Jonesy_rules Posted 7 July 2009 Posted 7 July 2009 Ok, I've just checked the last time that I came on here, and it was April 2008, well over a year ago - the reason for this is mainly because I have been studying gawddarnhard at University and have managed to pull of a 2.1 BA Hons in Journalism (and Media Studies) which I'm very chuffed about. Also I spend a fair bit of my time in Birmingham visiting the misses Although, I have still managed to find time to visit lcfconline so not sure why not here. However, I thought I'd pop on here and say hi again, see what's going on (as the above forum is silent) and thought I'd also promote my blog Do We Need Another Hero It's a blog which, as the blurb for the associated facebook group (if you wish to join, it's under the name: do we need another hero?) says: A blogger who says everything that we are all thinking (and more of what we're not!)Blogs on here, range from 'Avril Lavigne' to 'Worthless science experiements', with a bit of 'Sport', 'Current Affairs' and 'Cakes' thrown in! It'd be great if you could promote the blog and if any of you are blogspot users / visit it, leave a comment. Cheers

Uncle Monty Posted 8 July 2009 Posted 8 July 2009 I was hoping for a Charlie Brooker-esk rant. Not quite what I expected.

Cheers Being greeted by a plagiarised BBC article, and then a glaring spelling mistake in the first line of the second, initial impression is not positive. Sorry.
Jonesy_rules Posted 9 July 2009 Author Posted 9 July 2009 Daggers, i've taken on board your comments and have slightly altered the latest blog to highlight that the FACTS AND QUOTES have been taken from the BBC News. Sorry that some of you haven't enjoyed the blog - but personal tastes and all that. Is there any topic you would like to read about?

Cheers Any luck getting a job with that degree?......
Jonesy_rules Posted 13 July 2009 Author Posted 13 July 2009 Any luck getting a job with that degree?...... Not at the moment, but it's just a matter of applying anywhere and everywhere in the country and hoping that something comes along. There are a few jobs that I'm waiting to hear back from, so fingers crossed with them.
MrBojangles Posted 13 July 2009 Posted 13 July 2009 Hi there. Congratulations on your degree. I studied a nine-month journalism course at De Montfort about six years ago and after doing all the reporter stuff I'm now chief sub on a daily paper. It's not glamorous and I know I won't be here for the rest of my career, but I thoroughly enjoy it. I'm not sure what you want to do with your degree, but keep plugging away with CVs and covering letters. There are still the jobs out there, no matter what people say.

To be a chief sub on a daily paper would be a god send at this moment in time - but as you said, the jobs are out there and I'm applying for them, it's just a matter of getting the right response from them once I have. I found out during my graduation, that a job with a small company, which I applied for (and had the first interview for) a friend and course mate got. Pipping me and another coursemate to it! Back to the blog and two new ones have been added!
Daggers Posted 20 July 2009 Posted 20 July 2009 Is there any topic you would like to read about? Emma Watson's tits, in the other thread, was good. Got any material like that?
Jonesy_rules Posted 19 August 2009 Author Posted 19 August 2009 Emma Watson's tits, in the other thread, was good.Got any material like that? there's a thing called CLASS
Finnegan Posted 19 August 2009 Posted 19 August 2009 there's a thing called CLASS That was pretty classy for Daggers, to be fair.
James. Posted 19 August 2009 Posted 19 August 2009 there's a thing called CLASS Bit ironic you saying that given that one of your blogs praises Peter Andre.
Part Of The Crowd Posted 19 August 2009 Posted 19 August 2009 Bit ironic you saying that given that one of your blogs praises Peter Andre. Being fair, Peter Andre came over quite well on his programme the other day. That and he was asking whether a shirt made him look gay, which made me laugh. Shit popstar though.

Pipping me and another coursemate to it! I can't see why any (presumably) young journalist would want to be a chief sub. It's the definition of boring. If you want excitement from a career in journalism drop a line to someone like Barbara Jones (author of the book on Sonia Sutcliffe among many other things and currently caked in the muck and bullets of the Middle East).
