Thought at times in the first half Vitor looked like a competition winner who'd won the chance to play for his favourite team.

Absolutly spot on...couldnt find the right words to sum him up but now I have it . :appl:

From the game.

Ikeme. A thoroughly unremarkable performance from an unremarkable keeper, No obvious errors but does not inspire confidence, distribution is pretty poor too.

Vitor. For his first full game in the English league I thought he did very well. Probably not his best position but his calm, composed display was in stark contrast to the thud and blunder defending of the rest of our back 4. Did not offer a great deal going forward but in a 4-4-2 it was of little consequence.

Morrison. Much improved though still some way from his best. Did not communicate with Vitor all that well, understandable really.

Hobbs. Looking a bit more like himself, still feel he looks uncomfortable on the left, but was easily solid enough to see off a poor S****horpe attack.

Berner. Typically calm and composed, still not as fit as he should be so needed rather more help from the wide man as the game progressed.

Gallagher. Provided several of our better moments but the lack of fitness and gametime was obvious for all to see, disappointing really.

King. Not at his best, still playing too far forward for my liking, for a player who puts in all his best work in both boxes this is a waste. We need him in our box just as much as we need him in their's.

Wellens. Given a predominantly defensive role, he did ok. Not a natural defender in that neither his positional play nor his tackling is good enough he got by yesterday on shear combativeness.

Dyer. Played a fairly deep midfield role, which is a shame as he has next to no idea of what to do with the ball in deep positions. Still looked decent on the few occasions he got forward, good goal too.

Waghorn. Good opening goal, then by and large disappeared. Didn't run the channels, rarely got past Howard and didn't offer him much support either. Nothing like the player he was last season, not sure why.

Howard. The usual hugely combative performance, now with added captaincy! And as usual, completely unproductive. Great attitude, rubbish football.

Abe. Looked like it was all very new to him, which of course it is. Showed class one minute, gave the ball away the next. Great recovery pace shown on a couple of occasions

Moussa. Not on long enough to do anything more than look composed and score a cracking goal, looks like he could be a real player.

Powell and Stowell. The back to basics selection was probably about right for the day, gave the players a degree of confidence that we have not seen in a while. Considering they are collectively still a long way off the pace it got us a result deserved by our first half performance. Sometimes you have to take a step back to move forward, which is what I think happened yesterday,

Just got home from a great weekend in Leicester I was sat in SK3 Row JJ it the first time I sat that far back and it was great I think the hole five back rows behind me were aloud to stand for the hole game it was a great atmosphere , I knew it was Sven getting to his seat from were I was sat must have been 150 yards away lol Also i think Waghorn should have his own goal horn whenever he scores at the walkers

Ikeme 7........( Had no chance with the goal but was sometimes to slow with his distribution for counter attacks)

Berner 7.......(Did OK did not really get tested to much )

Hobbs 8.......( Was solid all game )

Morrison 8.. ( I thought he had a great game out muscled their attack all game long )

Vitor 6 ..........( Was disappointed by him , thought he ran a bit funny, slow of the mark sometime's but first full game of the season so ill let him off )

Dyer 8 ..........( was sold sort alot of the game but never stopped trying and great determination for his goal)

Wellens 7.....( Did OK, Solid in the middle of the park)

King 7 ..........( OK performance his long shots were a bit dodgy in second half tho )

Gally 5..........( i thought he had a really poor game apart from one or two decent tackles every time he got the ball he played him self in to a corner and let the ball slip under his foot a couple of times and it went for a throw -in )

Waghorn 9...( Great goal , Should of won a stone wall penalty at the end and missed a sitter one on one with the keeper but could of easily had a hat-trick on another day )

Howard 8 ....( Kept his cool really well , considering he was fouled every time he got the ball )

Subs

Abe 6 ...........( Played out of position on right wing and struggled with Vitor behind him but did OK , one great flick down the line took out two of their player I seem to remember )

Moussa 7.... ( Great finish for his goal )

Powell 10 MOTM.... Was great on the touch line all game and him cerebrating was brilliant especially the third when he ran all the way to the Kop end to hug the players and then hugged the lines-men PMSL classic moment :chant:

Ref 4....( Another shocking ref im starting to think that this is just the average standard this season because we not had a good one yet , Missed hand balls , freekicks , For both teams and did not give a stone wall peno on Waghorn near the end)

Ikeme 6.5 - Nothing he could do about the goal. Did waste some of his kicks but we got most of our chances from his long kicks down field.

Vitor 6.5 - Did fine, didn't get forward too much.

Morrison 8 - Very solid, some great headers. Starting to make amends for the Pompey debacle.

Hobbs 6 - Did ok, not the same as last year.

Berner 6 - As Hobbs.

Gallagher 7 - Unlucky to be taken off.

Wellens 7.5 - Brilliant pass for the second goal.

King 7 - Missed a good early chance and looked leggy. Always looked dangerous though.

Dyer 7 - Played deeper but still a menace. Tidy finish and did the right thing in looking to pass to Waghorn.

Waghorn 7 - Good finish for his goal but wasted a great chance in the second half which had a certain number 12 had missed would have had the Fryatt haters frothing. Clunky first touch but worked hard.

