Alexikokopops Posted 20 September 2010 Posted 20 September 2010 A colleague at work has had a death in the family. The usual thing to do is get some flowers and a card, but he's a guy and probably wouldn't appreciate flowers. Anyone got any other ideas for something we could get him? My imagination has been ruined by years of TV and internet.
Asha Posted 20 September 2010 Posted 20 September 2010 Take him out for a few commiseratory drinks, complete with toast to deceased relative?
ramboacdc Posted 20 September 2010 Posted 20 September 2010 a card, sympathetic ear and taking them out seems right.
Alexikokopops Posted 20 September 2010 Author Posted 20 September 2010 He's not going to be at work for a lot of this week, so we were looking to send him something before he comes back. Definitely up for taking him for a drink
James. Posted 20 September 2010 Posted 20 September 2010 Send him a hamper from M&S or Fortnum and Mason or somewhere like that.
Bellend Sebastian Posted 20 September 2010 Posted 20 September 2010 It depends on the nature of the bereavement, obviously, but if the departed died of a condition that has a charity associated with it, then a collection for that might go down well
Zingari Posted 20 September 2010 Posted 20 September 2010 good idea providing the person didn't die of cirrhosis of the liver

blue blood Posted 20 September 2010 Posted 20 September 2010 do or get him something that will take his mind off things and will cheer him up for a short time. I guess he will already be feeling crappy so a card will be appreicated - My friends dad passed on recently and me just going over, talking about other stuff like work, cricket, footballs some jokes etc was very much appreicated.
