Tevez Posted 9 June 2009 Posted 9 June 2009 Stupid how people put others names down so they can play and people like flanimal get ignored. Agree.
Sparky Posted 9 June 2009 Posted 9 June 2009 I put Robbos down due to the fact he does not get on here nearly as much as he would like and has been involveed in 90% of Foxestalk matches . If anybody has issues with that then ill be around saturday lunchtime come have a word with me
Tevez Posted 9 June 2009 Posted 9 June 2009 I put Robbos down due to the fact he does not get on here nearly as much as he would like and has been involveed in 90% of Foxestalk matches . If anybody has issues with that then ill be around saturday lunchtime come have a word with me It's going to be an endless arguement though. There is going to be no right or wrong about it just your own opinion, yeah they have got a right to feel fooked over about it, but the problem is are they trustworthy to turn up and we've took the approach that in games vs other forums which in most aspects of forums playing games is safe and sensible. But the opportunities for other people to have a knock around and congregate with other members of the forum is getting shorter by the game. If Flanimal got his name down in time then include him in, we've also got a reserve list if he doesn't come. An example is Smuts who (I think) he said will turn up anyway. At the end of the day (It's night) I don't think anyone is going to express their concern or issues on Saturday their just going to feel a little bit fooked over by a policy that has it's right and wrongs.

But until rules are put in place it will continue. I am all for new lads getting a go , even if it came down to drawing names out of the hat. One of the main issues we have is people putting thier names down to play and then not turning up leaving a gap that somebody could have filled, for me they should be the guys who then have to miss out in later matches I will end you. Bring it bigboy
Bert Posted 9 June 2009 Posted 9 June 2009 Says a squad max of 24, no minimums. Shingler, stop being a fucking little baby.
Bert Posted 9 June 2009 Posted 9 June 2009 Personally, I think Smuts and yourself should get in, bumping it up to 20. With the others as reserve, simply because you've both played majority of games and are fairly reliable, especially if we're going to be playing 2 games in July.
General Smuts Posted 9 June 2009 Posted 9 June 2009 Bring it bigboy Oooh matron ... Says a squad max of 24, no minimums. Shingler, stop being a fucking little baby. To be fair he just wants a game of football same as the other 4 people on the reserve list, there's no need to jump on his back for it. I know how he feels and if you hadn't organised most of the games, you might do too (this is not a criticism before you jump on this comment as well, were all very greatful for you organising). My point being that if you aren't quick enough to put you're name down you are at the mercy of the organisers as to squad sizing and basically someone picks a number and people miss out. This as you can imagine is fooking annoying for those like Shingles who are desperate to play and get involved. As Tevez said, i'll probably turn up anyway as i normally do, however i'd much rather be playing (and know that i'm definately playing) due to the distance i'd be travelling to get to the game.

I am all for this if the maximum is 24, I really don't want to manage 24, 22 is the highest I would go. I will echo what Sparky says if anyone has issue with the way the team is picked speak to me on Saturday. I didn't even see Flaminals post tbh, he didn't add his name to the list so it's easily done.

Well he needs to wake up and get his name down then. Fact is people will miss out as many do want to play, I don't like doing it but managing a squad of 24 is impossible, anything over 16 is a fooking head ache.

I can see what you're saying mate. What I'd like to say is, it's hard enough to organise things as it is, managing a squad and making it so everyone gets a fair amount of time as everyone else. But when people start moaning, because they haven't got their name down quick enough due to the squad limit that's been set, then there's not a lot we can do, because we can't please everyone. We know the people we can rely, and the ones who have a put a lot of effort into making these events what they are, which is why we created "Foxestalk Caps" to give people priority who could always be relied upon. I am all for this if the maximum is 24, I really don't want to manage 24, 22 is the highest I would go.I will echo what Sparky says if anyone has issue with the way the team is picked speak to me on Saturday. General Smuts Posted 9 June 2009 Posted 9 June 2009 I'm not fussed about who plays or squad size or organisation at all i just think the treatment of reserve players (especially Shingles) isn't up to par tbh.

Maybe its time for a decent debate on team selections. More and more people want to play in Foxestalk matches so maybe we ought to look it to it a bit more.
Manwell Pablo Posted 9 June 2009 Posted 9 June 2009 I'm not fussed about who plays or squad size or organisation at all i just think the treatment of reserve players (especially Shingles) isn't up to par tbh. His name wasn't down in the first 18 what am I suppose to do?
Uncle Albert Posted 9 June 2009 Posted 9 June 2009 It's maximum of 24 so if Herr Albert gets his way it'll still be the 18 first picked dropping to however many after dropouts. Don't bring me into this, I was just saying my opinion on the matter. You wouldnt be having a moan and sticking up for Shingler if you were in the 18. I'm not getting into an argument over selections but at the end of the day if people don't get there name's down then it's their own problem, people must have realised by now that places for these games get snapped up very quickly, look how long it took to find 40+ names for the 6 a side? So getting 18 quickly wasn't going to take long.
General Smuts Posted 9 June 2009 Posted 9 June 2009 His name wasn't down in the first 18 what am I suppose to do? I'm not saying that - calling him a fooking little baby wasn't called for though (i'm also aware this wasn't you).

Very mature His name wasn't down in the first 18 what am I suppose to do? Im not complaining about not playing its just the fact that most are you our good mates so theres not really a good chance of me getting to play and i no i should have put my name down but when i look back and people have put there mates name on the the list i just hard done by as must the rest of the reserves.

It's not just Shingler that i'm 'sticking up' for, the likes Of David Guiza behind him in the queue and Flanimal who unfortunately was overlooked in the listing (but as he hasn't spoken up since i can't see that being a major issue) and anyone else who wants to play but can't get on the list. As has always been the case, there should be a sign up thread for any event, then based on interest a squad size should be picked and then based on the first come first served basis of this list, a reserve list should be made out of those outside of the numbers. This should save any arguments aside from the usual putting someone else's name down point.

Yea I don't agree with people putting people's names down, me, Tommeh and Tevez are good mates outside the Forum but we only put our own names down so I can see what people are saying but again I see what Sparky says that people are reliable like Robbo so his name should be put down for games. This is an argument that even I have realised is not going to be won by anyone. Shingler the chances of someone dropping out are high, people will have signed up for this and not realised that they have something else on the day of the tournament. Always the case.

Frustrating as that is I presume people have requested their name to be put down as they can't get near a cpu at the time. Anyway your're first reserve now by the looks of it and it seems you've got your name down for the Notts County thing should it happen.

lildave3 Posted 9 June 2009 Posted 9 June 2009 Turns out i'll be back that day, probably about 10ish. So i'll come and watch. Gutted I can't play in it though
Bert Posted 9 June 2009 Posted 9 June 2009 I'm not saying that - calling him a fooking little baby wasn't called for though (i'm also aware this wasn't you). Well if Shingler realised just how hard stuff like this is to sort out, then maybe I wouldn't have said it. You or Ashley didn't moan when they realised the squad was full, just settled for a reserve spot. Turns out i'll be back that day, probably about 10ish. So i'll come and watch. Gutted I can't play in it though Stick your name on the reserve list.
