davieG Posted 24 July 2010 Posted 24 July 2010 Hasn't sounded like we've created too many chances despite dominating, according to Stringer. Edit- He's now saying they deserve to be level
Pegosteve Posted 24 July 2010 Posted 24 July 2010 Sounds like we have changed our style, I like this all out attacking, exciting football we have played this afternoon! Hang on a minute I've just woken up must have been dreaming!
Bert Posted 24 July 2010 Posted 24 July 2010 We were good in the first half, poor in the second. Dj's free kick was fantastic, and he put a decent bit of work rate in too. On the balance of each half a draw was fair. This passing football is fantastic, but I wouldn't be suprised if we concede a few from it. Many times today it could've lead to us coming unstuck after trying to pass our way out of trouble. Fryatt is still really greedy. Tries walking the ball into the net when better options are on. No surprise the standout players were Hobbs, Wellens, and Dj. Dyer had a fairly decent game too. Morrison looked shaky all game, but was still quite composed. Adams is not a right back and Dany N'Guessan is shit.

OzFox Posted 24 July 2010 Posted 24 July 2010 Morrison looked shaky all game, but was still quite composed. Crap but calm? I like it! Good old Morrison
Fox You Forest Posted 24 July 2010 Posted 24 July 2010 So i take it you dont rate Dany N'Guessan then bert!!!!! He doesn't help himself, he's so lethargic it's unbelievable.
Guest NGoloMode Posted 24 July 2010 Posted 24 July 2010 I know Adams is new to right back but it just wasn't working today. Finds himself right wing when we don't have the ball leaving a huge gap at right back where he should be. He didn't have much to do defensively but I remember him miss timing a tackle horribly just outside the box giving them a free-kick. Campbell's free-kick was quality. I noticed he didn't look too happy when the City fans were chanting his name. They didn't look like scoring until we had the kids on in defence then the Oxford manager was telling his team to pile pressure on poor Tom Parkes and it worked first time they went down the right wing they scored. Great goal too. Our passing was great. Verma was the only player who couldn't find a team-mate.
Blue fox David Posted 24 July 2010 Posted 24 July 2010 Not the best game i've seen, but a draw was probably fair in the end. We were definitely better in the first half but second was quite poor. Weale- he did ok, looked a little shakey occasionally and had to deal with quite a few backpasses. Adams- definately not a right back, was caught out of position quite a lot and kept losing his man. Morrison- quite steady, composed and calm most of the time. Hobbs- more or less solid again (as always) apart from one minor mistake where the ball came at him in the box, and he sliced it over his own bar. Other than that, fine. Bruno- I thought he was steady and mostly solid down the left. Dyer- had a decent game- played most of the game on the right wing and was cutting inside on his left. He swapped wings with DJ on the odd occasion. Maybe should have scored if Fryatt had found him a little earlier. Wellens- looked more free going forward and was one of our best players. King- he was barely in the game really I don't think. DJ- took his free kick well, showed some nice skill and touches at times. He put quite a bit of effort in as well. 4 in 4 for him. Howard- played some good passes to teamates, but barely won anything in the air. Fryatt- looked a bit rusty still, was a bit too greedy but was reluctant to have a shot at goal most of the time. He often tried to walk it in. I thought Dany N'Guessan played well when he came on, took on and went round a few defenders, showed his pace and some trickery as well. Kennedy didn't really have a lot to do i don't think, except the Oxford goal did come from down his side. I thought Parkes was steady in defense when he came on, and Verma did well in midfield as well. Overall, I think we did ok, the passing football was good, but we gave the ball away to often. Also, when Oxford had a free kick, we had every single man back behind the ball. It was the same for corners, every player was in the box. Oh yeah and Constable NICKED one for Oxford...
Fez of Mahrez Posted 24 July 2010 Posted 24 July 2010 The Oxford announcer got Parkes and Kennedy mixed up. Parkes unfortunately made a couple of errors which led to their goal, but he isn't a left-back and he recovered well after that when he moved to centre-back. Kennedy looked okay. Anyway, I've written something about LCFC in general as a result of watching them today. It's a bit long, but feel free to give it a read: http://theseventytwo.wordpress.com/2010/07/24/leicester-adapting-to-sousa-style/
FoxyPV Posted 24 July 2010 Posted 24 July 2010 Quite a poor match overall IMO - we passed well but never really threatened their goal until the last 10 minutes when we seemed to step up a gear. Hobbs was brilliant - assured, controlled, passed well and was willing to break from the back up the middle. DJ had some nice touches and scored a good free kick but was on the periphery on the game throughout and seemed to be in it purely for himself. Kennedy was caught out of position for their goal but regained his composure thereafter. Fryatt needed to pull the trigger earlier and he may have had a brace but generally unwilling to shoot. Verma was alright when he came on. N'Guessan has the touch of a rapist but he was willing to take on the defenders and threatened their backline. Weale did well and was willing to speed the game up and get the ball out quickly for the counter attack.
Narborough_fox Posted 24 July 2010 Posted 24 July 2010 Was it a good decision to go to Toy Story 3 instead of the Oxford game?

Guest NGoloMode Posted 24 July 2010 Posted 24 July 2010 City Fans Adams at right back Morrison and DJ City fans again Adams, Morrison & Wellens
Narborough_fox Posted 24 July 2010 Posted 24 July 2010 You're welcome. Didn't need it, went to Toy Story instead
marbelladave Posted 24 July 2010 Posted 24 July 2010 Complete waste of time and money... Not sure what i was expecting but I thought we might get a bit more than a training ground exercise, I know it's pre-season but I kind off expected a few players to be trying to impress but this was nothing. No pressing, no tackling, no purpose, we could have had the squad jog around Belvoir drive passing the ball amongst themselves for 90 minutes. For what it is worth; Defense was a shambles, Adams for all his endeavour gets out of position so often he is giving Morisson a nervous breakdown, Hobbs still looks less than assured on the left and Weale looks like the Derby game is passing before his eyes continually. Anyone know, but can Vitor play on the left of Hobbs? Midfield was lightweight, neither King nor Wellens did anywhere near enough defensively, particularly obvious in the second half when Parkes and Kennedy were left hopelessly exposed by a largely absent midfield. Both Dyer and DJ wandered, swapped wings and looked dangerous, but only now and again. The rest of the time they were pretty much uninvolved, DJ's freekick was good, though the Oxford keeper was hopeless, but neither he nor Dyer were really effective. Up front Howard and Fryatt looked like Laural and Hardy, a 'big mam - little man' pairing so old fashioned they could have been in black and white. If we are going to play the ball on the deck then Howard is superfluous, Friatt on the other hand looks miles off the pace, lacking confidence too. Of the subs, Parkes and Kennedy looked jittery, though with no cover from midfield that was hardly surprising, N'Guessan was all over the place often playing through the middle, involved one minute, disinterested the next, he's beginning to worry me. All in all Sousa has a lot to do, defense lacks confidence, midfield lacks presence and up front we lack any kind of a threat, apart from DJ that is. But even he looks like he is playing to the gallery. Should have gone to Toy Story! Except I don't 'do' films...
