After 12 minutes, a surging run by Tevez, cutting in from the right, forced Franco into a save, only for him to parry the ball onto Ronaldo's forehead, who reacted quickly two put the Red Devils ahead. United dominated much of the first half, and in the 40th minute Ronaldo found the ball at his feet and cooly side footed it into the top corner to double United's lead, who looked comfortable at half time. The Madrid manager must have said something, or changed tactics, at half time, for Madrid came out psyched up for the second half. United set out their stall to defend, and it was paying off. It also helped that United had Lady Luck looking down on them! Madrid got a penalty after the referee had played advantage, and put it away setting up an interesting late encounter. Madrid piled the pressure on, but United coped. Aguero had the chance to equalise in the last minute, only for the pressure to get to him and he took too long on the ball; van Der Sar picked it up off his feet and cleared it, for the final whistle to sound.
