Fez of Mahrez Posted 18 July 2009 Posted 18 July 2009 Pretty convinced it was Adi Yusseff who came on and scored, not Jorrin John. Anderson was there reporting on it and they read it out as Jorrin John over the tannoy but sure it was a case of mistaken identity. We were very poor on the whole. Best player was Jonny Hayes who looked quick and positive. Defensively - Rowe-Turner, Bolger and Parkes looked a little bit shaky but got better as the game went on. Cisak dropped one or two high balls in the first half. Milnes and Douglas down the right gave it everything but I can't see them making it on that showing. Going forward - Verma played the first 45 and barely got a kick, looked very average which is a shame because he played well at Loughborough. Wesolowski played the full 90 and showed glimpses of his former self but was largely ordinary. Porter came on at half-time and the same applies to him. DJ played the first 45 and looked a cut above in terms of touch and energy but didn't quite impose himself enough, missing one good chance over the bar. I think it was Hicks and Yusseff who came on at half-time and they looked really good. Billy Kee also did okay but didn't quite get the breaks. One impressive header hit the bar. First 45 we were by far the worse side. Second half the fitness probably showed and Sappleton stuck two decent finishes away. Overall, not great at all. Result flattered us in a big way.
Ultra Posted 18 July 2009 Posted 18 July 2009 Indeed, the only one not involved, and nobody seems to know anything about, is Harry Worley. Has he left? I thought that he was released at the end of last season and had a trial at Hartlepool.
Daggers Posted 18 July 2009 Posted 18 July 2009 From OS Striker DJ Campbell tasted his first pre-season action and Taggart said "He has been training for the last couple of weeks and this was his first run out and I think he's a bit of a cunt to be honest." Harsh words there from Taggart. Harsh but fair.
Corky Posted 18 July 2009 Posted 18 July 2009 How did Verma do? Hardly in the game at all, the King's Lynn centre midfield looked stronger. Weso looked better after the break, should've scored too.
markbsac Posted 18 July 2009 Posted 18 July 2009 i bet campbell hated putting on that leicester shirt after slagging us off !
Ultra Posted 18 July 2009 Posted 18 July 2009 i bet campbell hated putting on that leicester shirt after slagging us off ! I don't think he'll be wearing it too many more times -certainly not in games where there's a crowd..

General Smuts Posted 19 July 2009 Author Posted 19 July 2009 Cisak - Not good. 5/10 Milnes - Solid 6/10 Boulger - Rock. Won every header - 7/10 Parkes - Solid 6/10 Rowe-Turner - Woeful - 4/10 Douglas - Not good - 5/10 Verma - Touches of class not a great game though - 6/10 Wesolowski - Better 2nd half than first - 7/10 Hayes - Outclassed Magunda and the left back. One of our better players - 8/10 Campbell - Offside as much as usual, strong but pointless - 6/10 Kee - Good game unlucky not too score - 8/10 Subs: C King (67 for Hayes) - Didn't offer as much as Hayes but ok - 6/10 Hicks (45 for Verma) - Solid - 6/10 John (45 for Campbell) - Very good. 7/10 Sappleton (67 for Kee) - BEST PLAYER EVER!!!! Quality brace. Porter (45 for Douglas) - Did ok. - 6/10

MC Prussian Posted 19 July 2009 Posted 19 July 2009 Woohoo - you could call that a three-game unbeaten run...
