lcfc_sam_p Posted 24 January 2010 Posted 24 January 2010 Seems like the wheels are coming off the Pearson promotion push. What a bad week. Firstly, we sign another OAP past his best, then we give one of our best young prospects away for next to nothing, and finally we throw away a 2-1 lead with less than 20 minutes to go against an avrage championship side. Sorry Mr Pearson but things have to improve soon because our recent performances have not been good enough. firstly..OAP before his best? cant you wait to see how he plays before you judge him? he could turn out to be a decent signing. secondly..we are 8th in the championship with one/two games in hand, just outside the playoffs, i definitely would have taken this at the start of the season. just because we won league one doesnt mean were going to win the championship. thirdly..cardiff are not just an average championship side, there a good team and being knocked out of the fa cup could be a good thing? especially as we have got a lot of rearranged games to be played anyway. and finally..NP is not under pressure, hes done a decent job with the resources he has. he got us up and now were competing in the chamiponship. get behind the team
sbfox Posted 24 January 2010 Posted 24 January 2010 I know what you're saying, but ask yourself: is what you're witnessing each matchday at the moment really that much different to the last 5/6 years? The table doesn't lie, and I'm afraid after what seems to have been a rather enjoyable honeymoon period we do seem to be sliding the wrong way. We could get relegated again and I still wouldn't say Pearson out, and I know he'll be as disappointed by the way the last few weeks have gone as us. But I am getting tired of trips like yesterday and S****horpe and, for different reasons, Forest, in addition to trudging into town to watch some really terrible home games, so feel a need to express frustration. Especially when I think the squad SHOULD BE good enough to maintain our start of season form... Right... the table doesn't lie? So we could go up to 4th in the play-offs? How on earth is that sliding the wrong way? Especially when you compare it to the last year or two. If you don't like watching drab performances, you might as well not watch football. I couldn't get a crap how we win, lose or draw, as long as the players wearing our shirt give their all, I'd watch anything. Every team has a dip in form once in the year (at least), lets be honest, we've only seen what, 2 or 3 BAD performances. Seems like your expectations are massively inflated. We should be comparing ourselves to the other promoted clubs... Last year we were only a League 1 side, what gives us the right to be at the top of the Championship?
midfield Posted 24 January 2010 Posted 24 January 2010 i like to have a moan when leicester are playing bad as they have been recently but when they play well i like to big them up and praise players tell everyone how good they are trouble is when there is so much shit in the team it makes it hard not to moan arnt all footy fans fickle you pay your money to have a shout at the players when they do well or bad

But how are people supposed to avoid frustration when the same group of players who showed they have real quality in some genuinely good early-season performances suddenly stop reproducing it? Are we supposed to finish 13th and feel satisfied by that because it's higher than in the last few seasons? Maybe so if we started badly and managed to eventually pull away from the bottom of table, but not the other way round I'm afraid. BTW - we may be 3 points away from 4th, but we're also 5 points away from bottom half. I have steadfastly said, and will continue to say, that if poor-quality football is winning games and gaining points then that is absolutely fine, as has been the case during the start of this season. If this is a temporary blip in form, then that also is fine and when we're over it I'll congratulate Pearson and the team for having character and some real heart. However, I find it hard to imagine what the "our expectations are too high" crew are going to say if we are in Derby's current position come March. 'Recent Form' gives us the following end of season table: 1. Forest 99 2. Newcastle 94 3. Sheff Utd 82 4. Doncaster Rovers 81 5. West Brom 76 6. Swansea 73 7. Palace 73 8. Cardiff 70 9. Leicester 67 Forgive me if I think that finishing 9th would be rather disappointing when we started off playing as if we could genuinely get in the play-offs...

Fair analysis but don't be so ridiculously sensible, you'll get told off !
Finnegan Posted 24 January 2010 Posted 24 January 2010 When you consider it's not uncommon for the confidence boost that comes with promotion to rocket teams slightly undeservedly up into the higher echelons of the league, I'd say my pre-season expectations of mid-table are still in place. If we finish ninth in a league of twenty-four come May then quite frankly I'll think that's a job very, very well done. Obviously there'll be some disappointment in falling away from the play-off places but I think anyone with a lick of sense will realize that that's ultimately a good showing. As I've said, the football might not be that glamorous but it's apparently effective. If you really think this season has been "not that different" to the relegation year then clearly you weren't there. We truly were woeful.

Then find some better company, travel a differnt way, make a full day of it, stand at the back etc. I'd be a depressed Fu ck even if we were winning 3-0 away every week if I was told when to leave, where to stop and where to sit by fox travel and the opposing club. Can only think of Forest where I genuinely thought "God I wish I hadn't Been there" and even that wasn't too bad purely for the pre and post match company.

Although that said this season hasn't been half as good as last but that's down to a poor fixture list and various legosets we've had to visit.

We have no class players, some good ones yes, but they are the best we'll get in our current position. We're doing fine in reality, we've had a couple of defeats, we're going to lose games. We've won more than we've lost this season, that's a good thing given our recent past at this level.
CosbehFox Posted 24 January 2010 Posted 24 January 2010 I disagree with ur comment im afraid, A loss is a loss and will affect players confidence! That wasn't the point, he was just mentioning cup games are more open than league games.
