OLD norfox Posted 8 February 2010 Posted 8 February 2010 Apparently Solano was not playing vs Blackpool because of something to do with his family but should be in the squad tomorrow according to Birch. Solano was back in Peru but trained today. He's in
Vlad The Impaler Posted 8 February 2010 Posted 8 February 2010 GK. Weale RB. Morrison CB. Hobbs CB. Brown LB. Berner CM. Oakley CM. King CM. Wellens RAM. N'Guessan LAM. Gallagher ST. Fryatt
Hitesh Posted 8 February 2010 Posted 8 February 2010 Solly will make the bench then. If he can, I hope he keeps the same squad.
Thracian Posted 9 February 2010 Posted 9 February 2010 I'm not against changing a winning team if we end up with the better one but why, barring injury or residue tiredness, would we want to change an approach that gave us our first win at Blackpool for decades, which resulted in so many chances and sound performances and which deserves more time to evolve and improve anyway? It seems to me as balanced a side as we can put out and one which, so unusually this season, has no glaring weaknesses -at least that can be improved upon with current personnel. Mind you I hate this feeling of, once more, looking forward to a game. It almost always heralds big time disappointment despite there being no reason we shouldn't play with attitude and adventure.

I said the same thing to my mate on the phone this morning, said I fancied a good win but I can't ever remember being right when I've thought that. 0-0.
jimmer Posted 9 February 2010 Posted 9 February 2010 Shouldn't really change a winning side so..... WealeMorrison--Hobbs--Brown--BernerOakley---King---GallagherWaghorn------------------N'guessanFryatt But for some reason I can see wellens coming in for N'guessan Weale Morrison--Hobbs--Brown--BernerOakley---King---WellensWaghorn------------------GallagherFryatt Either will do just fine and would like to see abit more of Nobby today!
Asha Posted 9 February 2010 Posted 9 February 2010 I'd like to see Dyer start in place of Gallagher. I'm a big fan of Gallagher, as those standing around me at Blackpool will know, but I'd like to see us go with two REAL wingers from the off. Then if this strategy loses it's effect Gallagher can come on and bring something different to the team. Gallagher is a very good player, creative, skillful etc. But I think pace and width should be the gameplan tonight, especially if their left back is their apparent weakness.

If you bring Dyer in then where does Waghorn go? If you're a big fan of Gallagher I don't see why you'd take him out for Dyer. Gallagher is more reliable for a performance than Dyer in my personal opinion.

Dyer and Solano as supersubs!

I don't want to change the team at all but I could see Dyer being a threat running at the defence from the central position, if he played in Gallaghers position. But like I say, I don't want the team changing, Gallagher deserves to keep his place.
Thracian Posted 9 February 2010 Posted 9 February 2010 Can't see anything wrong with Dyer coming on as a sub when defenders might be tiring and gaps might be more easily found. One of Dyer's limitations is that he's never really shown up as having a 90-minute engine. About an hour is as long as he normally remains effective. Gallagher is surely a more creative passer too - in fact it seems to be his biggest talent cos he's certainly never looked like a striker. And that is probably our greater need for the opening hour or so and this could be a big plus especially if he avoids losing possession needlessly in the way Wellens tends to do.
