Swansea Away Post Match Thread

That first half performance cost us the game. We sat too deep and didn't show much effort in closing the ball down. To be fair to Swansea, they played with a quicker tempo than the two previous games against us, which subsequently created more openings for them. However, we didn't help ourself by being unable to retain the ball for any length of time. The one time we did resulted in our best chance of the first half - Fryatt poking over the bar from close range.

Pearson tried to restrict their passing by playing Yann deeper and marking their deep-lying midfielder Britton (Number 7). As the first half wore on, he seemed to forget to do this and thus allowed Britton to gain control of the midfield.

The second half matched what we had done in the previous two games against them; we pushed higher up the pitch and disrupted their passing game. It's a risk with a slow defence but it was the only way we were going to have any impact going forward. While we didn't create many clear-cut chances, N'Guessan really should have scored.

I think on the balance of play, a point would have been a fair result. Unfortunately, you could also argue that our lack of quality in the final third meant we deserved nothing.

Interesting reading your posts, don't think its as doom and gloom as you make out lol. Its your first season back in the championship I would not be suprised if you make the play offs (seen you 3 imes now).

First half we totally dominated and based on the performance should have been further ahead (However Fryatt had a great chance to score after ten mins). Our problem is we have got a great 5 man midfield, with strength in depth in that area too, that dominates teams week in week out and creates plenty of chances - but then only have one up front so cant finish them!!!

You've been a pain in the arse to us this season and i think if you got a goal in the second half it would have had a sense of inevitability that you probaly would then have won 2-1, but although the game was far more even in the second half we gave you 2 great chances to score with misplaced passes (was starting to get a bit nervy there).

From what I could see you should have a had a pen in the second half after a reckless tackle by joe allen, but saying that i think the result was a fair one overall, and certainly over the 3 games we deserved a win. In fact after seeing how the previous games changed in the second half following our superior first half performances it was no suprise that Sausa & co were ready for your improved second half.

Couple of points from earlier topics:

Your away support was not the highest we have had this season, obviously Cardiff sold their allocation (circa 1800 i think) and also i'm sure Forest brought a few more. In general away support is alway dissapointing due to geography (only Cardiff & Bristol within 150 miles of us).

"Swansea is a shit hole" - parts are yes, where its nice its very very nice and where its bad "its a shit hole" lol for those who are interested the Gower, Mumbles, Marina are all worth a visit if you after nice beaches, views etc.

Final note - could we end up meeting in the play offs so it would be 5 matches this season between us??

Crikey, I hope not - you bore the tits off me (not you personally, the team). :D

There's only so passing across the back four I can take.

As for our away following: bad weather, just after Christmas, plenty of away games coming up etc. :/

Just imagine how they'd all have reacted if they'd gone to the Vetch - now that was a urine-soaked shithole :D

Good spirit.

Same with us, many would jump at the chance to return to Filbert Street.

Guted I never go to visit the Vetch :(

Pretty much how we feel about the bike shed that was Filbert Street.

These new stadia suck the life out of the atmosphere, soulless ikea flat packed stadia.

Don't get me wrong - it was one of my favourite shitholes to watch football at. Had some wonderful times in Swansea :D
