dandannieldanok Posted 16 January 2010 Posted 16 January 2010 Yeah, and that's gonna increase his confidence, how? Anything else would be deluding the lad.
Anish Posted 16 January 2010 Posted 16 January 2010 Yeah, and that's gonna increase his confidence, how? I wasn't chanting those things and I thought it was harsh (not that the chants were very loud anyway). But it's painful to see somebody who's letting our team down and still the management select him when Berner is out. I don't know why we don't just play Powell until Berner gets fit.
Lillehamring Posted 16 January 2010 Posted 16 January 2010 Weren't you the one calling for Howard to be dropped for Kermogant? no, absolutely wrong, don't you buggers ever read anything... i 'suggested' that i would like to see us focus on developing a long-term attacking partner for fryatt. as far as howard, i have simply highlighted what i feel to be his limitations, significantly his age and diminishing mobility. for the record, i suggested that he KEEP HIS PLACE, as long as he plays well enough, with kermo being gradually introduced off the bench, allowing him time to develop an understanding with fryatt without putting too much pressure on him, fryatt or the team... the comment i made today was regarding the extent of the changes, ie that after starting to get some consistency NP would make changes to the entire right side of the team... ie up front - kermo for howard; in midfield - gally for oakley, oakley for wellens, and at the back morrison for neilsen, hobbs for morrison.... is it any wonder that we only had 39% possession in the first half. for me, it would have been nice to see how kermo played with a settled side behind him, introducing him and then putting out a much changed team, seems a curious thing to do, and hasn't really proved anything.
midfield Posted 16 January 2010 Posted 16 January 2010 i dont care about his confidence harsh i know at work if you keep messing up you take a bollocking your work mates take the mick he is a pro footballer who is woefully inept at his job he would struggle to get in my sat and sunday teams exageration i know but he is clearly not good enough at this level he is paid alot of money and he cant even do the basics of defending
Edmund Posted 16 January 2010 Posted 16 January 2010 4. McGivern is a liability. He was skinned so many times today and this led to Swansea's goal. No wonder there were chants of "Bruno Bruno" and "Send him back" every time he f**ked up. Poor lad. Doesn't deserve that sort of stick. Er, I did go to the game and my comments are on page 2 or 3. don't worry I read it and thanks. Would just be nice to hear what others have to say also. As we all know peoples opinions on here are vastly different.

maddog Posted 16 January 2010 Posted 16 January 2010 Starting to feel like we are a million miles away from where Forest are at the moment. And it's not very nice.

Legend_in_blue Posted 16 January 2010 Posted 16 January 2010 Like Robbie Neilson, you mean?.. To be fair, it's not RBs we should be looking to for pace and imagination. The midfield isn't right, hasn't been right for the majority of this season, wasn't right for spells last season, and wasn't right for 5 seasons before that. In fact, when was the midfield ever right? It was in the dim and distant past and it still isn't sorted. Until it is, we will remain where we are. I'm frustrated by it because although as glaringly obvious as it is to sort, it doesn't get sorted.
The Doctor Posted 16 January 2010 Posted 16 January 2010 Starting to feel like we are a 10 million miles pounds away from where Forest are at the moment. And it's not very nice. Corrected. this is a fairly good point. We're ,what, 12/13 points behind forest having spend just over £2 million in the summer. They spend half of that on one player so considering if we win our games in hand we'll be a couple of wins behind them with ,a league one squad that had 2 mill of talent added to it, against ,a squad put together for considerably more than that with a season in the championship before this one. Hardly a disaster is it? Besides i seriously doubt they'll keep this form up for the rest of the season, they'll have to falter at some point and then if we take advantage we're right back in the reckoning. Yes we've lost but pearson and his staff have got 6/7 days between now and the next match to identify what we need to improve on and work on it.
maddog Posted 16 January 2010 Posted 16 January 2010 Look where they were last season - http://www.football-league.co.uk/page/Divi...4~20087,00.html 19th i feel better now. I always thought Billy Davies was a good manager but he must be some sort of genius. I know what makes me feel even more good, Middlesbrough, lets all laugh at them Sacking Southgate when they were very near the top of the table and now look. 6 points behind us despite our shortcomings and we have a game in hand.
davieG Posted 16 January 2010 Posted 16 January 2010 OS City boss Nigel Pearson was disappointed at the 1-0 defeat at Swansea this afternoon but is still positive about the team's prospects. A battling second half kept the issue in doubt right down to the last seconds and he said: "It is disappointing not to get anything out the game but in all honesty we didn't pass the ball well enough or show enough quality and consequently we found ourselves on the end of a defeat. "I thought the players worked tremendously hard through out the game, even in the first half when they passed it particularly well but when you win the ball back you have to pass it better than we did. Our problem in the first half was that we couldn't retain possession well enough but that is credit to them as well. "In the second half we made life more difficult for them and I think we actually caused them a few more problems but it was a game of very few chances. They had one shot on target all day and scored and that is a reflection of the game, We didn't show enough quality at key times." The introduction of strikers Martyn Waghorn and Steve Howard made a difference and Pearson added: "We have always got a strong bench so whoever is on the bench I am confident they can make an impact. They did okay but we didn't force an equaliser so it is still disappointing. "We are still well placed, we have come a long way and I know that over the course of the season we will play well and on other days we won't play well so I have to have a balanced view. It is a tight league and we were always in the game today."
Guest Posted 16 January 2010 Posted 16 January 2010 Terrible game, just like last week. Started off very, very timid. No drive forward, no passion (from what I gathered from listening to the radio, mind you).It took 89 minutes for the first real shot on target. 89 friggin' minutes!!! I should give up listening to the radio then. There were flaws with today's performance, but it was not the worst game I have ever watched. Despite the midfield's inability to string together one pass, we had chances. Brown and McGivern left room at times for an ocean liner to ease through and were given stick by some of those at the game, but in all fairness, McGivern seemed to be pushed wider throughout the game to cover the gaps left by Dyer. Nobody has mentioned that once N'Guessen came on, McGivern actually won a couple of tackles. I thought he looked better after that change. Yes I am disappointed, but I see this as three points dropped. Nathan Dyer apart, Swansea were not better than us, and on the day, we couldn't find the back of the net.

