vidic, Ferdinand, Baines, Giggs, Lampard, Alonso, Valencia , Gerrard , Torres
Finnegan Posted 26 March 2009 Posted 26 March 2009 Robinho was average at Real. Was always a bit raffled by how insane people went when he came over here, we had better players playing here already - he'd have to work hard to get into the Man United side.
Edmund Posted 26 March 2009 Posted 26 March 2009 Was always a bit raffled by how insane people went when he came over here Because his name ends in "inho" :giggle:
StanSP Posted 26 March 2009 Posted 26 March 2009 Depends what you class as a flop. For me spending 5 million on a player who doesn't play is a transfer flop. But at the time of buying him he was playing regularly for Fulham (I think). And he passed a medical which is why Hull signed him. If they had any doubts that he would get injured so soon they wouldn't have bought him. IMO i see players like Robinho and Robbie Keane (time at Liverpool) as more flops.
Finnegan Posted 26 March 2009 Posted 26 March 2009 I don't think Robbie Keane was really a 'flop.' He was an ill advised signing. He worked very hard and was effective during his time at Anfield he just didn't really fit the system at all.

welck12 Posted 27 March 2009 Posted 27 March 2009 Best Manager outside of the 'Top Four'? - Moyes, if he had half the money the top 4 have everton would be challenging up there. Player of the season? Moyes was my pick as he as again over acheived with a very small squad without many superstars but cant really use the money argument seeing as he spent £15 million on Fellani at the start of the season
Lillehamring Posted 27 March 2009 Posted 27 March 2009 surprised to see deco in the flop pile - he was incredible in his first few games and was then out injured for quite a while... he is my most hated player in the world after gattuso (sp), but i think if he hadn't got injured he would have been quality... not really fair to fault him for being injured
welck12 Posted 27 March 2009 Posted 27 March 2009 Moyes was my pick as he as again over acheived with a very small squad without many superstars but cant really use the money argument seeing as he spent £15 million on Fellani at the start of the season If you look at what he has spent in say the last five years or so (just for an example as sky showed it the other day) liverpool have spent roughly £280 mill, chelsea around £250, manure £200, arsenal £80 mill. What about everton? I doubt its even close to £50 millon. Shit i dont even think that whole squad cost more than about £70 million. Just because he spent all of last seasons and this seasons budget on one player doesnt mean he has anywhere near the resources the others have. Arsenal have only spent so little because wenger has his policy of buying young and developing them rather than splashing out big big money (excluding arshavin as he knew he had to bring someone in) which you have to praise/respect him for
Uncle Albert Posted 27 March 2009 Author Posted 27 March 2009 Its good to see Uncle Albert reads the Daily Mail... I'm more of a Daily Star man to be honest, the content is more on my wavelength. I only read the Daily Mail because it was the only paper in the hairdressers at the time. Was an interesting read and looking at what the journo's have said the woman who put her views down doesnt have a sodding clue mind.

Uncle Albert Posted 27 March 2009 Author Posted 27 March 2009 John O'Shea is better than Joey Barton... At being Gay? John O'Shea is average and Shingler you cant put him anywhere and he will perform becaue he has had a few nightmares this season. Fulham in the FA Cup and Liverpool. He hasnt even played an awful lot this season so to rate someone over the season for the most underated performer and then to come to the conclusion of John O'Shea well something is wrong. If you were looking for a Man United player who was underated this season then Darren Fletcher is one of the stand out players. Evra is overated also.

Uncle Albert Posted 27 March 2009 Author Posted 27 March 2009 Exactly. So where are you going with this? The whole idea of an underated player is someone who has played alot and had a telling contribution to a team and doesnt get the praise of the papers and the pundits on TV. A good example would be someone like Michael Turner at Hull or Leon Osman. Not John O'Shea who has hardly played. Dammit! You Bastard!
