Jonezy Posted 3 October 2009 Posted 3 October 2009 Thats impressive. Hopefully some of these youngsters will make it through to the first team over the next few years.
Thracian Posted 3 October 2009 Posted 3 October 2009 Another outstanding result against a side that is traditionally at or very near the top of the table. Another three goal return as well, maintaining their record of scoring at least three in every game.
Steven Posted 3 October 2009 Posted 3 October 2009 From the OS. Leicester City U18s 3 Aston Villa U18s 2Posted on: Sat 03 Oct 2009 Leicester City's U18s side made it seven wins out of seven games against their Aston Villa counterparts, in a pulsating encounter. Adi Yussef opened the scoring for the young Foxes, which was followed up by Elliott Chamberlain to put the away side 2-0 up at the half-time interval. Extremely windy conditions gave both sides difficulty and City's lead was cut in half as Villa clawed their way back after the break. However, Chamberlain completed his brace to establish City's two goal lead and put his side 3-1 ahead. The City youngsters came under the cosh a little and Villa pulled a consolation goal back with a minute to go, after Ambrusics had made some vital saves. Academy Manager, Jon Rudkin, said: "We are delighted for all of the lads, who have made a tremendous start to the season. This victory came against difficult opponents, but once again, the team has shown a great work ethic and determination to improve as players and they have been rewarded with the result." The Foxes will now look to make it eight out of eight and continue their 100% record this season, against Tottenham Hotspur at the Belvoir Drive training ground, on Saturday October 10th. Team: Ambrusics, Moore, Taft, Milne, Bolger, Parkes ©, John (Tebbutt), Norburn (Schlupp), Hicks, Chamberlain, Yussef (Hoban).
Corky Posted 3 October 2009 Posted 3 October 2009 Well done to the lads and coaching staff. Hope they can caryy their great form on.
Salieri Posted 3 October 2009 Posted 3 October 2009 Seem like a very talented group of youngsters, i hope at least a couple of them end up making the first team in years to come. For anyone who watches them on a regular basis, is there one or two "stand out" players amongst them?

Yeah, in terms of who I think will make it with City, Tom Parkes (centre back) and perhaps Adi Yusseff (striker) and Jorrin John (right winger this season)
Leicesterboi Posted 5 October 2009 Posted 5 October 2009 Yeah, in terms of who I think will make it with City, Tom Parkes (centre back) and perhaps Adi Yusseff (striker) and Jorrin John (right winger this season) Jeff Schlupp? From what I have seen and heard, him and Billy Kee have been the best youth talents since Andy King and Mattock.
leicesterfox86 Posted 5 October 2009 Posted 5 October 2009 Awesome stuff, has to be promising for the future. Maybe throw a couple of them in towards the end of the season depending on how much we have to play for?
Fez of Mahrez Posted 6 October 2009 Posted 6 October 2009 Jeff Schlupp? From what I have seen and heard, him and Billy Kee have been the best youth talents since Andy King and Mattock. Schlupp was good in the first game I saw (Norwich) but was subbed after anonymous displays in the next two (Arsenal and Coventry). Struggles to get in the game from the left wing from what I've seen.
Thracian Posted 6 October 2009 Posted 6 October 2009 Yeah, in terms of who I think will make it with City, Tom Parkes (centre back) and perhaps Adi Yusseff (striker) and Jorrin John (right winger this season) Levi Porter reportedly described Jorrin John as the most talented player he'd ever seen at his age and I've largely failed to understand why until this season when he's matued enormously as an all-round winger. Skillful and mobile with a Gradel-like ability to make things happen, Jorrin has added workrate to his game and seems much more willing to play his part in winning possession back. Defensively his appreciation of the team requirement is much better and once possession is regained he's perfectly willing and able to play the simple, non-risk pass and wait to use his more destructive skills for further upfield. He also seems far more professional in his attitude and more at peace with himself. I'd agree too about Yussef, but am not so convinced about Parkes although the lad does seem very highly rated. For me he's another who tries what's beyond him when he wins possession at centre-back - the big, long thirty-yard pass that's invariably intercepted. Still you did say "make it with City" and that does seem to be approved of even at first team level so you may be well be right. Me I'd go with Cian Bolger as our most promising centre-back. With a quick guy alongside him Bolger is a giant who has the invaluable ability to leap high, linger in the air and score goals. How we'd like that in the first team. He's not the quickest but non of our senior centre-backs are. Otherwise I'd mention George Taft. He looks raw at the moment but is a big lad for a full-back and the sort who, with a bit more attitude, might become an important weapon in attack at set-pieces if they can get him to ghost in on the far post. Speed of recovery might be his Achilles heel and he needs to shift ball quicker but the ingredients are there as they might also be for Liam Moore as a right-back because, although not so tall, he really does have a prodigious leap and that's a quality that should guarantee plenty of easy possession. Finally I'd mention Ben Milnes. In all probability Milnes will prove too small and lightweight. But if they can muscle him up enough the lad has a smashing football brain and is deadly accurate with his set-piece deliveries. It's something our first team's been in embarrassing need of since Sheehan left but I'd love to see the table of assists for Milnes and the total when broken down between open ply and set-pieces. Most if not all of Bolger goals this season, plus another that was disallowed, came from point-perfect Milnes crosses and he's done well enough to influence play from central midfield against some top Premiership youth teams and some much bigger and seemingly stronger opponents. I expect he'll fall into oblivion like so mny small playes but hope not. He's such a positive thinker and such an industrious worker who does much to help his team-mates play.
