lcfc true blue josh 18 Posted 4 May 2005 Posted 4 May 2005 apparently in the summer cl will make a bid for gary mcsheffrey from coventry. the striker has hit 15 goals this season and i think that he would be a good buy and hes also a lcfc fan
Ric Flair Posted 4 May 2005 Posted 4 May 2005 I'd try and sign him, always impressed me and is a quality finisher. Very small, like Connolly though and that might be a problem. I'll believe it when I see it. PS How do you know he's a Leicester fan?
TrickyTrev Posted 4 May 2005 Posted 4 May 2005 Very good player who i have seen a lot of (when he was at Luton). I am not sure Micky would want to sell or he would want to come if he is going to be second choice to Connolly.
Louise Posted 4 May 2005 Posted 4 May 2005 He's out of contract at Cov at the end of the season, this speculation stinks of paper talk to get him a better contract at Cov to me.
Scow Posted 4 May 2005 Posted 4 May 2005 I thought McSheffrey was a Cov fan? I'm sure I've heard him say that...

Knighton Matt Posted 4 May 2005 Posted 4 May 2005 if he's 22 (and therefore under 24, get my maths! ) does this mean we'd need to pay a fee even though he's out of contract like with williams? not saying these stories are true because its probably all BS but just wondered...
TornadoShaunUK Posted 4 May 2005 Posted 4 May 2005 I think I heard this mentioned on century fm this morning at work..
lcfc true blue josh 18 Posted 4 May 2005 Author Posted 4 May 2005 if you want to read the report about gary mcsheffrey go onto www.fansfc.com

We would pay a compensation fee that covered the cost of training McSheffrey whilst at Coventry and a few other things. The fee isn't ever based on how good the player is really, although international caps add to the cost. We wouldn't pay anymore than £300,000 for him, which would be a bargain. Plus knowing Adams he'd probably cut a deal on the side before the tribunal and we'd get him for cheaper.
Mark Posted 4 May 2005 Posted 4 May 2005 LEVEIN IN FOR GARYLEICESTER City boss Craig Levein wants to make Coventry's goal-scoring attacker Gary McSheffrey his first signing for next season. McSheffrey is poised to quit the Sky Blues despite playing a big part in their winning effort to avoid relegation. He will have a choice of clubs at the end of the season but Leicester are confident they can pull off the deal ahead of their rivals. Would be a good signing, i await Adams response to this - "The Championship vultures are after our stars" perhaps?
Mark Posted 4 May 2005 Posted 4 May 2005 is that from a reliable source mr chainsaw? 102971 Mirror

Fox 4 Life Posted 4 May 2005 Posted 4 May 2005 Yeh but both have been palying in under-acheiving teams so together and in our new look side who knows!!
Anish Posted 4 May 2005 Posted 4 May 2005 He has only got 2 more goals than David... 102977 Yes but *probably* has scored more goals from open play without relying on penalties. He would definitely be a good signing imo.

Alexikokopops Posted 4 May 2005 Posted 4 May 2005 McSheffers 'could go to rivals'By Andy Turner Coventry City, "desperate" to hold on to home-grown striker Gary McSheffrey, could face competition from Championship neighbours Leicester City. With relegation staved off, Sky Blues boss Micky Adams admits that one of his main priorities is to fix up a new deal with McSheffrey, who is out of contract this summer. But Leicester's Craig Levein is seeking fresh talent to fuel an all-out promotion assault next season, and McSheffrey has caught his eye with a string of outstanding performances in the Sky Blues' survival battle. Several Leicester regulars, including Dion Dublin and Keith Gillespie, are hoping to secure new deals at the Walkers Stadium but, with money tight, Levein is looking to the future. "In the past this club has paid the players a hell of a lot of money and my job is now to keep the budget under control and see what the best value is," he said. ... http://iccoventry.icnetwork.co.uk/0300cove...-name_page.html
Samu Posted 4 May 2005 Posted 4 May 2005 I don't really know much about the guy but I'm not overly impressed with the stats. We really need a proper goalscorer and he's probably no better than an average Championship player. However I could be proved wrong

Louise Posted 5 May 2005 Posted 5 May 2005 Meanwhile, Levein has poured cold water on rumours linking him with Coventry City forward Gary McSheffrey.link
Knighton Matt Posted 5 May 2005 Posted 5 May 2005 so as he didn't pour cold water on the rab douglas rumours can we assume he might well be on his way here over the summer?
