Samilktray Posted 25 June 2009 Posted 25 June 2009 Palacios is a beast I agree, but Fletcher on the otherhand is Sir Alex's rent boy. He uses him in most shit games and tbh, all you have to ask yourself is who you would rather have, Fletcher or Fabregas. Fabregas is worth alot more money than Fletcher surely? Because you were too stupid to take note last time. Darren Fletcher was the main man in a team who challenged seriously on all fronts. Hes been pivotal to there success this season, if you ask most Yanited fans I bet theyll say hes been just as important as Ronaldo or Rooney, if not more important this year.

Half the Man Utd fans live in India and China and what not. Also, most people who support United don't even know half the team. You can say all you want, but I would much rather have Fabregas over Fletcher. I am sorry, but their is no chance that Fletcher has been as important as Ronaldo, let alone more important. Im not trying to say that Fletcher is a bag of shit, he's just not as good as Fabregas & im sure most people would agree.
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 25 June 2009 Posted 25 June 2009 Dazmond is at least worthy of respect, regardless of what people think of him ability-wise, unlike Fabregas, the spitting little willy puller.
AyewJoking Posted 27 June 2009 Posted 27 June 2009 Cesc is one of my favourite players but he clearly thinks he is bigger than Arsenal so in my opinion Wenger should get rid of him to the highest bidder.
Uncle Albert Posted 27 June 2009 Posted 27 June 2009 I agree, best midfielder in the league. Essien is noway near being the best centre midfielder in the league. Essien over Lampard and Gerrard? Have a word. Palacios is a beast I agree, but Fletcher on the otherhand is Sir Alex's rent boy. He uses him in most shit games and tbh, all you have to ask yourself is who you would rather have, Fletcher or Fabregas. Fabregas is worth alot more money than Fletcher surely? Fergie only uses Fletcher in the shit games? That's why Fletcher made the second most appearences in United's midfield and Fletcher played in every game against the 'top four' this season? Idiot. At this moment in time I would prefer Fletcher to Fabregas, what is so special about Fabregas? He is a poor man's Iniesta and if Iniesta was fit then Fabregas wouldnt of got in the Spain starting XI. Xabi Alonso is prefered to Fabregas. Fabregas can make passes and that's about it but he can't make last ditch slide tackles, he can't sprint the length of the pitch to support play and I don't think he would get into Liverpool's or Chelsea's starting teams, he would get into United's over Anderson.
breadandcheese Posted 27 June 2009 Posted 27 June 2009 Essien is noway near being the best centre midfielder in the league. Essien over Lampard and Gerrard? Have a word. Game of opinions based on what type of player you like. For me Essien is best as I've always preferred a defensive protector in the team, valuing their worth more highly than the attacking central midfielder. The fact is, Lampard and Gerrard are world-class midfielders, but there are similar players who can do a job and their teams can play well without them. However, take Essien or Mascherano out the team, and neither Chelsea or Liverpool can dominate as much, to allow Lampard and Gerrard to shine. It is no surprise that Chelsea started playing their best football towards the ened of the season when Essien returned from injury. That had more of an impact than Hiddink. So it is personal choice, I prefer a defensive midfielder to an attacking one, as he is the engine of the whole team, especially one like Essien who has all the skills in his locker.

Yea to be fair if it wasnt for Gerrard and Lampard's 20 goals a peice this season then they wouldnt of finished 2nd and 3rd. Mascherano and Essien prevented so much and they were both the reason why Liverpool and Chlesea played better football.

Someone like Lampard only has the freedom to play further forward because he has Essien sitting behind him dominating the midfield. You only have to compare Lampard for Chelsea to Lampard for England to see the difference it makes. Similarly, Fabregas was excellent when he had Flamini to do the dirty work, with Denilson alongside him, he was not as good. Gerrard is a slightly different kettle of fish in that he is played off Torres in a free role higher up the pitch. I would still argue that without Mascherano there to boss the midfield, Alonso would not be able to display his range of passing and Liverpool would not dominate matches creating fewer chances for Gerrard or Torres. My point is that without the base defensive midfielder of the team, the flair players and goal-scorers will struggle, as everything is built off the midfield's dominance. Another example is Barcelona's relative performances against Man U and Chelsea. Man U in the final did not a midfield enforcer. They were carved apart and made to look like pub players. Ronaldo, one of the best 3 players on the planet, could do nothing, as his team could not dominate the midfield. Compare this with Chelsea's performance in the semis. Essien was immense and this stopped Barca from playing as they would have liked. Indeed, I'm sure Barca found Chelsea a tougher team to play than United as a result.
Uncle Albert Posted 27 June 2009 Posted 27 June 2009 To think Mascherano and Essien are worth more to Liverpool and Chelsea than Gerrard and Lamps is just stupid.
breadandcheese Posted 27 June 2009 Posted 27 June 2009 To think Mascherano and Essien are worth more to Liverpool and Chelsea than Gerrard and Lamps is just stupid. The glory positions generally always attract the larger transfer sums. Most fans admire teams for their attacking players, not their defensive minded players. On top of that, Ronaldo, Kaka, Gerrard, Lampard will shift more shirts and merchandise than defensive players. As I say, it is a matter of opinions. I've always valued the player who is the engine of a midfield more than the goalscorer or flair player. It's them who make the team tick, and give the freedom to the likes of Gerrard and Lampard to play further up the field. My last point on this is, look at Real Madrid. The first galaticos era declined when they sold Makelele. Zidane always says he was the most important player in their team. When he was sold to Chelsea, they went into decline, despite having Figo, Zidane, etc.
C-man Posted 27 June 2009 Posted 27 June 2009 If Fabregas left it wouldn't botther me in the slightest. He's an exceptional player but not one I look for on MOTD. There are far more interesting players in the Premiership. Arteta for example.
purpleronnie Posted 27 June 2009 Posted 27 June 2009 You should know better than compare foreign players to british ones, the brits always win we have the best players in every position. FACT!
