Ric Flair Posted 25 August 2010 Posted 25 August 2010 If this story had any real relevence then it would have been published almost instantly after the takeover was announced. Do you really think the Football League have only just heard the news that we are under new ownership and only now are kicking off about it? Having said that, if for any reason a spanner has now been thrown in the works then I fear for our season as Sousa clearly has no track record in the domestic transfer market and as of next week he'll only be able to sign players from this country, so it's vital 'Top' get's his hand in his pocket in the next few days.
filbertway Posted 25 August 2010 Posted 25 August 2010 So we have sent them some information but they want a little more? Sounds like it should be sorted well in time for the end of the transfer window.
bettso Posted 25 August 2010 Posted 25 August 2010 So the football league have taken 2 weeks to pipe up. Absolute nothing story.
haraven Posted 25 August 2010 Posted 25 August 2010 Incredible, do I have to travel our myself and do all the work in addition to cheering for this club? It's not really rocket science - follow the league rules, report the transactions and verifiy that there is liquidity, sign the agreed documents, await approval. Celebrate. I hope like Vålerenga says this is just a minor hickup but with our luck/incompetense you'd never know.

What fools they are not to understand them! Have you ever interacted with any kind of bureaucracy?
davieG Posted 25 August 2010 Posted 25 August 2010 Quite right, Rules and regulations are universally clear, well written and easy to follow. What fools they are not to understand them! Have you ever interacted with any kind of bureaucracy? How difficult is it to understand the pre-notify aspect? Although the deal was stated to have been done, with the club "acquired" on 12 August, at that point, no information had been sent to the league. That was an apparent breach of the league's new "owners and directors" rule, adopted just nine days earlier, which requires clubs to "pre-notify" the league in advance of a takeover of who the new owners and directors are, so they can be passed as "fit and proper" people.
Guest Bilo Posted 25 August 2010 Posted 25 August 2010 I'm not too concerned about the fit and proper persons test. The rules seem so lax that I reckon if Ian Huntley won the Euromillions and brought a football club from his cell he'd pass with flying colours. But I am worried that the FL will drag its feet beyond the transfer window and prevent us from making the much needed additions.
Edmund Posted 25 August 2010 Posted 25 August 2010 Didn't they or Mandy say they passed the test when they acquired the club
haraven Posted 25 August 2010 Posted 25 August 2010 Quite right, Rules and regulations are universally clear, well written and easy to follow. What fools they are not to understand them! Have you ever interacted with any kind of bureaucracy? Eh, yes. I stand by my original point, it is not rocket science. Sure there are things to consider, but that is kind of what I expect the people who run this club - who are actually paid to know these things. To put it simple; it is their fooking job to know this.
James. Posted 25 August 2010 Posted 25 August 2010 How difficult is it to understand the pre-notify aspect? This is my issue with it. It may be a non-story in that ultimately the takeover will go through fine but the apparent delay in submitting this "pre-notification" not only reflects badly on the internal controls and management of the club but also may cause unnecessary, avoidable delays which in turn could affect us in the transfer market. Didn't they or Mandy say they passed the test when they acquired the club I seem to remember this as well, yeah... The plot thickens.
unreachable Posted 25 August 2010 Author Posted 25 August 2010 Didn't they or Mandy say they passed the test when they acquired the club My post #3 refers to Q and A on OS which ambiguously deals with the point.
leftsideoverhere Posted 25 August 2010 Posted 25 August 2010 From the Merc (and yes, I know the Merc isn't always a reliable independent viewpoint, but still it's worth noting): Leicester City are confident that there will be no hitch in the registration of the takeover of the club. The Football League clubs voted in new regulations on August 4 about changes of ownership. These stipulated that the League should be informed in advance. However, the League recognise that there will be a bedding-in time for the new regulations. The takeover of City by a consortium headed by Aiyawatt Raksriaksorn was announced a few days after the new regulations were voted in. Click here to find out more! A Football League spokesman said: "We are in every-day liaison with the club who have provided us some of the details we require and we expect more to follow." It is understood that the League are comfortable with what they have received so far. A City spokesman said: "Leicester City both supports and welcomes the new rules implemented by the Football League and have maintained a constant dialogue with the League. "The club has submitted the relevant documentation regarding the proposed new directors and will continue to have dialogue with the League to ensure a smooth transition." Merc article They're not excuses, Davie, they're a pragmatic view of how business and bureaucracy interact in the real world.

Considering the Merc still peddles the 'Mandaric bought LCFC for £25mill I'll take whatever they print with a rather large pinch of salt, when did you last see anything in the Merc that was even remotely critical of anything to do with LCFC? The Merc has an exceedingly strong pair of blue tinted specs. As I asked previously how difficult is it to understand/comply the pre-notify aspect? Although the deal was stated to have been done, with the club "acquired" on 12 August, at that point, no information had been sent to the league. Dickie Greenleaf Posted 25 August 2010 Posted 25 August 2010 To be fair, that David Conn, whilst being a mind-numbingly boring (unt, usually knows what he's talking about when it comes to football and money matters
