Fez of Mahrez Posted 3 May 2009 Posted 3 May 2009 Now the season has finished, a word or two for Mark Davies as well. Along with Tunchev, the best player I have seen play for Leicester since Muzzy Izzet. Truly a Premiership player playing in League One and I loved every second of it. I will never forget that run at Yeovil. The whole time I was muttering under my breath "not live on Sky, not live on Sky, don't do this live on Sky". If that had gone in, he may as well have kept on running, straight out of the ground and not stopped until he reached the nearest Premiership stadium. True class and personally I think he deserves credit for his part of the success this season, not least for the way we completely dismantled Peterborough with him as a key player.
clazkel Posted 3 May 2009 Posted 3 May 2009 Davies was definately a key player for us, he gave the team alot of confidence, without him we may have won the league so comfortably in the end. Hes a class player and came to us at the right time, shame he had to go, bloody Megson! At least the team who finished the season is pretty much the team who started the season, not too many changes, and if there were then its due to injurys.
ousefox Posted 3 May 2009 Posted 3 May 2009 Great player and he definately contributed a lot to us winning the title.
Anish Posted 3 May 2009 Posted 3 May 2009 He was outstanding. Definitely the best midfielder I've seen at the club since Izzet in his prime, and it was a real shame for us that Bolton spotted his talent. With him in the team we had the drive and bite that we often lacked with Oakley/King, but we knew deep down that he was too good for League 1 and I don't blame him for grabbing his Premiership opportunity.
MC Prussian Posted 3 May 2009 Posted 3 May 2009 He's got to come back at one point - just got to wait another four years or until we buy him out of his contract...
Stuliasz Posted 3 May 2009 Posted 3 May 2009 I saw a thread/poll on a Bolton forum before he got injured comparing him to Kevin Nolan and asking who they would prefer in the team. I think the results were something like 90/10 in favour of Davies. He was a pleasure to watch but I agree with Fez - why did he have to do that run and play so bloody well on TV!
FoxesFan123 Posted 3 May 2009 Posted 3 May 2009 I read somewhere Megson saying the England scouts had been watching Mark Davies at Bolton, along with a few other Bolton players. Just makes you realise how good of a player we had playing here, in league one!
LeicesterFan10 Posted 3 May 2009 Posted 3 May 2009 he was okay, but no player is bigger than club. I rate Gradel more.
Joe. Posted 3 May 2009 Posted 3 May 2009 he was okay, but no player is bigger than club. I rate Gradel more. And if there was no doubt before about your wind-up credentials...
Shane Posted 3 May 2009 Posted 3 May 2009 After the first game he played for bolton he got an england under 21 call. Funny that.
Tilley Posted 3 May 2009 Posted 3 May 2009 Wolves will be cursing the fact they let him go. Absolutely fantastic player.
Bert Posted 3 May 2009 Posted 3 May 2009 I don't think we'd have won the league without the games that he played for us. I wonder if he managed to get a medal? I spoke to him, to wish him good luck when he left, he thanked me and said he hoped he could play for Leicester again one day, but only where we belong, the premiership.
smudger63 Posted 3 May 2009 Posted 3 May 2009 Definitely the best midfielder at our club since izzet. Imagine if we had kept him till the end of the season, we would probably have been up over a month ago! I think he would have made the difference, in helping to turn a fair few of our home draws, into wins!
TrickyTrev Posted 3 May 2009 Posted 3 May 2009 I saw a thread/poll on a Bolton forum before he got injured comparing him to Kevin Nolan and asking who they would prefer in the team. I think that is as much a reflection on Kevin Nolan's shitness than anything else. Davies and Tunchev were a class apart this season. Shame they didn't play much.
Scow Posted 3 May 2009 Posted 3 May 2009 Another example of Pearson's ability in the transfer market. The way Davies was able to glide past players with relative ease added a new dimension to the side. Instead of regretting not having him here longer, I was just happy to see a player of his quality playing for us. If he is able to overcome his injury problems then I don't see why he can't make the senior England squad.
Edmund Posted 3 May 2009 Posted 3 May 2009 Wolves will be cursing the fact they let him go. This... It may feel like a massive loss for us but if I was a Wolves fan I would be livid.

We coped well when Tunch got injured and would have still won the league without him. Thats a tad harsh on our other strong performers this season
The Bear Posted 3 May 2009 Posted 3 May 2009 We were forced into letting him go though. We wanted him to stay but he refused.
DB11 Posted 3 May 2009 Posted 3 May 2009 We were forced into letting him go though. We wanted him to stay but he refused. Well if you'd have treated him better to begin with I'm sure he'd have been more inclined to signing a new deal
Koke Posted 3 May 2009 Posted 3 May 2009 Well if you'd have treated him better to begin with I'm sure he'd have been more inclined to signing a new deal I'm not sure what Wolves have done to upset Davies. If anything, it was the other way around.
Darkzzz_ Posted 3 May 2009 Posted 3 May 2009 I am sure Davies will get a wonderful reception at Molineux next season.
Joe. Posted 3 May 2009 Posted 3 May 2009 To be fair he was injured so much at Wolves that he could never really sustain a first team place.
