SOCCERROO FOX Posted 31 March 2009 Posted 31 March 2009 I'm a fairly good chance not confirmed but it is a good to go to South Africa staying with the Australian supporters group Head Quarters in Durban. They have set up a Tent Village at Kingsmead Cricket crowd (where they play test cricket). The whole ground has been booked for 550 semi-luxury tents 1200 people where bars and everything you can think off has been catered for bars, transport, tickets etc. So me and my brother are making the trek. http://www.thefanatics.com/tour.php?id=870 Any one else going or thinking of going once. I'm excited by the prospect.
Sparky Posted 31 March 2009 Posted 31 March 2009 As long as we qualify then im planning to go , funds depending

They loved the fact i was giving them stick for winning the ashes the summer before and told me they would win 5-0 in Aussie ( what did they know )

(you tube it quality aussie rock) It's bound to be an awesome atomosphere and exprience 1200 aussies sleeping in a 25,000 capacity stadium, with bands on site pubs and dj's will be a quality experience.
SOCCERROO FOX Posted 31 March 2009 Author Posted 31 March 2009 I have til december too prey for an Australia V England group match. That would be immense.
lavrentis Posted 31 March 2009 Posted 31 March 2009 I would love to see England abroad. Unfortunately my wallet disagrees.
Uncle Albert Posted 31 March 2009 Posted 31 March 2009 Anywhere else then I think I would of tried to of made the trip to South Africe - I might sound like a flid here but there will be a mega amount of trouble in South Africe especially if England get there. Would of loved to have been 18 for the last World Cup in Germany! Next one I am there, Brazil or a South American country isnt it?
purpleronnie Posted 31 March 2009 Posted 31 March 2009 Nah no trouble not with the fans anyway the problem will be with the locals south africa is one of the worst places in the world for crime. My bet they lock out all the locals and they wont get a look in, a bit sad really.

I went to Germany and never saw anything whilst i was there and that was 1st 2 weeks of a tournament. No trouble reported in Japan either . SA government insist they can guarentee safety . As long as you aint a 100% bellend its easy to stay out of trouble at these kind of events. In Germany i met loads of good people from all over the world , Germans were friendly as anything , Swedes and Aussies were good fun also .
purpleronnie Posted 31 March 2009 Posted 31 March 2009 Agreed England fans have been up there with the best behaved fans in the tournament, actually considering the amount of english fans who travel we are probably the best behaved.
SOCCERROO FOX Posted 31 March 2009 Author Posted 31 March 2009 It will be the safiest time to go to South Africa as there will be police, army, private security firm everywhere aslong as you stay around the major towns and the major parts of those towns it will be very safe. Cos if anything goes wrong no one will ever go there again crippling the economy.
Tommeh Posted 31 March 2009 Posted 31 March 2009 Will have to assess finances and obviously get a job whilst at uni but its certainly on the radar, if just to go for the tournament watch in the fan parks and get tickets on the streets for a few games at the right price.
Finnegan Posted 31 March 2009 Posted 31 March 2009 Yeah I plan on booking my plane just as soon as Wales qualify. ... what?
Tevez Posted 31 March 2009 Posted 31 March 2009 South Africa is Rough. I'm travelling with the Tartan Army next Euro's.

Very decent chance of picking up match tickets at not too ridiculous prices as most won't want to make the journey and the locals will have their cut-price tickets that I'm sure a lot of them will be looking to shift.
SOCCERROO FOX Posted 1 April 2009 Author Posted 1 April 2009 Only main concerns with SA will be Accomidation. It wont be easy to find accomidation. That's partly the reason i'm looking forward to the Aussie Tent city, reading up about it it seems awesome with heaps of pubs put up arounf the place should be good.
Bazaldo Posted 1 April 2009 Posted 1 April 2009 Mind the prossies wanting to give you something. More than a seeing to n all.
Hullfox Posted 1 April 2009 Posted 1 April 2009 I'm reckoning that with the priority system I should get tickets for at least one of the group games so I'm planning on being there.
Dr The Singh Posted 1 April 2009 Posted 1 April 2009 I'm reckoning that with the priority system I should get tickets for at least one of the group games so I'm planning on being there. Can I come with you Hully, i promise to be good???
SOCCERROO FOX Posted 1 April 2009 Author Posted 1 April 2009 Australia just one and still have 3 more games to go, but if Bahrain and Qatar draw we are the first team to qualify for the WC. Regardless i'm paying and booking on Monday for my accomidation which gurantees a catergory 3 ticket to all 3 group matches. Im ridicullusly excited like a little school girl.
welck12 Posted 1 April 2009 Posted 1 April 2009 The oz tent city thing, is it reserved purely for oz nationals? Thinking that would be a great place to stay if i could, if not have to look around a bit more. I;m gonna be in south africa for the lions tour in a few months then most likely back there for the world cup as well.
