WhoDey Posted 5 May 2010 Author Posted 5 May 2010 "The case at London's High Court has been adjourned for 42 days" Worst case scenario stage 1 complete. If they eventually go into admin, watch the excrement hit the fan as first Swansea appeal, then any team they beat in the playoffs (hopefully that bit won't matter, eh?)
Daggers Posted 5 May 2010 Posted 5 May 2010 This is a non-thread. Cardiff will not be wound up or placed into admin before the playoffs are over for them.
Taffy Posted 7 May 2010 Posted 7 May 2010 Of course not... Cardiff are seen as a "bigger" club. It would ruin the football league to see a top 6 championship team get wound up... Absolutley piss poor decision by the finest justice system in the world... <_< The rational behind the desicion is simple. They either put the club into administration and receive so much in the pound or wait and get the lot. Bit of a no-brainer.
Craig Posted 7 May 2010 Posted 7 May 2010 The rational behind the desicion is simple. They either put the club into administration and receive so much in the pound or wait and get the lot the same as they would have got if they hadn't wasted their time. Bit of a no-brainer.
WhoDey Posted 13 May 2010 Author Posted 13 May 2010 How about this worst case scenario then: The hearing is adjourned until the future becomes clear. Cardiff beat Leicester (gasp!) in the semi, then lose to Blackpool, who beat Forest in the semi (double gasp!), in the final. Then they hold the adjourned hearing, no investment comes in, the High Court declares Cardiff insolvent and they go into administration. The 10 point penalty is applied, meaning they should never have been in the playoffs. Swansea, who were unfairly denied a playoff spot, demand the playoffs should be replayed with Swansea included. Leicester argue that they should have played Blackpool instead of Cardiff, and demand that the playoffs are replayed. Forest argue they should have played Swansea instead of Blackpool, and demand the playoffs are replayed. Blackpool argue they won their Prem spot fair and square. Major headache for the FL which gets a ton of bad PR. Sorry to drag up this old chestnut, but step 2 of this nightmare scenario is now complete. For those keeping track, now the worst case scenario only needs Cardiff to lose in the final and then not get investment and go into admin. Unlikely? Yes, judging by the Malaysian bloke jumping about with the players after the game - but the investment isn't in just yet. I'm still personally watching this space. If this does all happen (I accept the chances of this appear fairly slim), what would your thoughts be of us potentially campaigning (with Swansea and probably even Forest) to get the playoffs replayed? Edited to say I wish I'd put a cheeky accumulator on all that happening up to this point.

I think something worse than not being able to accept even the harshest defeat would be to actively "campaign" to have the right to play a better standard of football next season. All the defeated clubs would look petty & without class. Forget the idea pal!
City Of Cardiff Posted 13 May 2010 Posted 13 May 2010 The new Malaysian investment is secure. Apparently, the main guy behind the takeover is a Billionaire , so Admin is no longer a viable option, thankfully.

The Football League would have to consider the possibility of replaying the playoffs if one of the competing teams should not have taken part due to a points deduction. I think Swansea would likely do our campaigning legwork for us though to be honest. The new Malaysian investment is secure. Apparently, the main guy behind the takeover is a Billionaire , so Admin is no longer a viable option, thankfully. It may well be. I would wait until everything's signed and sealed first though, everything looks rosy now but he may have second thoughts if you lose in the final.

They ( the invester's) have paid the wagebill ( £1.2million) for the last two months. Its a done deal. There is no doubt we would have been wound up otherwise.

Guest ttfn Posted 13 May 2010 Posted 13 May 2010 This whole thing does leave a sour taste in the mouth (I refer people to my earlier post in this thread). Not because we lost to them necessarily - it's just Ridsdale has taken a ludicrous gamble and could get lucky. That's exactly the sort of behaviour we should be looking to discourage.
Matt Posted 4 July 2010 Posted 4 July 2010 http://www.newsoftheworld.co.uk/sport/football/865662/NEW-CARDIFF-BUST-THREAT.html CARDIFF CITY are again on the brink of going bust over a £1.3million tax bill. They face another winding-up order in the High Court on August 11 - just three days after kicking off the new season. Cardiff will go into administration if they fail to prove they can settle the debt. That would see the team of Dave Jones hit with at least a 10-point deduction, plunging last season's play-off finalists to the bottom of the Championship. Fans thought the club's future was secured with the arrival of Far East investors in May. Their £6m staved off the threat of winding up brought over a £2m-plus tax bill. The consortium, led by tycoon Dato Chan Tien Ghee, owns 39 per cent of the club and vowed to save them. Yet a Sport of the World investigation has revealed Cardiff still owe HM Revenue & Customs £1,331,072. Player and staff wages for June were not paid on time - though banking red tape was blamed. Cardiff also owe Sunderland £1.5m for striker Michael Chopra and are likely to face a transfer ban over non-payment. Chief exec Gethin Jenkins said: "HMRC has launched a petition in the event we don't pay the PAYE bill. We are confident of settling it in the next couple of days."
samjohnson Posted 4 July 2010 Posted 4 July 2010 Another twist in the ever-lasting story... Brilliant
Guest Bilo Posted 4 July 2010 Posted 4 July 2010 Call me a pedant but shouldn't this thread be moved now it won't directly affect us? Not going to gloat over the possibility of another club going into administration, however massive wands some of their fans are.
Daggers Posted 4 July 2010 Posted 4 July 2010 Hmm - foreign "investors" not keeping promises or delivering a golden future. Someone tell me again why I should be glad that Mandaric is courting similar types?

Someone tell me again why I should be glad that Mandaric is courting similar types? Couldn't agree more how many of these so callled billionaire investors ever seem to have any money to put in they all seem to be playing at it. TAke over give a few quid as loans they want paying back then clear off as soon as possible.
