Guest Mee-9 Posted 29 June 2010 Posted 29 June 2010 Am I the only one who's not really keen on Sousa? He's a draw specialist (wiki stats) and uses negative foreign tactics. He didn't have the best of records at QPR and inherited a Swansea team that was already pushing for the playoffs under Martinez. I'd rather Mowbray anyday but I can't see him coming here. I agree with you mate, I wouldn't want Sousa here. I know some people say he didn't have the strike force, but he scored sod all goals, and played boring football. Its so negative. Mowbray anyday, but I suppose to attract him, He's going to want loads of money to spend.
Dylan Posted 29 June 2010 Posted 29 June 2010 Would be great but can't see it happening- theyre now in the same division as us and Leeds are a bigger club. But then again, Hull weren't really a step up for NP.
Fox You Forest Posted 29 June 2010 Posted 29 June 2010 I don't remember Swansea being overly negative in any of the three games against us.

Hmm, think that's probably a bit unfair. Losing a manager as good as Martinez is one thing but to lose your best striker in Jason Scotland as well as Jordi Gomez, it would have been no surprise to see Swansea lose their way a tad. The fact that they actually improved their league position, in spite of their lack of firepower, is testament to Sousa's ability in my opinion. As for QPR, they are just an unholy mess and I think Mourinho would have a hard time succeeding at Loftus Road.

He can't live off West Broms promotion to the Premier League forever, he has since got them relegated back to the Championship followed by failure at Celtic. He'd be a fool not to snap our hands off if we offered him a job.
Yojoe36 Posted 29 June 2010 Posted 29 June 2010 Don't rule it out. Pearson left for HULL!!! I mean come on, he's set our club straight and he leaves. It's unlikely for him to be our manager, BUT would you sooner have MICKY ADAMS, yes there is talks about him too, an quite frankly I sooner have andy derso as our manager than adams

I don't deny he's done a good job at Swansea, but at best I think he's just carried on the stability with a well constructed side built by Martinez. Swansea were always a good team and Scotland and Gomez were the goal scorers which coincides with the goals scored under Sousa and Martinez. Take away those two and you've still got a strong team without the goals which is what Sousa achieved with Swansea this season. Don't get me wrong he did a good job carrying it on but I'm not convinced as to wether he's the full package. Personally I'm not a big fan. As for Grayson, no thanks. Nearly fluffed up league 1 with easily one of the biggest budgets. Should've finished top as at christmas they were leading the pack by a mile. He lost the fans towards the end of the season with dubious tactical decisions.

I think your comments are pretty fair and if Sousa came here, with our equally strong all round team and extra firepower, I see no reason why we wouldn't be able to pick up where we left off. As for Grayson, no thanks. That Leeds side should have coasted to the League One title with where they were at Christmas and they ended up needing a last day victory to finish second. Not a fan.

Don't get me wrong I'd have him over 95% of those who've been mentioned so far (Dowie, Coleman etc) just not my first choice.
SeCrEt FoX Posted 29 June 2010 Posted 29 June 2010 How about big ol' Alan Curbishley? Just think he would be a better choice than Sousa,Adams and Dowie! Fooking Dowie what a tosser why does his name always crop up How does that man get jobs???? What was his job title at hull LMFAO
J.Lisemore Posted 29 June 2010 Posted 29 June 2010 Hes a Leeds fan and has just got them promoted... Not going to happen.
yessae Posted 30 June 2010 Posted 30 June 2010 As a Leeds fan, let me just say that Grayson never lost the confidence of the fans at Elland Road last season , even through the blip we had. Yes there were some moans and groans but the majority stuck by him because when he could take the team to a brilliant first half of a season and some fantastic performances against Liverpool, Manchester United and Tottenham , then why would he lose the plot all of a sudden ? The blip was down to some key injuries ( Paddy Kisnorbo, Bechio , Higgs etc ) and fatigue hitting the squad ( we played the most number of games for a club outside the Premier League ) . I am sure Grayson would have learned a lot from the experience and like Pearson, he has some excellent qualities to be a top Premier League manager some day. I for one won't be surprised if Ken Bates let him go but I would be surprised if Grayson wanted to go. Ken Bates is as evil as Mandaric and that lunatic would do anything for a bit of $$$ . Grayson is an astute manager, a chairman's delight because he always manages to pick the best of the freebies every summer and spends the transfer fee judiciously . Leeds are lucky to have him lead our resurgence but if Leicester have the money to tempt Bates , then don't be surprised if there is truth in this rumour.

Bates would have to have completely lost his remaining marble to kick Grayson out of the club for a few hundred grand. I'm sure Simon has given this job a fleeting thought which then sends a shudder down his spine when Mandaric's face clouds his mind.

stevie909 Posted 30 June 2010 Posted 30 June 2010 Why would he come here, i hate Leeds but they are a far bigger club than us and are now in the same division, wont happen!! Why would pearson come here, i hate leicester but they are a far bigger club than us and we are now in the same division, wont happen!! pretty similar.
Poakey Posted 30 June 2010 Posted 30 June 2010 So you lot run around screaming like girls getting your knickers in a twist with Hull for nicking your manager, then calmly discuss taking someone else's. Priceless. Fair play to Hull for poaching him, cant knock that, they knew he was unsettled and they went for him. It's pearsons decision to go which is what we all find surprising.
SeCrEt FoX Posted 30 June 2010 Posted 30 June 2010 Sorry if i a bit late but been in hospital but have we any news on WHY yet ? still cant get over it just hope he wont try and poach players like King , Hobbs etc. He can have Kermit and keep the compo

Priceless. I was under the impression that people were getting annoyed because it was pretty much a sideways step than an upward step, not because he's been taken by another club. Now, whether it's a sideways step or not is a different matter, but that's why people were annoyed.
foxoffderby Posted 1 July 2010 Posted 1 July 2010 Nothing we didn't already knew. However, more fuel to the Sousa rumour... Grayson rules out Leicester switch .Grayson: Committed to Leeds .Leeds United boss Simon Grayson has quashed speculation linking him with the vacant manager's job at Championship rivals Leicester City. Nigel Pearson left the Foxes to join Hull earlier this week, with Grayson, Swansea boss Paulo Sousa and Hamilton manager Billy Reid among the names being touted as his possible successor at the Walkers Stadium. But Grayson, who guided the Yorkshire outfit to automatic promotion last term, has no intention of quitting the Elland Road club. He told the Yorkshire Post: "I've just got a team into the Championship and it's the football club who I support. I've got a job to do here. "I'm flattered by the speculation but I'm certainly committed to being at Leeds United for a lot longer than this."
