Tommeh Posted 13 October 2009 Posted 13 October 2009 Pick up 8 3 and push. Thats what I do and have many witnesses. Intend to do it at Maybes' friday.

Simi Posted 13 October 2009 Posted 13 October 2009 On the subject, anyone care to arrange some sort of online game for Foxestalk members? Was just thinking that, wouldn't bother if it was just on Facebook though. Anyone got enough FPP on Stars to set up a private table or something?
Joe. Posted 13 October 2009 Posted 13 October 2009 I have unfortunately twice been the victim of Tom's twattish 8, 3 push. Crushing stuff.

Alexikokopops Posted 14 October 2009 Posted 14 October 2009 Pick up 8 3 and push. Thats what I do and have many witnesses.Intend to do it at Maybes' friday. Amateur, everyone knows it's the 5 3 off! If you have a 3 5 off then push all in. Never fails.
Unabomber Posted 15 October 2009 Posted 15 October 2009 Was just thinking that, wouldn't bother if it was just on Facebook though.Anyone got enough FPP on Stars to set up a private table or something? I could potentially make this happen. Anyway with poker, the closer you are to the dealer button the more your hand value increases. For example, if you have ace ten and you are first to act you should fold, however if everyone folds to you and you have the dealer button ace ten is a massive hand. This is because you get to make your decision last, meaning you get to act after you have already seen what those have done before you, if they all check then you must bet. If you face a bet and a raise you should fold, unless you have a hand that can't be beat. I mean ofcourse it is best to have a good hand like two pair or a set, but realistically you will pick up pot after pot by betting when people before you check/are afraid to try to win the hand. It is good to remember that just because people bet it doesn't mean they have you beat, as long as you bet/re raise them, you have control of the pot, and that is the situation you want to be in.

And dont limp under the gun!!!!! and dont call an all in on a flush or straight draw!!!!
Uncle Albert Posted 15 October 2009 Posted 15 October 2009 If your just starting to play poker one thing I would advise is not to play for big money straight off. I remember when me and Tevez used to do Poker nights with our lot, every Thursday night round someones house and the first 5-6 months of that we only played with coppers and biggest bet was 50p. Then we gradually moved upto playing with chips and a fiver buy-in. Never looked back. And going all in on 8 3 is nothing to be proud of Tom. <_<
Simi Posted 15 October 2009 Posted 15 October 2009 And dont limp under the gun!!!!! Strong play limping up front with AA's! Wouldn't reccomend it to a beginner though.

foxoffderby Posted 15 October 2009 Posted 15 October 2009 Was just thinking that, wouldn't bother if it was just on Facebook though.Anyone got enough FPP on Stars to set up a private table or something? im up for this I play often on poker stars under the alias of montana (long story). I started on stars and learnt the hard way getting stung a lot. My advice is anyone wanting to start up dont. Its the most addictive game in the world. Take it easy and only gambel as much as you can realistically afford to lose. Because you lose more often than not even if you think your good some donkey will suck out on you. I've been playing for 6 years now and im quite experienced dont play much online now but once a month play with my mates in Derby a cash game. I've also played at the Ballagio in Vegas which was an experience. I played at Mandalaay Bay for a week played everyday for a week and was down overall. On the last day of holiday I went to the Ballagio played a $300 buyin cash game and after a slow start a busted at least 4 people. Needless to say I won back all my spending money for the week I'd lost playing poker and the fruit machines and I even won back my spending money on food and shows etc. In the end I made about a $1200 profit from the holiday which was a result

I find it depends on what kind of table you're at. I've done it a couple of times knowing that the person in the big blind can't resist a squeeze play or the guy on the button loves to play a big pot in posistion. But at a strong table I agree it's not going to be profitable.

Got beat by someone with 9 4 not long ago when I had AA and I had raised pre-flop. The nob called and hit 2 pair (he had no right being in that hand after my raise cos it was pretty big blinds by then, but that's Party Poker for you)

maddog Posted 15 October 2009 Posted 15 October 2009 the sooner you get away from that site the better, good to start playing but full of donkeys Those are the sort of bad beats that are an extremely frequent occurence on online poker. Thats why people call with shitty hands, because more often than not they win. And usually on the river. I still feel online poker is fixed somehow with the amount of bad beats/river beats.

Personally the worst thing for me with AA's is when the board comes like QJ9 all one suit, I hate that. I still feel online poker is fixed somehow with the amount of bad beats/river beats. That is bound to happen though with the amount of hands that are played per second. The ratio of 100/1 shots being hit is going to be a lot higher than it is just playing live.

It's true, I've been learning that more lately. But sometimes I put someone on a hand and then have to prove it to myself by calling when I know I'm beat. It's bad, but good for the ego occasionly! I'm usually a bit more passive pre-flop that gets me into a lot of trouble sometimes, but it's profitable when you hit I find.

foxoffderby Posted 15 October 2009 Posted 15 October 2009 Nice story, happen to play with or meet any of the pros? At ballagio there are pros and celebs in there all the time all year long. When I was there there were some american celebs but i nver heard of them. But the yanks on table were going crazy over these people. Sometimes me and my mates go to Dusk'till Dawn in Nottingham. You get some of the top British pros who play on channel 5 and on Sky. To be honest I've seen them in there but i've not played with them as they go for the high end cash games. Im doing well for myself at the moment but these boys play big league, high stakes poker im not at that stage yet. But if your ever in Notts come to Dusk 'till' dawn just off the A52 towards the QMC the pros are there.

BoneDog Posted 16 October 2009 Posted 16 October 2009 the sooner you get away from that site the better, good to start playing but full of donkeys I know what you mean about Party Poker but the only other one I'm on is Littlewoods at the mo. On PP I mostly just play $11 double or nothings which are pretty easy to win cos you only have to get in top 5 out of 10 to get $20 back. I win more than I lose (on double or nothings) and when I lose it's normally to a donk (cos I am pretty tight with my chips). I did play a $33 table not long ago (top 3 for win) and I came 1st got $150. I was buzzing but not played one since!
