Trav Le Bleu Posted 6 April 2009 Posted 6 April 2009 I have noticed that City have the second highest number of draws in the league! It could be strongly argued that our high number (once again I think we had the most or second most, just like the year before that) of draws, and our inability to kill off games cost us our Championship slot (for the sake of 3 goals in drawn games we could have got an extra 6 pts and been comfortably safe). Will our inability to kill off games cost us this season? Will it cost us the title, an automatic promotion? More importantly, is it just coincidence? I've said before that I think there's very little to link this season's team with the teams of the past 2 seasons, so I have to say it must be coincidence. EXCEPT for this... the fans are the same people who don't get behind the team unless we are winning. Could it be that it's our (the majority of city supporters) refusal to spur our team on in the last few minutes unless they are playing out of their skins (in which case it could be argued that they wouldn't need the support so much), that has cost us dear and may yet cost us again? However, if anyone thinks different, well, there's this button which says, "add reply"
Neil_LCFC Posted 6 April 2009 Posted 6 April 2009 It isn't the suporters fault that's for sure, lack of concentration & profesionalism on the players part.

However, if anyone thinks different, well, there's this button which says, "add post" I have long thought that we have alot of 'supporters' that are very fickle and jump on the back of our players too quickly. I believe this has led to teams not willing to take risks and settling for 1-0s and draws. As we know when we sit back we get punished. It could be argued that the main difference this year could be the amount of young players we have though. This inability to close out games could be an experience thing?
BlabyFox Posted 6 April 2009 Posted 6 April 2009 Its just complacency and laziness at the end of games.
Milky Posted 6 April 2009 Posted 6 April 2009 The same things seem to happen each year no matter who we have on the pitch and in the dugout. The only constant through all of this has been the supporters. Coincidence?
Daggers Posted 6 April 2009 Posted 6 April 2009 Erm - we've only lost four games. I like that stat a lot more.
samlcfc Posted 6 April 2009 Posted 6 April 2009 Id never really blame it on the supporters. Its still their job to kill off the games and they dnt need people behind them to do it. Thats just the kind of excuse id expect to hear from a player . no one sits at ure desk in a n office giving you a pat on the back everytime you finish a piece of work

However, if anyone thinks different, well, there's this button which says, "add reply" That certainly doesn't fit with Saturday's draw and I wouldn't have thought it applied to the 6 away draws either. As for Home games: Walsall twice we came from behind Northampton, Brighton, Oldham, was 0-0 Swindon and Colchester we came from 1-0 down Stockport was 1-1 after 5 minutes Only one of those games where we in front and then only for 4 minutes, 3 of them we came from behind.
Trav Le Bleu Posted 6 April 2009 Author Posted 6 April 2009 Erm - we've only lost four games.I like that stat a lot more. EXACTLY! We have lost HALF the number of games that Boro have, we should be well clear of them!

Playing football isn't an office job - and even comparing it to an office job, are you telling me that office workers that get stick all the time work better than ones that get praise? Yes, it's their job, but they'll do it better with more support!
maddog Posted 6 April 2009 Posted 6 April 2009 Im getting a de ja vu feeling. The run in to this season so far has been almost identical to last seasons run in. Poor performances, games we expect to win and don't and poor results. Worst case scenario P,Boro get 93 points, Millwall get 91 points so we need 8 more points. A win Saturday and i will be very comfortable, a loss Saturday and Leeds game will turn into the biggest of the season.
Daggers Posted 6 April 2009 Posted 6 April 2009 EXACTLY!We have lost HALF the number of games that Boro have, we should be well clear of them! But teams don't raise their game against them - they don't have a stadium like ours and they aren't super-massive like us.
