Jimothy Posted 4 July 2012 Posted 4 July 2012 Aren't all the answers "Whatever the ref thinks, he can't be wrong"?
AyewJoking Posted 4 July 2012 Posted 4 July 2012 question 1: it is unclear as to how far off the field the player runs. I would think if its within 2 yards for just a couple of seconds play would go on. However if the player blatantly ran out of bounds maybe a free kick would be given???????
DB11 Posted 6 July 2012 Author Posted 6 July 2012 Aren't all the answers "Whatever the ref thinks, he can't be wrong"? He can't be wrong in law. Ie. when a penalty is taken an attacking player enters the penalty area. The penalty is saved so the restart should be IDFK but if the referee had the penalty retaken, he'd be wrong. It's where the LOTG say "If, in the opinion of the referee, X, Y or Z" that he can't technically be wrong.

DB11 Posted 9 July 2012 Author Posted 9 July 2012 Here you go then MOCK REFEREES PROMOTION EXAM PAPER 1 ANSWERS Question 1: During the game a blue attacker runs down the wing and sees the red defender blocking his way. He plays the ball past him, and runs off the field of play to get around him, before coming back on and continuing his run. What should you do? The correct answer is C: Allow play to continue, as no offence has been committed. It is entirely permissible for a player to leave the field of play if his momentum carries him over the line in an attempt to continue playing the ball. Question 2: At a substitution a player preparing to come on is wearing a ring that is covered in tape. He tells you that he cannot get it off. What should you do? The correct answer is B: Inform the player that if he cannot remove it, he cannot play. Law 4 states that players are not permitted to wear any jewellery. Question 3: The blue team wins a throw-in. The blue defender, Number 4, takes it 10 metres closer to his own goal, than where the ball went out. Do you? The correct answer is B: Stop play, and award a foul throw to the red team. The throw in must be taken from the point where it crossed the touchline. Failure to do so, whether it is in front, or behind the point in question, is a foul throw, and must therefore be awarded to the other team. Question 4: You award a direct free kick to the red team’s goalkeeper in the goal area. Where should the kick be taken from? The correct answer is D: Anywhere in the goal area. The goal area is commonly referred to as the 6-yard area. Any free kick, direct or indirect awarded to the defending side in the goal area is taken anywhere within that area. Question 5: At the toss, before the game starts, the red captain spits at the blue captain. What should you do? The correct answer is A: Send the red captain off, show him the red card, and allow him to be replaced by a named substitute. The game has not yet started, but your jurisdiction as the referee begins the moment that you enter the field of play. The red captain should be sent off and shown the red card for spitting at the blue captain. It is permitted for him to be replaced by a named substitute, and the number of available substitutes is reduced accordingly. The red team cannot name another substitute to take the place of the player coming on. The red team may still make up to maximum number of changes during the game, providing sufficient substitutes are still available. Question 6: A blue defender trips a red attacker outside of the penalty area. The ball breaks to another red attacker who controls it, and goes around the goalkeeper, thus facing an open goal. He shoots and puts the ball wide. Meanwhile the attacker who was fouled demands the free kick. What do you do? The correct answer is B: Restart with a goal kick. There are two points to remember here. Only the referee decides if an advantage has been gained, and has the right to bring play back to the original offence if the advantage does not accrue. However, if advantage is played and is wasted by the attacking side, play restarts accordingly. In this case, the opportunity to score in an unguarded goal is a clear advantage, albeit one that is not taken. Question 7: A red player plays in a dangerous manner. What should you do? The correct answer is A: Stop play, and award the blue team an indirect free kick. There is no requirement to take further action at this point. An indirect free kick is the appropriate restart. Question 8: The red team is defending, and they have a free kick near the corner flag. The defender takes the kick and plays it across the area to the goalkeeper. However the ball misses him and goes into the goal. What should you do? The correct answer is A: Restart play with a corner kick to the blue team. An own goal cannot be scored directly from a free kick. The result is a corner to the opposition. Question 9: You arrive at the park where the game is to be played. There are no corner flags present. The home team informs you that their corner flag posts have been stolen and they have no spares. What should you do? The correct answer is A: Restart play with a corner kick to the blue team. Corner flags and flagposts are mandatory equipment. Without them the game cannot be played. Question 10: You blow the whistle to start the game. Before the red players kick the ball, a blue player enters the centre circle and closes to within a metre of the ball. What should you do? The correct answer is A: Blow the whistle, stop the game and retake the kick-off. The whistle is a signal to the players that the ball can be kicked. In this case, the ball is not in play until it has been kicked and moves forward. All opponents are required to stay in their own half of the field until the ball is kicked. Question 11: A blue player tackles a red player using excessive force. What should you do? The correct answer is C: Blow the whistle, and stop the game. Show the blue player the red card, send him off and restart with a direct free kick where the offence occurred. Any challenge committed using excessive force or brutality must be sanctioned as serious foul play; one of the sending off offences. However play must be stopped before a player can be sent off. Serious foul play may be as a result of tripping, kicking, charging, or jumping at an opponent, all of which are punished by the award of a direct free kick. Question 12: The ball goes out of play over the touchline and into a hedge. A spectator goes to retrieve it. Meanwhile the red team player who is going to take the throw, picks up a spare size 4 ball and prepares to throw it in. What should you do? The correct answer is C: Blow the whistle, stop the game, and have the throw taken with the correct size 5 ball. This is an open age game, which requires a size 5 ball only. A size 4 ball cannot be used. The ball has not re-entered the Field of Play, so the throw should be taken with a correct size ball. Question 