Legend_in_blue Posted 2 June 2009 Posted 2 June 2009 Ok, from a NYC itinerary you can't really do this, but you'll have to fit it in some other time... Do Route 66 from Chicago to LA. Rent yourself a Ford Mustang convertible and travel the road - all 2600 miles of it. You'll see loads of cool stuff on the way and you can detour to the Canyon and Vegas along the way. Chicago is a top place and so is LA. But then a week out of Chicago you drive straight through some old town in the middle of nowhere and you'll meet some of the friendliest people out there imaginable. Pull up at a bar, and heads turn - it's that kind of place. People always friendly. Loved it, I would do it again definately. There's loads to recommend along the route, you could spend months on it. Go to the Big Texan in Amarillo and visit the old wild west town of Oatman, Arizona.
Bert Posted 2 June 2009 Posted 2 June 2009 Been to Florida twice, so thats all I can really speak of. The people there are so welcoming and friendly and they genuinely mean to be as well. There are some fantastic theme parks there, if that's your kind of thing. All of the Disney parks are great, especially EPCOT when they do the Illuminations and fireworks, nothing in England would even come close to that, and there's some culture about that park too. There's also two fantastic water parks that Disney have, Blizzard beach, which has a 120ft slide as it's main feature, and typhoon lagoon that has a massive tidal wave. Wet'N'Wild is a good water park as well. Busch Gardens has one of the best rides I've ever been on, and is Safari based., Seaworld is absolutely immense, and would probably be my theme park recommendation to anyone going to Florida that's not been before, the shows are out of this world. The Universal studios are both really good as well.
Guest Posted 3 June 2009 Posted 3 June 2009 I refused to do Seaworld on principle. Those whales should be in the ocean, not an oversized swimming pool.

Epcot and the water parks are great but the other Disney parks are too kiddyish, boring unless you're under 10.
