fox123 Posted 12 February 2010 Posted 12 February 2010 Does anyone play? Love the sport, and the Tenerife thread reminded me of how me and my mates would have loads of tournaments in the baking hot sunshine. Anyone know of any clubs? Wouldn't mind starting up again.
dandannieldanok Posted 12 February 2010 Posted 12 February 2010 Play it all the time on holidays and used to play a fair bit at home when we had a table. Love the game to play but a bit tedious to watch imo. Not sure of any clubs
Fox You Forest Posted 12 February 2010 Posted 12 February 2010 Play it all the time on holidays and used to play a fair bit at home when we had a table. Love the game to play but a bit tedious to watch imo. Not sure of any clubs Like watching it in the Olympics, not sure I'd want to watch it too regularly though. Used to love a knock about on holiday until all the balls get broke and the deposits lost.
ozleicester Posted 16 February 2010 Posted 16 February 2010 Played competetively for about 4 years, loved it and still amazed at how fit i needed to be. Also a great sport "for all the family" we had people aged 12 - 65+, men and women, playing in the same competition, I was lucky to be part of a really friendly but still competitive league.
Tony Pine Posted 16 February 2010 Posted 16 February 2010 great game, could probably find out about clubs for u, my mate plays a lot
Father Ted Posted 5 October 2010 Posted 5 October 2010 Bump. Quality sport! If you're interested, there's Knighton club, near Queens Road, that's probably the best around.
ScouseFox Posted 5 October 2010 Posted 5 October 2010 Used to love playing this, haven't played in about a year. South Liverpool schools U16 champion though
StanSP Posted 5 October 2010 Posted 5 October 2010 Used to love playing this, haven't played in about a year. South Liverpool schools U16 champion though Same but make it about 3 years! Used to play every lunchtime and after school some days.
SystonFox Posted 5 October 2010 Posted 5 October 2010 Recommend me a good table to buy at a decent price. I was hoping around £150 or is that not enough? Thanks
dandannieldanok Posted 5 October 2010 Posted 5 October 2010 Recommend me a good table to buy at a decent price. I was hoping around £150 or is that not enough? Thanks When we played at home, we bought two bits of wood from B&Q for each half of the table, put them on the dining table, and pushed them together with a strip of cardboard the height of the net in between. Edit: Was better than it sounds
SystonFox Posted 5 October 2010 Posted 5 October 2010 My grandad built a table some years ago and it's a small ambition of mine to build one but I've never got round to It. I'd also want it to look like a real table so I think I may aswell just buy one I can't edit ao I'll add the fact I have a net, balls and bats / paddles? Is that what they are xalled it edited that's brilliant!
BoneDog Posted 6 October 2010 Posted 6 October 2010 I used to think I was good at this sport until I started playing a mate who played at county level. I never beat him once. It's pretty mesmerising watching two really good players have a match. I used to bost out laughing when I was watching a massive long raleigh cos it was so fricking awesome and I was a bit mental.
ozleicester Posted 8 October 2010 Posted 8 October 2010 Cracking game in the Commonwealth games, to see England get through to the final. Love a bit of Table tennis
dandannieldanok Posted 8 October 2010 Posted 8 October 2010 Can't believe Paul Drinkhall managed to win that game when he was 5-0 and 10-6 down.
