Edmund Posted 3 May 2009 Posted 3 May 2009 Well if you'd have treated him better to begin with I'm sure he'd have been more inclined to signing a new deal He supposedly had a attitude problem when he first came on the scene. Wolves should have really given him another chance after his injury but it's a big risk. When your top of the championship half way through the season.
Koke Posted 3 May 2009 Posted 3 May 2009 They were doing really well so it was hard to see Davies replace Jones, Henry or any of their other midfielder, thus he got sent on loan to us. When the world saw his potential and skills, Bolton came in and Davies wanted out. Wolves could hardly do anything about it.
Darkzzz_ Posted 3 May 2009 Posted 3 May 2009 To be fair he was injured so much at Wolves that he could never really sustain a first team place. Yeah very true, I guess Wolves would have issues with the way he decided to move after sticking by him so much with his injury. He is a wonderful player though, no matter how much I thought and still think Bolton was the wrong move for him.
lcfc_jme Posted 4 May 2009 Posted 4 May 2009 I like Mark Davies as a player, and as Fez said that run at Yeovil on Sky probably sealed his departure! I'd like Mark Davies a whole lot more were he not playing for Bolton, though. He deserves better.
alex Posted 4 May 2009 Posted 4 May 2009 With regards to Mark Davies, not only was he superb, but he also highlighted how long it has been since I had seen a marauding LCFC midfielder in that mould - and just how that makes the difference from a 'good' team to an 'excellent' team. I remember Micky Adams saying that without Muzzy in the Championship that year we were ordinary. Whilst I like King a lot and think Oakley has had a cracking season, a player who can turn defences and run with the ball must be a priority this summer. However, they are not easy to find. But then, I doubt Tunchev was either.
Shrenchel Posted 4 May 2009 Posted 4 May 2009 Mark Davies will play for england one day! I agree. All the jokers that were criticising him for going there, saying hed never see a minute of first team football have gone very quiet.

skinnydipper Posted 4 May 2009 Posted 4 May 2009 More than anything else the big positive for me of this season is that I've started to look forward to going to matches again. No moreso than when Davies was playing for us , gliding past the opposition players , unlocking defences , and creating space for others. I enjoyed not only his pace and skill but also his footballing brain. Was gutted that we couldn't get him . Agree he was the best midfielder that we've had since Izzet.
dandannieldanok Posted 4 May 2009 Posted 4 May 2009 Gary Megson is a total **** for seeing his potential.
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 4 May 2009 Posted 4 May 2009 I am sure Davies will get a wonderful reception at Molineux next season. Nicely done.
flanimal Posted 4 May 2009 Posted 4 May 2009 Mark Davies was never going to stay with Leicester, he came here purely to get match fit - so really it was like one big training session for him. It was just to get him fit for a transfer. Shame, because I was pretty shocked at how good he was, totally outclassed every player. The one positive (and a big positive) is that it proves Pearson and his men are good at spotting talent. To think he was in the Wolves reserves or something. Crazy.

Yeah well that's McCarthy for you, don't rate him at all. Didn't he take Sunderland up to the Prem a few years back only to fail miserably? He's a competent manager at Championship level but above that he's out his depth. Sacked by Christmas.....

Wolves had the best players, so they went up. No mystery.
lcfc_jme Posted 4 May 2009 Posted 4 May 2009 Everyone saying McCarthy didn't rate Davies is completely mistaken, surely? Davies was injured for the majority of his tenure at Wolves if I remember rightly? Which is why he came on loan here - to get first team experience and match fitness. If McCarthy didn't rate Davies, he wouldn't have wanted to keep him and wouldn't have offered him a new deal.
MPH Posted 4 May 2009 Posted 4 May 2009 Simply far too Good for us and the division we were in. he was playing regularly for Bolton in the PREM ( before injury).. Think that says it all, really..
