GLC Posted 21 May 2009 Posted 21 May 2009 NBC has pulled the plug on My Name is Earl. The show's sidekick, Ethan Suplee, confirmed the news via Twitter. "Just got the call that My Name Is Earl has been canceled," he wrote. "They sure did take their time with that decision -- or rather informing us of it." An Earl insider says execs at 20th Century (the show's producer) are in discussions with Fox and ABC about picking up the four-year-old comedy. I hope Fox or ABC take over the show
Asha Posted 21 May 2009 Posted 21 May 2009 Decent show, but I think it's starting to get tedious now. Should find a good way to end it and then do so.
GLC Posted 21 May 2009 Author Posted 21 May 2009 On a plus point Scrubs has been renewed for a ninth season with stars Zach Braff and Sarah Chalke signed on for six episodes
Jimmy Posted 21 May 2009 Posted 21 May 2009 another network will pick this up and have a guaranteed hit
Libertine Posted 21 May 2009 Posted 21 May 2009 On a plus point Scrubs has been renewed for a ninth season with stars Zach Braff and Sarah Chalke signed on for six episodes Plus point? another network will pick this up and have a guaranteed hit Not sure, it'll definitely get picked up but it's only reaching 6m viewers as it is. I think it should do 2 more series max.
lou Posted 21 May 2009 Posted 21 May 2009 Used to love it but the last series was lame and its time to call it a day.
Libertine Posted 21 May 2009 Posted 21 May 2009 Used to love it but the last series was lame and its time to call it a day. Which series? Have you seen 4 yet? At the very least it deserves a final episode. This is a joke.
Fox You Forest Posted 21 May 2009 Posted 21 May 2009 Catalina should get her kit off in a last ditch effort to save the show. I agree with Juppe though, First couple were good but it's just boring now.
lou Posted 21 May 2009 Posted 21 May 2009 Which series? Have you seen 4 yet?At the very least it deserves a final episode. This is a joke. I dunno, The last series that was shown on E4? 3rd or 4th I guess - loved the 1st couple but we didnt enjoy the latest one as much and said it was probably time to call it a day.
Asha Posted 21 May 2009 Posted 21 May 2009 On a plus point Scrubs has been renewed for a ninth season with stars Zach Braff and Sarah Chalke signed on for six episodes Scrubs is probably the TV show I've watched and enjoyed most over the last few years. Not just for it's comedy, but the serious messages they drop in.

Yeh that was 4. Thought it was much better than 3. The episode with Seth Green was class, as was the one with the Stuntman guy. I agree it's not quite what it was, but it's hardly gone that far downhill. Like I say, one more series should be done IMO. Two at a stretch but that'd be pushing it. It'll definitely get picked up. Can't see Jason Lee wanting to do it for too much longer anyway. Scrubs is probably the TV show I've watched and enjoyed most over the last few years. Not just for it's comedy, but the serious messages they drop in. Yeh me too, but it FINISHEDDDDDD. Can't believe they're doing this, the ending was too perfect.

Alexikokopops Posted 21 May 2009 Posted 21 May 2009 Yeh me too, but it FINISHEDDDDDD.Can't believe they're doing this, the ending was too perfect. Exactly. Ludicrous decision. what channel did you watch the final season on? take it it hasn't been shown on E4 yet It only finished showing in America a couple of weeks ago so it won't be in England for a while. I imagine Libertine watched it in a similar way to me, which was on the channel known as "my computer".
lou Posted 21 May 2009 Posted 21 May 2009 Now Jason Lee I will definately miss! Its all down to opinion I guess but we certainly didnt enjoy the last series we saw. I just dont like to see once great comedies done to a death - Id prefer to remember them as they were at their best.

Alexikokopops Posted 21 May 2009 Posted 21 May 2009 well I don't think its been officially cancelled yet I was talking about Scrubs. That was meant to finish after 8 seasons, the last episode of season 8 was called "My Finale" and it wrapped everything up, including loads of shots of the production staff/camera men etc. Then the tv company (I can't remember which one) went and commissioned a 9th season and Scrubs went for it. I don't care about My Name Is Earl.
Asha Posted 21 May 2009 Posted 21 May 2009 Yeh me too, but it FINISHEDDDDDD.Can't believe they're doing this, the ending was too perfect. Perfect, exactly. I'll admit it about had me in tears, was really emotional...especially when you've grown up with it. It's like Friends, and the talk about a movie. No. It ended perfectly. Leave it.

I don't care about My Name Is Earl. i meant Scrubbs, from what I read it hasn't officially finished, even if the story lines were rapped up
Jimmy Posted 21 May 2009 Posted 21 May 2009 the worst cancellation was The West Wing, you could carry that on for as long as there is tv as you always have have someone else win the election, I was pissed off then they canned that, they then only did 1 series of Studio 60 which as just starting to get into its stride before the network canned it
Alexikokopops Posted 21 May 2009 Posted 21 May 2009 i meant Scrubbs, from what I read it hasn't officially finished, even if the story lines were rapped up That's the whole point we're making We're compalining about the fact that it hasn't actually finished when they should have left it after the 8th season. Its common knowledge that it was meant to end after the 8th season but last week a ninth season was comissioned where it's going to hand over to other characters http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/8053531.stm
Jimmy Posted 21 May 2009 Posted 21 May 2009 I thought the 1 that had just finished on E4 was the 8th, that's where the confusion on my part came in its not a totally bad idea if 1 or 2 established characters are around as cameos until the new 1s are established but the new characters need to be good in their own right and not just cheaper "new versions" of J.D and co
GLC Posted 21 May 2009 Author Posted 21 May 2009 Scrubs is probably the TV show I've watched and enjoyed most over the last few years. Not just for it's comedy, but the serious messages they drop in. Thats why i love it, it has everything you need in a tv show
Libertine Posted 21 May 2009 Posted 21 May 2009 Exactly. Ludicrous decision. It only finished showing in America a couple of weeks ago so it won't be in England for a while. I imagine Libertine watched it in a similar way to me, which was on the channel known as "my computer". I did indeed. It's just crazy. If it's happening, it has to be called Scrubs: Interns or something like the webisodes. It can't keep the same name. And how shit is it going to be without JD narrating...
