white_y Posted 7 April 2010 Posted 7 April 2010 Leicester City Midfield dilemma continues to go on as Spearing played on Saturday and Oakley captaining the side. even though he shouldn't even be in the side because I cannot remember a time this season that he has changed a game that other midfielder so often do. But as the same time Spearing Hasn't really had allot of game time. but people say that he has got the potential to be the next Steven Gerrard.
Fatbloke Posted 7 April 2010 Posted 7 April 2010 Oakley by a million miles, he`s far far better and his experience would be vital in the run in, Spearing has contributed little or nothing so far.
Nick Posted 7 April 2010 Posted 7 April 2010 Oakley by a million miles, he`s far far better and his experience would be vital in the run in, Spearing has contributed little or nothing so far. Spearing.
BNET Posted 7 April 2010 Posted 7 April 2010 Rather play Sir Bernard of Quorn than Oakley, absolute garbage as a player and a captain. So Spearing by a million miles.
Karljohn Posted 7 April 2010 Posted 7 April 2010 Can't judge Spearing on a couple of games, Only thing Oakley has done in 2010 that has stood out has been to applaud Derby supporters. Go with Spearing at Peterborough and against Watford.
caz05 Posted 7 April 2010 Posted 7 April 2010 Oakley by a million miles, he`s far far better and his experience would be vital in the run in, Spearing has contributed little or nothing so far.
unreachable Posted 7 April 2010 Posted 7 April 2010 Spearing justifies a further outing. NP rarely changes a winning team. Spearing's run down the right wing helped set up the all important first goal against QPR. Oakley has put in too many average performances recently.
FoxyPV Posted 7 April 2010 Posted 7 April 2010 Oakley to start and Spearing to come on for the last thirty when he need his energy and hunger that wee bit more
J.Lisemore Posted 7 April 2010 Posted 7 April 2010 Oakley by a million miles, he`s far far better and his experience would be vital in the run in, Spearing has contributed little or nothing so far. You obviously didn't go Cardiff away then. Spearing was one of our better players.
Koke Posted 7 April 2010 Posted 7 April 2010 Jay Spearing, no question. He's more energetic and he will work his testicles off. His passings are a bit hit & miss, but Oakley's pass completion rate is so bad it's excruciatingly painful. Oakley is so shit that it offends me.
Scow Posted 7 April 2010 Posted 7 April 2010 Oakley has put in too many average performances recently. Recently? Does recently extend to the whole season? I think 'average' is being a bit too kind - he's been poor for the large part of the season. The amount of times Oakley gives the ball away in seemingly comfortable positions is indefensible. Despite this, I strangely feel reassured that his experience and ability makes a difference, but I don't really see evidence of this. I don't know why he can't match the level of performances he put in at his time at Derby and Southampton. Age may have something to do with it, along with unsubstantiated rumours that he's looking to retire soon. Whatever the case, he's simply not been good enough, and I suspect that if it wasn't for him being captain, he might not have had the run in the side that he's enjoyed this season.
Dylan Posted 7 April 2010 Posted 7 April 2010 Spearing. He has ability and Oakley has showed nothing this season imo. Spearing's energy will provide the team with much more than Oakley can.
Unabomber Posted 8 April 2010 Posted 8 April 2010 Oakley by a million miles, he`s far far better and his experience would be vital in the run in, Spearing has contributed little or nothing so far. Definately Spearing. I hope you were being sarcastic.
carterfox90 Posted 8 April 2010 Posted 8 April 2010 oakley especially lately has been total garbage & does'nt deserve to be captain or no where near the 1st team
marbelladave Posted 8 April 2010 Posted 8 April 2010 And The answer is............ Paul Gallagher. In a three with King and Wellens. He just might, just, give us the creative spark our rather pedestrian and samey midfield has been missing. Out of necessity he has played that role twice in recent times with a fair degree of success, the games against Newcastle and Blackpool. Errr.....You know the rest...

Gallagher can be too moody and resent having to tackle back. It's a pity as he has potential.
marbelladave Posted 8 April 2010 Posted 8 April 2010 Can't agree. Gallagher can be too moody and resent having to tackle back. It's a pity as he has potential. Can be true but I believe that is because he feels wasted and uninvolved when stuck out on the wing. Even when supposedly deployed in wide positions he does most of his best work in more central areas. In the games I mentioned he deputised for Wellens and was heavily involved throughout, not the greatest tackler I grant you but he did track back and easily did his share in defense. Alongside King and Wellens that would be enough. King, Oakley, Wellens and even Spearing are, to me, all a bit too similar. We are crying out for some creativity in midfield and Gallagher is the only player we have who might produce it. Be positive and proactive for a change!
Guest Mee-9 Posted 8 April 2010 Posted 8 April 2010 Spearing every time. He works his backside off. Oakley gives the ball away far too much, and hasn't done anything all season. Spearing has shown alot of potential to be a good player so far.
calum_lcfc Posted 8 April 2010 Posted 8 April 2010 Spearing, we need players that are playing well at this time of the seaon not players that credit a start in experience
okie fox Posted 8 April 2010 Posted 8 April 2010 Oakley by a million miles, he`s far far better and his experience would be vital in the run in, Spearing has contributed little or nothing so far. I agree. I am not an Oakley fan, but Spearing is also slow and gives the ball away. He is no potential Steven Gerrard. He may run around a lot, but to little avail as he doesn't close down opponents quickly. We have a creative midfielder in Wellens, we need one that will win the ball back for us, stop their midfielders dominating the game as happened in the first half against QPR. Although Oakley does not do this either, I think that he is more effective than Spearing.
Criggers Posted 8 April 2010 Posted 8 April 2010 Berner, Wellens and King in midfield...... If we had another decent left back of course.
