Kisnorbo - I didn't want to leave!

Amazing really how quick people opinions change. Derided when he first came and played in midfield, converted to centre back and won two player of the year titles. Comes back from a bad injury this year and gets slagged off again.

He'll be appreciated somewhere else, I wish him luck.

Too be fair he was awful in midfield.

Crap, the team became a winning one because the level we were competing at dropped considerable not because we're massively better than we were last season. Kisnorbo is a proven decent Championshop centre half who attracted Premeirship interest at one point and I'm glad Pearson has the faith in Jack Hobbs to perform at a higher level but I'm not convinced that if (big if) Kisnorbo is able to get back to full fitness that he is a better player.

Hobbs did well enough at Scunny when they were in the Championship before.

And he's developed further since then, with the potential to make it all the way to the Premier League.

I don't think the same could be said about Kis.

But best of luck to him wherever he ends up.

How do you know that? An absolutely absurd statement.

Overall, our best player in terms of consistency between 2006 and 2008. Not good times, but he was the best

That doesn't mean he could be classed in the same bracket as Gerry Taggart, let alone the true City legends like Elliott or walsh.

well i think he IS a legend, hes been with us through it all over the last few years and has consistantly performed well in his defensive duties and has scored some important goals aswell!

not only did he want to stay at the club but he showed love towards the club and i like that.

just think though, he knows there have been other teams interested in him, there always was simply because hes a great player, but unlike others he didnt jump ship when things got bad he stayed and fought and i think thats admirable.

bye kissa!!! and good luck!

Legend  Walsh is a legend. Elliott is a legend. Lineker, Banks, Shilton, Weller, Glover, Claridge - all legends. You'd have to be smoking some seriously strong weed to even suggest Kisnorbo is in their bracket. He was scouted by top flight clubs for ages but none of them took a punt on him because they thought he wasn't worth the risk or the money. Nothing to do with his loyalty. If they'd given us the fair price and him the right wages, loyalty wouldn't even have been a second thought to him. In a struggling team, he was the best player in the XI, but he's not a legend and our worst runs and results last year - coincidence or not - came with him in the side.

Shake his hand, say good luck and move on. If we lose 2-0 at home to anyone next season, I certainly won't stand there and say "We should've kept that Aussie bloke, he would have stopped those goals".

Kisnorbo - as I have said before - is an awesome bloke, really down to Earth and genuinely does just want to play football. In no way is it all about the money with him and he's not an arrogant **** like some of the little runts you see running about the place.

That said, for me he's a defensive liability as he has a losing mentality and it seemed our defence and overall record was poor when he came in and disrupted the side last season. I know he's a good player, but he has a negative influence on our team. Time was right for the move, but I won't hold grudges against him as I actually like him.

At what point exactly did I say that he should be classed as a legend? He shouldn't. He was, as I put it 'the best of a bad bunch'. But I think he's been treated poorly by Pearson and we may regret letting him go when he scores against us next season.

Good luck Paddy. If the rest of our players were as committed as he was in 2007/8 there is absolutely no way that we would have gone down

Seconded. Can definitely see him scoring against us something flukey like Paddy McCarthy's against us >_<

I, too, was slightly shocked to see him released..... but times move on and Pearson obviously has no plans to use him, so along with most comments .....Goodbye Paddy and good luck with the rest of your career :thumbup::thumbup:

Its sad that hes having to leave with him being one of our longest serving players as we dont have many of them. I can see him doing really well at another championship club and coming back to haunt us.

At present tho i dont see a place for him in defence, but he my be needed if there were afew injuries. He was awful in midfield, and got alot of stick but when he went in defence he done a great job before he was injured.

Good luck to him

I wish Paddy all the best for the future. As already noted, his stint in midfield was a complete failure, but he performed well in a defence that was hard to breach, and contributed at the other end. Having said that, to me, he is synonymous with one of the worst spells of this club's history, and the unfortunate injuries leaving him unavailable for most of this season just compounds that feeling for me. If he'd have played more, those demons might have been exorcised.