Legend_in_blue Posted 16 January 2010 Posted 16 January 2010 We need to win 11 of the 22 games left and draw 4 to be in a playoff position. We can afford to lose another 7 games imo, no more. This is possible. But we could make things easier with some decent signings this window.
CKB Posted 16 January 2010 Posted 16 January 2010 For the first time this season i really fear we are fading away, i just think we are getting sussed out now. Yes it might be just one loss but i truely believe something needs to change and fresh faces need to be brought in to keep this good season going and providing a different spark to Leicester City's play.. Midfield, right back and left back need to be addressed in some form! RB and midfield the most!

We certainly attempted to keep it on the floor more in the second half (no doubt after a good talking to from Nige) and the introduction of Waggy and Howard seemed to add a bit more urgency to our attack. If only Dany could have turned that effort in. Oh well, onwards and upwards.
Guest ttfn Posted 16 January 2010 Posted 16 January 2010 What I don't get is how Fryatt is 'droppable' (see half-hour sub v Forest and benching v Bristol City) when he's been our player of the season so far and Wellens and Oakley get in every week no matter how shit they are

Asha Posted 16 January 2010 Posted 16 January 2010 Of course a little disappointed with the result, but we didn't really deserve anything today.
Maybes Posted 16 January 2010 Posted 16 January 2010 First half Swansea's passing game was evident. However they didnt really hurt us to much just passed it around in front of the midfield and back four. When they did get through they scored. Nathan Dyer was the best player on the park, his pace and quick turns left our defence in a state the majority of the time. Second half we pressed them alot more, and their was a 15minute spell where we on top. Dany N'Guessan having the chance to slot into an empty net from a tight angle, however he missed. In fairness the ball was slighty behind him Waghorn and Howard were both good when they came on. Ryan Mcgivern is bloody awful. How he has a contract with a premiership club I'll never know!
sbfox Posted 16 January 2010 Posted 16 January 2010 Looking at NSLL's post, I'm actually a little happier. It wasn't a game which WE lost, we didn't throw anything away, we merely didn't deserve to win on the day. Now, some of you may say that sounds stupid, but in the CC, every team is so evenly matched that you are going to lose occasionally. As long as we aren't so terrible that we're contributing to our own loses, I'm still fairly positive. Does that make sense?
Fox You Forest Posted 16 January 2010 Posted 16 January 2010 I thought Hobbs was our best player today, it'd be easy to attack McGivern again but one or two senior players should take a long hard look at themselves, Oakley and Brown deary me. Also the guy dressed as Santa, missed the boat I think.
