The O.S - Foxes Player

Has it really come to this?

You've got to pay to hear/read manager interviews. For example after the Rotherham game they put up a Sousa post match interview via video but no write up on the o.s.

I refuse to pay into this gimmick. I can understand having highlights of games available for those that subscribe but interviews are now being starved from the general fan population if you don't buy into their idea of paying for the privilege. It's ridiculous.

They'll be on www.thebluearmy.co.uk or the OS a day or so later anyway.

As said in my post above it's not the case.

I'm not overly bothered about it I just think it's daylight robbery that the club are milking the fans for information that should be freely available.

To be fair, all the interviews on foxesplayer are quoted word for word in the Mercury and quite often on the official site or radio leicester. You're not missing out on much believe me, I only pay for it because living away from Leicester for much of the season, its the only way I can listen to games!

I think it's scandalous that radio broadcasts of the game (outside of Leicester) and stuff like interviews are now pay per view. Just scandalous.

What do you want? A nationwide broadcast of BBC Radio Leicester? Every local radio network? I don't think it's too much to ask to pay a few quid a month to get access to local commentary wherever you are in the world, some good video exclusives and behind-the-scenes stuff. You get reports and interviews daily in the Merc and on their website (thebluearmy.co.uk) or on the BBC... so if you don't want to pay, don't!

Well that's what's normally available through the internet except when the football is on, considering the BBC Radio is funded by the Television Licence it's like being asked to pay for it twice.

When was the last time that a manager said anything remotely interesting or controversial after a match? :dunno:

That's irrelevant. Fans shouldn't be charged to have to listen to a basic interview.

If every interview is as mundane as you seem to make out then there's even more argument as to why there charging people for the privilege.

totally agree with this point, in fact surely re-charging you for bbc content when you have a licence should be against the rules? unless they argue that the service contains more content than just the bbc stuff? i'm always disappointed by the fact that digital radios dont pick up radio frequencies from further away, would be great they worked that way. mind you, when i was working in lincs for a while i still had trouble getting Radio Leics there which i wouldve thought would be within the frequency radius...

can we complain to the bbc watchdog (whoever that is?!)

Having moved to Norfolk I obviously couldn't get Radio Leicester on my radio but could via the internet of course. I was really pissed off when I found out I had to pay to listen to Radio Leicester's commentary. I pay my TV licence for the privilege of listening to Radio Leicester so why not City's commentary. Who gets the money for this anyway, City, the BBC, the Football League or some other organisation that doesn't deserve it? Having said that if City get 100% then I'm not so bothered.

But what about the fact that the BBC do not have the rights to broadcast live football coverage online unless through 5Live..? I'm sure that is stipulated in their radio broadcast contract with the FL (i.e. it is the same for every club).

Radio Leicester have it on, not sure if it will be online but if it is and as it's a friendly would surely be a global broadcast.

Ah, ok, thanks. I'll keep my fingers crossed.

Still doesn't excuse LCFC's inadequacies.

Correct. Radio Leicester buy rights to broadcast on FM and DAB, Leicester City retain the rights to online broadcast.

In short, it's not the BBC's fault.
