Leicesterboi Posted 18 May 2005 Posted 18 May 2005 I have just been talking to a coach who used to coach Dawson in Ireland and he has said that Dawson is fuming with the way Levein has treated him. Is this fair or was levein right?
C-man Posted 18 May 2005 Posted 18 May 2005 I think Dawson is right to be fuming with Levein. Why offer a 19 year old, a very talented one at that, a reduced terms contract. In the words of Kris Camara its 'Unbelievable!' They must have offered him ten quid dawson is ten times better than wilcox and he's been offered a decent new contract
Babylon Posted 18 May 2005 Posted 18 May 2005 Fair or not fair, Levein has done what he thought was right. Will everyone just stop all the whineing about this and support the manager. Otherwise we will end up back at square one having forced another manager out!!
Babylon Posted 18 May 2005 Posted 18 May 2005 and he's been offered a decent new contract 110999 Pure speculation, no one knows exactly what has happened. Who has or hasn't been offered x amount of money!

connolly19 Posted 18 May 2005 Posted 18 May 2005 I'm sure Dawson has got a better offer somewhere else like Man City. Im pretty sure he would'nt reject a contract from Leicester if he had'nt had a better offer somewhere else. I'm disappointed that Levein did'nt do more to hold on to him because he is one of the brighter prospects at the club but who knows what happens behind closed doors?

Leicesterboi Posted 18 May 2005 Author Posted 18 May 2005 Good point C19. i think he will be off to bigger and better things.

Wilcox will be on reduced terms if he has been offered anything (pure speculation at the minute) and any player offered a new contract has been offered reduced terms, that's the climate in the Club ATM.
SilverFox Posted 18 May 2005 Posted 18 May 2005 I have just been talking to a coach who used to coach Dawson in Ireland and he has said that Dawson is fuming with the way Levein has treated him. Is this fair or was levein right? 110997 Sure Perhaps you've been talking to the voices in your head but that is probably the extent of it. Dawson was good, but inconsistent! Leicester will survive and this situation is just plain stupid now. Hes gone, hes not coming back, and stupid comments designed to stir things up will not get us anywhere! If he wanted to play for us he would have signed the fecking deal...at least he made the bench under Levein. Under Adams he did nothing whatsoever! Leveins the boss, and I'm behind him!
Platinum Fox Posted 18 May 2005 Posted 18 May 2005 Why would he want to blast levein? He is a good manager and i support everything he is for, even though he may make some mistakes along the way(MDV)but hes only human. What ever he has done he has a reason. HOw can you even say he is good. Im not doubting him but we have never actually seen him play 1st team footy. Reserves is totally different to the 1st team matches.
posh_bird Posted 18 May 2005 Posted 18 May 2005 So what Daws may have been pissed off with the he was treated by CL and voiced it to an 'old coach' but he's got every right to. He should have been given a oppotunity in the first team last season just like Sheehan. From your post it doesn't seem like he 'BLASTED' CL but merely discussed his opinion, so i suggest that you should maybe re-word the titling of your post so that it is NOT misleading and doesn't stir up sh*t.
dog_4 Posted 18 May 2005 Posted 18 May 2005 dawson is 19 and still not played a first team game, cudn't have been that special then cud he. forget dawson we got stearman who is class. he is 17 and playing for the england under 19's. he hasn't had a bad game and will go onto great things
Little Nicky Posted 18 May 2005 Posted 18 May 2005 I found out the full story today, someone I know at the club saw the terms he'd been offered and apparantly it was on par with what Stearman currently gets! Dawson however thinks that he is worth more than that and is holding out for a better offer, to be honest I just think he'd have been Stuart Campbell 2!

He is not yet class.
step Posted 18 May 2005 Posted 18 May 2005 I hate to see dawson leaving and I am sure CL would have offered him more monery if he could. But as Dawson has some talent and I assume he wont be earning a great deal, what I find more concerning is the fact that city does not have the money to keep him.

Ric Flair Posted 19 May 2005 Posted 19 May 2005 Let's get a few things straight. I'm getting sick and tired of people making judgements on Dawson without ever seeing him play. The one's that have seen him play are the one's that are extremely upset that's he's left, what does that tell you? Please can you not spout shit about something you have no knowledge of for the one's that haven't seen him. He might be 19 and not played in the first team, but that doesn't make him crap. Remember we had Micky Adams as manager who is reluctant to play players under 30. Anyway i've had a few days to let what's happened sink in and although i'm still gutted Dawson has left, i'm not going to get on Levein's back. I think he's made a mistake and could of handled things better with Dawson but this is one bad decision he's made. He's made alot of great decisions and it was inevitable he'd do something the fans didn't like, all managers do at some point. I'm still fully behind Levein (support wise) and it will take alot more than what he's done with the Dawson issue to make me think otherwise, but i'm still upset and frustrated. I had kind of pinned my hopes on Dawson being the answer to our midfield problems, which obviously won't happen now. At 19 you want assurances about your football, first team football is the main priority and if Dawson felt like he wasn't being treated fairly than I can understand why he's left. We don't know exactly what contract he's been offered, if it's the same as Stearman's that won't be that much. I personally don't think he should be offered that much and the money possibly isn't the issue here, it's the gesture that he's been offered less money than his previous contract (which won't have been much anyway) also the fact he was allegedly promised a run-out against Plymouth which Levein didn't do. Only time will tell if this has been a major mistake or not, I get the feeling it will be but i've been wrong before. The disappointing thing is he was an essential part of our future and it made sense to do everything we could to keep him here with the nature of the plans Craig has for this club. I challenge him to find someone with the talent Dawson has for less money. We have got the mighty Wesolowski but Levein hasn't ever mentioned him so whether he's ready to take the step up is questionable. Craig Levein, Superstar Came down to Leicester on a Yamaha Pulled a skid, killed a kid (Dawson) Went back to Hearts on a dustbin lid. Over to you Craig, do what you do best. Sign us 'the next Stephen Dawson'
MADLEVEIN Posted 19 May 2005 Posted 19 May 2005 is it me or didnt dawson reject the contract ?? no commitment in my book.
Simon Posted 19 May 2005 Posted 19 May 2005 I have to say I agree 100% with Hoof on this. I think Levein's made a mistake. I'm not going to turn on him though, and only time will tell if hes been right or not. I just hope the same doesnt happen to any more of our promising youngsters...
Shum Posted 19 May 2005 Posted 19 May 2005 There are too many stories floating around... I don't think we will ever know the FULL story as to what he was offered, what he was currently earning etc.
Leicesterboi Posted 19 May 2005 Author Posted 19 May 2005 Football is all about opinions so CL didnt feel he was worth keeping whereas another manager may see him as a hot prespect. i agree that only time will tell whether we have made a mistake or not. Good luck to Dawsy boy anyway. Just out of interest. if he had have signed on again, and we had wanted to sell him, what do you think we could have got for him?
