Edmund Posted 28 March 2009 Posted 28 March 2009 The Irish fans were singing this solidly for half hour to the Fernando Torres chant after he made an absolute howler. :giggle: It was similar to Paul Robinsons howler. Prior to the game he got a death threat http://news.scotsman.com/uk/Poles39-plea-a...reat.5118324.jp Also apparantly there was loads of trouble before kick off betwen rival fans and it was kicking off big time.
Finnegan Posted 28 March 2009 Posted 28 March 2009 I really hate the Northern Irish fans. Worst trouble we've had in Cardiff in my memory. Much worse than the English were, they gave Big John a lot of sectarian abuse. I hadn't liked them before that for the stick they gave Lennon but after I'd experienced them first hand I've been holding a bit of a grudge ever since.

They were also chucking coins at the linesman. One struck his head. The Lennon incident never made sense to me. How religion can get involved in football is beyond me. At least he gave them the finger and didn't play again.

Irish and Polish that is. Trouble!
Jimmy Posted 29 March 2009 Posted 29 March 2009 Celtic fans sing this for Boruc anyway so it was probably a piss take of that
Edmund Posted 29 March 2009 Author Posted 29 March 2009 Might have been a Polish fan? Not when the linesman is standing in front of a mass of green shirts. It was because Poland had scored and it looked controversially offside but it wasn't as I remember, just poor defending and trying to play the offside trap.
Ultra Posted 29 March 2009 Posted 29 March 2009 Why? They're the international equivalent of Millwall. The Republic's fans are far better.
Floating Fox Posted 29 March 2009 Posted 29 March 2009 Why? They're the international equivalent of Millwall. The Republic's fans are far better. Wouldn't get this at Wemberleee
shen Posted 29 March 2009 Posted 29 March 2009 Not really a howler though... immense bounce the ball took..
Edmund Posted 29 March 2009 Author Posted 29 March 2009 Not really a howler though... immense bounce the ball took.. Yeah obviously wasn't entirely his fault but he had an absolute shocker. His distribution, kicking was going straight to the front two Irish strikers each time.
Edmund Posted 29 March 2009 Author Posted 29 March 2009 Wouldn't get this at Wemberleee That was quality.
Finnegan Posted 29 March 2009 Posted 29 March 2009 Wouldn't get this at Wemberleee Yeah because the comments on that page really show the Northern Irish supporters to be an intelligent, well rounded bunch. Sorry mate but you're a clown sometimes, the NI fans are a vicious bunch of bigoted tits - would it be okay for a group of Ultras to be singing racist abuse as long they made it look loud and organized? I'm not saying that that chant is any way really offensive but I wouldn't really be glorifying that bunch of wankers, either.
Fosse Boy Posted 29 March 2009 Posted 29 March 2009 I thought there'd been a big (largely successful) campaign to stamp sectarianism out of Northern Ireland's support, and that their fans were now well loved by the international football community? I'm not all that well researched on the subject so pardon my naivety, but I thought that was the case.

Worked really well. If you're right I've not seen any evidence. We've played them quite a few times over the last few years and I've not liked any of my encounters with their support.
Fosse Boy Posted 29 March 2009 Posted 29 March 2009 http://www.irishfa.com/the-ifa/news/2813/p...ll-awards-night The best article I could find on the subject.

Alexikokopops Posted 29 March 2009 Posted 29 March 2009 Might have been a Polish fan?To be fair, they're probably as bad as each other. Irish and Polish that is. Trouble! The Polish fans were on completely the other side of the pitch, one of them must have a bloody good throw to have hit that linesman!
