Fosse Boy Posted 16 October 2009 Posted 16 October 2009 Does anyone have any favourite rockumentaries? My mate showed me Anvil! The Story of Anvil today. I'd never heard of this band before but it turned out to be a great story about a Canadian metal band in their fifties who were still trying to make it. Had a really touching ending. Lovely stuff. Oh, Spinal Tap is a given by the way.
Lillehamring Posted 16 October 2009 Posted 16 October 2009 not a rocumentary, but i watched the TV movie 'Pop rocks' with Midnight Caller gary cole... i thought it was pretty good

Guest Posted 17 October 2009 Posted 17 October 2009 Oh, Spinal Tap is a given by the way. But it is the best. Whatever happened to Peter Richardson? That was his name, wasn't it?
Smudge Posted 17 October 2009 Posted 17 October 2009 Brilliant DVD, Joe Strummer was just an amazing guy.

Fosse Boy Posted 18 October 2009 Author Posted 18 October 2009 I was a little bit disappointed with that. Didn't seem to offer much apart from the actual live footage. Maybe I should check out Westway to the World.

You really should, it's mainly interviews interspersed with footage that is relative to what they are talking about.

Oh, Spinal Tap is a given by the way. I saw Anvil today as well. It really is a great documentary. Looking at how hard they try and how long they've stayed together makes you wish that they got a break instead of some of the dicks in music these days. You can really see they care for the music and the fans and that bit at the end made them so happy. Flight 666 is also worth a mention, some great stuff in there.

To be fair, Lips from Anvil has a pretty shit voice. Glad they've finally got some recognition though. Flight 666 was pretty good, Maiden have an unbelievable worldwide fanbase.

Maiden's fanbase is ridiculous, some of the fans though, my god. The guy that just broke down in tears upon getting the drumstick, that was quite special. The South American fans are nutters aswell.
Finnegan Posted 20 October 2009 Posted 20 October 2009 I was totally about to bring this up . Genius.