Thats funny.......... Ive always heard the complete opposite and on the odd occasion I met him he was lovely. My friend and I accosted him and Hendo in town at a coffee shop on Xmas Eve and he chatted to us for ages, showed me the ring hed bought for his girlfriend and gave me a hug and a kiss.

He always used to give his shirt away at away games and was blatently NOT a "billy big bollox" you can see how the players interact and he didnt appear to be unpopular to me

Kisnorbo is one of the better players to have served us during the disgraceful years we've experienced from 2004-2008. It's a shame we didn't cash in on him when we could, as the money we could have got for him at the time may have helped us when we needed it most, but then we had absolute shithouse managers who would have blown it on East Bengal Tigers after they impressively ate a tortoise on youtube. So perhaps it's no great shame.

He's still championship class, but he's a hoofer and i'm sick and tired of those. Tunchev has shown us what a real defender can produce and when you are spoilt with eye sex like that, it's easy to neglect what Kisnorbo is capable of at times.

Tunchev, Hobbs and Morrison are the future though.

not a legend but always gave 110% on the field would have been good for cover for hobbs or tunch but respect to him for his time & effort cheers paddy & good luck in the future untill you come up against us

I couldn't possibly comment on that seeing as I'm not up to speed with internal affairs, but I know in the public domain away from the club he was a top bloke, about as genuine as you could expect to meet. I'd much rather hold a conversation with/be in the company of Kisnorbo than people like Mattock currently, or Sheehan, Hayes and Hayles from a different time.

Fair enough I haven't met him in person and can quite believe he's an ok chap. I was just stating what I heard from my cousin who used to work in the media department at lcfc.

Apparently he doesn't see eye to eye with some of the new backroom staff or players........I was the players player of the year last season blah blah blah. Not happy about not being given a proper chance (which is understandable). Apparently causing a bit of tension in the camp, NP clearly won't be having any of that.

Just relaying what I have been told.........don't shoot the messenger!

Ex-Leicester defender Kisnorbo hopes for Ipswich move

14.06.09 | tribalfootball.com

Released Leicester City defender Patrick Kisnorbo wants to stay in England next season.

Ipswich and Crystal Palace have been linked with the Australia international, who is currently home in Melbourne.

He said: “I was very disappointed to be released. I thought I was still good enough for the team but the gaffer had other plans.

“There was a chance of me going out on loan, but then Leicester changed their mind.

“The gaffer told me before the last game at Crewe that I wouldn't be offered a new deal so I was not involved at all in that one.”

Kisnorbo added: “I have to show Leicester next season what they are missing because I'm desperate to stay in the Championship.”

Former Leicester defender Kisnorbo eyeing World Cup

19.06.09 | Andrew Slevison

Former Leicester City defender Patrick Kisnorbo is hoping he can turn his fortunes around and make a late push for Australia’s 2010 World Cup squad.

The ex-Foxes captain is looking to move to one of two interested clubs, Crystal Palace or Ipswich, so he can remain in England and show his wares to Socceroos coach Pim Verbeek.

“I’m fully fit and looking forward to a new challenge at a new club. What happened at Leicester wasn’t nice,” Kisnorbo said.

“The injury was an issue but when I recovered the boss there (Nigel Worthington) used it as a bit of an excuse not to play me.

“It did hurt being let go by a club where I was the fans player of the year twice and where I was also the captain for a spell. I felt like I was pretty much thrown out by a manager who didn’t want me. I felt used and unwanted.

“But my priority is not to put that all behind me and get my career back on track and have a go at making the Socceroos squad for South Africa.

“Pim (Verbeek) has been in touch on a few occasions checking on me and he knows how hungry I am to get back into a position where I can challenge for a place again, which makes the next season really important for me, just like it is for the rest of the Aussie boys wherever they play.”