Howard 7 - A real mixed bag. Missed 1 standard chance and an open goal but won a fair deal in the air. Should have been taken off in the last 15 as he had nothing left in the tank.

subs:

Abe 4 - Thought he looked lost, the poor bloke. Surely Powell and Stowell's instructions were lost in translation, as he looked totally, totally lost. There was one farcical incident where he ran alongside as a Scunny player advanced 25 yards with the ball. Lovely flick at one point spared him a 3.

Moose 7 - Great hit.

Ikeme -6- Did OK, not much to do

Vitor -6- Not sure that he is the answer at RB

Morrison -7- More confident with a flat back 4

Hobbs -7- Same as Morrison

Berner -6- Adequate

Gallagher -5- Gave the ball away far too much, but better than Abe

Wellens -7- Combative display near the end when others were wilting under the pressure

King -6- Chased a lot, but not very influential

Dyer -6- More subdued than usual, but did finish off a good move

Waghorn -7- Great goal, should have scored again

Howard -6- Battled away as usual

SUBS:

Abe -4- A liability at right midfield, dithered & almost cost us an equaliser

Moussa -7- On only a short time, but looked bright and took his goal well

S****horpe: Josh Wright ran the show -- why didn't someone mark him tight?

I agree, Ok with him playing at RB it may have had someting to do with it - but he doesn't look like he has any pace,

for me Hobbs was very good and Morrisson was much, much better. Bruno seemed to have a better game, also he looks a lot more solid

than of late. The defence on the whole looked better but stll loads of room for improvement

Was it just me or did anyone else feel that King was a little below par yesterday?

Ikeme 6 - Did ok generally except for some sliced kicks again

Vitor 6.5 - Looked an improvement on Neilson and Lamey. Needs to get tighter to his man but is composed and good in the air.

Hobbs 7 - Generally solid although joined in the general panic at 2-1

Morrison 7 - Back to something approaching a good level. Wish he'd develop the ability, when under no pressure under aerial balls to nod the ball to a team mate, not aimlessly out of play or to the oppostion.

Berner 6.5 - Caught once or twice but ok performance

Gallagher 5 - Carrying a few too many pounds, didn't keep it simple.

Wellens 7 - He was decent, and certainly better than King but went completely missing from 60-85 when Josh Wright was absolutely running the show.

King 5 - Anonymous save for a simple assist for Moussa for the goal.

Dyer 6 - Not on the ball enough which waa frustrating considering he clearly had the beating of Byrne. Stayed narrow.

Waghorn 7 - Will get goals playing up front. Like most, flagged noticeably as the game went on.

Howard 6 - Won everything 1st half, less 2nd. Touch was heavy.

Subs

Abe 5

Moussa 6

Ikeme 5 (Didn't have much to do but his kicking was inaccurate and thoughtless, he rarely commanded the box and

I wasn't impressed at all).

Vitor 6 (Unconvincing to me. Not tight enough at times, not fast enough to pass the ball when he won it and showed a curious habit of turning his back on the ball when he sometimes went to head it.)

Morrison 6.5 (No better than average)

Hobbs 7 (Our best defender. Tight, no nonsence performance)

Berner 6 (I thought they were allowed to deliver far too many crosses from the right later on and he offered very little going forward.)

Gallagher 6 (Such sloppy ball control on occasions, rarely relishes a tackle and was largely just a Joe Average fringe player).

Wellens 7 (Industrious and committed as he has been most of the time when I've seen him this season)

King 7 (Simple but selfless assist for Moussa's goal and one or two delightfully deft passes that might have brought us greater reward. Almost scored with a header early on and created what might easily have been another goal at the end when he robbed their dawdling defender.)

Dyer 8 (One goal, one assist and a potential nightmare for Scunny had he been given more of the ball. Matchwinning performance for me).

Waghorn 7 (Much welcome first goal, nicely taken, but squandered a sitter and might well have done better on one or two other occasions as well. Ran out of juice well before the end like one or two others. But a constant danger for all that and should have won a penalty).

Howard 6 (Needs to convert his chances - he gets so many. Missed one seemingly certain goal by somehow screwing the ball right across the goal from yards out but should have got far more free-kicks from the way his markler was constantly climbing all over him.)

Subs:

Moussa 7 (Took his goal well and looked involved in his short cameo).

Yuki 5 (I've yet to be impressed. Played out of position today and seemed to be trying too hard to impress by taking too many touches and trying to be creative in situations that were far too risky. He's clearly got skill but is finding it hard to adjust to the sharpness of English football.)

Referee: Poor - and seemed to ignore instances of handball and at least one clear penalty. We really seem to be up against it this season when it comes to referees.

Powell/Stowell 7 (Chose the right side and got the right result but how hard they contrived to make it for us in the end. Not a performance to remember and I didn't see that Yuki's arrival added anything).

Overall: I don't know about trips to Thailand - we need to get much fitter and much more organised. Once again our free-kicks failed to find the target...it is such a waste...and we brought pressure on ourselves by fail to close down quickly in the later stages. There is so much to work on it's embarrassing for a professional club.

Waghorn scored against Norwich as well pal.
