Ric Flair Posted 13 July 2010 Posted 13 July 2010 This young lad from our academy... what position does he play? I heard his name mentioned last season but I always thought it was Chamberlain that was getting the plaudits. Interesting to see that he's been included in the squad for Slovenia but Chamberlain hasn't.
Ric Flair Posted 13 July 2010 Author Posted 13 July 2010 I see. Let's hope he impresses. Is he English?

Edmund Posted 13 July 2010 Posted 13 July 2010 According to one of the picture captions Chamberlain is there, although he's not on the squad list. Those pictures were taken at belvoir drive. I'm happy they've shown faith in a few academy lads but like others I'm also surprised Chamberlain wasn't taken although we do have a lot of strikers on that list. Maybe Chamberlain still has another year in the academy? I think Schlupp and John are too old for the academy next season. Even more reason why we should have a reserve team.
ousefox Posted 13 July 2010 Posted 13 July 2010 Definitely want to see a few more fighting to get into our first team. We haven't had a decent breakthrough since King. Maybe Gradel but Pearson didn't seem to think he was good enough for the champ.

Alexikokopops Posted 13 July 2010 Posted 13 July 2010 Fez's friends taught him in our League One season, so couple that with his Academy watching and he's probably worth asking about this!
ousefox Posted 13 July 2010 Posted 13 July 2010 I remember we thought Odihambo was the next best thing just because he came on vs Villa! Yeah i remember that. I swear i remember there being 2 eric odhiambo's on FM as well?
Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 13 July 2010 Posted 13 July 2010 Yeah i remember that. I swear i remember there being 2 eric odhiambo's on FM as well? One foreign, one English!

Fosse Boy Posted 13 July 2010 Posted 13 July 2010 When do the academy fixtures get released? Really want to make an effort to get down to a few of their games this season now I'm local again.
Collymore Posted 13 July 2010 Posted 13 July 2010 Yeah i remember that. I swear i remember there being 2 eric odhiambo's on FM as well? Yeah i remember that. One was always upset that he wasn't playing (to be fair I don't think i played either, I was always to busy scouting the scandinavian u18 squads)
detari74 Posted 13 July 2010 Posted 13 July 2010 Jeff Schlupp and Elliott Chamberlain are 2 different styles of players - Schlupp is alot more explosive and powerful and can play up ront as well as attacking let midielder whilst Chamberlain closes defenders down and exploits their mistakes, similar to a younger Paul Dickov. Schlupp is a year younger than Chamberlain and John who are first year pros which means he is a second year scholar and available for the youth team this year. Not sure how to add it but there is a picture of Schlupp in the academy section of the OS in the 2-1 win over MK Dons - which is a bit more up to date than his school pic
lanxfox Posted 13 July 2010 Posted 13 July 2010 I see. Let's hope he impresses. Is he English? With a name like Schlupp, are you taking the piss?
Floating Fox Posted 13 July 2010 Posted 13 July 2010 To be fair. Odihiambo is hardly the most english sounding name..
Anish Posted 13 July 2010 Posted 13 July 2010 With a name like Schlupp, are you taking the piss? To be fair, his parents could be German and he could've been born here, thus making him English. How many foreign kids do you think we've recruited recently?
Fez of Mahrez Posted 13 July 2010 Posted 13 July 2010 Schlupp was born in Hamburg but is also eligible for England and possibly one or two other nations, I believe. Detari's covered everything really. He's extremely quick with a fierce shot, but still very young and can drift out of games for long periods. Also a bit of a shock that he has been selected to go on the trip ahead of Chamberlain but probably just because he impressed Sousa in the first few days of training. He's quite a dynamic player so it's not surprising in that respect. I would imagine he'll play up front for the Under 18s this season unless he makes a real impact in pre-season. Played the majority of last season on the left wing but moved up front alongside Chamberlain a fair bit, especially in the final weeks.
lanxfox Posted 21 July 2010 Posted 21 July 2010 He apparently is playing well according to the website and people on Facebook
Narborough_fox Posted 21 July 2010 Posted 21 July 2010 It's been a good summer for Schlupp. German Semi-Final and a break in the first team, G'won lad.
gh09lcfc Posted 22 July 2010 Posted 22 July 2010 Sounded like a decent prospect in that friendly loss, hopefully Sousa gives him a run out this season
