sammorris Posted 1 October 2010 Posted 1 October 2010 Hello, I am a journalist from Stoke, and obviously Micky Adams has been linked with the job at your club. Although I think it is unlikely, I was just wondering if you have any views and opinions on Micky as a manager, and how you would feel if he was given the job. Would you want him? If not, why not? Many Thanks Sam
Guest Bilo Posted 1 October 2010 Posted 1 October 2010 Strikes me as the kind of manager who does well when backs are against the wall as they were when he was here, so he could do a job. It's a moot point anyway because he won't be coming.
dandannieldanok Posted 1 October 2010 Posted 1 October 2010 Love the guy, got so much unnecessary stick while he was here. After being embarrassed in the premier league by previous incumbents, he restored our pride, won our last game at Filbert Street, and then proceeded to get us promoted with a transfer embargo and nearly keep us up on a budget that you couldn't even call shoestring. Left us in the top half of the championship which wasn't good enough for the fans.....but look where we went afterwards and look where we are now. Glad to see him doing well at Vale......and not at all surprised to see him doing so well. Hope he can take Vale up.
Trav Le Bleu Posted 1 October 2010 Posted 1 October 2010 Did okay for us before, but I'd doubt very much he will be back and I don't think you can go back.
Guy Posted 1 October 2010 Posted 1 October 2010 I had a lot of time for Micky Adams, he was a nice bloke and did a sound job in steering us through the trying times of going into administration in 2002 and on to promotion at the end of that 2002-03 season. We were also very unfortunate not to stay up in the Prem. the following season under Adams with all the goals we scored that season - however if we scored 3 the opposition would match or better that tally in over half the games (much like it was just lately under Sousa!). There was also the infamous La Manga rape allegations with Scowcroft, Dickov, Frank Sinclair, Steffan Freund et al to contend with that season. In the end Adams had enough and resigned near to the start of 2004-05 Championship season to be replaced by the hapless Craig Levein - and we then continued on for the next three years in the Championship in much the same lowly fashion before the unthinkable happened in 2008, relegation! Unlikely that Micky would want to return either after that time with us......but never say never I guess........he's done well at Vale so far.

I don't think any fan would be excited by Micky Adams but also, we appreciate what he did here so he would be given a fair chance.

Pretty sure it was more to do with Keown undermining the players' confidence in Micky than our Championship performance, to be fair.

Corky Posted 1 October 2010 Posted 1 October 2010 Good manager, very good bloke but he's been here before and I doubt he'd come back.