13: The ball is out of play for a throw in, and the blue team indicates that they want to make a substitution. The blue number 6 makes his way towards the touchline to be replaced. On the way over he violently headbutts the red number 6. He leaves the field and the substitute, number 14 comes on. What should you do? The correct answer is B: Show the blue number 6 the red card and send him off. Inform the blue number 14 that the substitution has not been completed, and that he must leave the field. Restart with a throw in. The blue number 6 should be sent off for violent conduct. The offence is committed before he leaves the field of play, so the substitution has not yet been completed. Therefore the blue number 14 cannot come on and replace him. If the blue team wish number 14 to come on, they must replace another player. The ball is already out of play when the offence is committed, and therefore the correct restart is the throw in. Question 14: The red goalkeeper takes a goalkick. The ball reaches the penalty mark when a strong gust of wind blows the ball backwards and it goes into the goal. What should you do? The correct answer is C: Retake the goal kick. The ball must travel outside the penalty area before it is in play. As it only travels as far as the penalty mark, it has not come into play, so the kick must be retaken. Question 15: The red team are attacking and you award them an indirect free-kick on the edge of the blue penalty area. The red kicker shoots for goal, and the blue number 3, standing on the goal-line punches the ball over the crossbar. What should you do? The correct answer is C: Award the red team a penalty kick. A goal cannot be scored from an indirect free kick. It must touch another player first. Therefore, the defender cannot be sent off for denying the opposition a goal by handling the ball. Deliberately handling the ball is punished by a direct free kick, which is a penalty kick inside the penalty area. Now total up your correct answers. Each correct answer is roughly equal to 6.67%. To work out your total percentage for the test, multiply your number of correct answers by this amount. E.g. 5 correct answers = 33.35% 10 correct answers = 66.7% MOCK REFEREES PROMOTION EXAM PAPER 2 ANSWERS Question 1: A red attacker runs with the ball towards the blue team’s goal. As he does so, the blue defender carelessly attempts to trip him. The red player avoids the trip but the ball runs through to the blue goalkeeper. What action should you take? The correct answer is D: Stop play, and award the red team a direct free kick. A direct free kick is awarded if a player trips or attempts to trip an opponent. For a careless challenge, a caution is not normally required. Question 2: The blue team has a throw in near the red team’s penalty area. The ball is thrown towards the goal, and a red defender tries to punch it away. The ball however goes into the goal. What should you do? The correct answer is B: Play the advantage and allow the goal. A goal cannot be scored directly from a throw in, meaning that the defender cannot be sent off for denying an obvious goal scoring opportunity. However as the ball touches another player, the goal should be awarded. Question 3: A red attacker runs with the ball towards the blue team’s goal. As he does so, the blue defender unfairly impedes him, preventing a one-on-one situation with the goalkeeper. What action should you take? The correct answer is D: Stop play, send off the blue player, and show him the red card. Restart with an indirect free kick. Impeding the progress of an opponent is an offence punishable by an indirect free kick. In doing so the blue defender has also denied his opponent an obvious goalscoring opportunity, and should therefore be sent off. Question 4: The blue team has a free kick near the red team’s penalty area. Blue number 8 takes the kick quickly, whilst the ball is moving. The ball goes into the goal. What should you do? The correct answer is B: Stop play and have the kick retaken. For all free kicks the ball must be stationary before being taken. Question 5: The blue number 8 takes a corner kick. The ball rebounds from the near post, and comes straight back to him. He kicks the ball back into the area, where it hits a defender and goes into the goal. What should you do? The correct answer is D: Stop play, disallow the goal, and award the red team an indirect free kick from where the original kicker touched the ball the second time. The player taking the corner kick cannot touch the ball a second time until it has touched another player. Question 6: Red number 6 is in possession of the ball and runs with a defender into the penalty area. He plays the ball past him and then falls to the ground. He demands a penalty. What should you do? The correct answer is B: Stop play, and caution red number 6 for simulation. Restart play with an indirect free kick to the blue team. The red number 6 has not been fouled, and has attempted to deceive you into giving a penalty. He should be cautioned for simulation. The restart is an indirect free kick to the opposition. Question 7: A red player standing in the centre circle kicks the ball, which bursts immediately. What should you do? The correct answer is B: Stop play, replace the defective ball, and restart with a dropped ball where the ball became damaged. As soon as the ball becomes defective, it must be replaced. No offence has been committed so play restarts with a dropped ball. Question 8: The ball is in play when you notice that one player is wearing a heavy, gold coloured chain. What should you do? The correct answer is A: Tell him to leave the field of play, remove the chain, and come back on only when you tell him to do so. No player is permitted to wear jewellery. He must leave the field to correct his equipment, and may only return when you are satisfied he has done so. Question 9: The blue goalkeeper takes a goalkick. It goes straight to the red number 10 who is standing 5 metres outside the penalty area, and beyond the second last defender. The linesman raises his flag to indicate offside and the blue team stops. The red attacker meanwhile carries on running and puts the ball into the goal. What should you do? The correct answer is A: Award the goal. A player cannot be offside if he receives the ball directly from a goal kick. Question 10: A blue player receives a head wound in a challenge, which starts to bleed. What action must you take? The correct answer is C: Tell him to leave the field of play, and have the wound seen to. Tell him that he will not be allowed back on until you have checked to be sure that the bleeding has stopped. No player with a blood injury can remain on the field. As soon as you notice it he must be made to leave. He may only come back on when you are satisfied that the bleeding has stopped.
