Post Horn Gallop (The tune they run out to)

I actually agree totally, definately something like this would be less embarassing than this Americanized crap.

Americanised. :thumbup:

What that tune has to do with fox hunting I'll never know, maybe it's the arrival of the males. :thumbup:

nothing at all, the clue is in the title :thumbup:

The music is advertised as being performed at "The Court Balls, The Nobility’s Soirées and The Promenade Concerts". To fit the high class nature of these performance venues :crylaugh: , the cover is elaborately decorated with the royal coat of arms and an intricate border printed in gold.

The music celebrates a sound regularly heard throughout Victorian Britain up until about 1850 – that of the post horn, blown by the guard as the mail coaches covered the length and breadth of the country. The horn had several functions: it warned toll gate keepers of the coach’s approach and warned other road users to let the coach have right of way*. It also let keepers of posting inns know of the coach’s approach so they could have the next team of horses ready for when the coach arrived.

The piece was composed for piano by H Koenig and arranged with a post horn accompaniment.

Publisher: M Jullien, 3 Maddox Street, New Bond Street, London

Accession Number: 2005.82/3

*i think this is perhaps the spirit that sould apply most to our use of the piece....

If we were looking at different songs to come out to I would love - Clubbed to Death by Rob Dougan.

I think its the tune played on The Apprentice and in The Matrix.

My sound on my laptop doesn't work but think this is it;

I think a club uses it already, Charlton maybe? TBH a few clubs probably use it.

We won't get rid of the Gallop.

Fans will put up with any amount of crap on or off the field, but dumping that would drive them to open revolt.

This is a decent tune, though - even if it has been adopted by both Man City and Leeds... :(

As others have said Henry was good back in the day before a few bum notes started to creep in - but even as his skill faded he was still head and shoulder above the clown that plays it now before kick-off.

I don't know where he learnt the tune but I swear he just made it up once in his head, thought to himself 'that'll do' and now plays that. It's a bit of a bug bear with me (maybe I should have put this in the Grinds my Gears thread!) but no more so then when he missed a phrase of the Last Post one year. That was an embarressment.
