A 3D Football Information Hub

Recommended Posts

Posted

Hi Guys.

I am creating a 3D information hub that will give football fans information in a completely different way to what has been done before. You will be taken into a 3D environment that you can interact with. There will be various little things you can do i.e. play a football game similar to fifa superstars, design your own kit, watch videos (these videos are going to be done in a modern and exciting way to give you football information in a more entertaining way), Listen to podcasts which aim to do the same as the videos. So overall the site will incorporate snazzy things for all ages and will give information in a completely different way to what you are used to.

What i would like you guys to do? ( you will have a genuine input in this project. ) is if you are interested in filling out just a few questionnaires over the next few months, and being part of a focus group that will have the opportunity to critically analyze things before it enters the official website then just pop your name in this thread and send me a PM with your email address. You will all be doing me massive favour by agreeing and if the site ever makes money commercially then i will be happy to discuss donating a percentage of profits to FT.

(mods if we have a genuine interest in this could we sticky it?)

The first questionnaire will be about what information you would like the website to supply you with and i will have it with you by next week.

Thank you in advance to those who help.

P.s Now seems a very good time to apologise to this forum for making not only a fool of myself but also being an embarrassment to the site in the past. My sincere apologies go out to those who i have provoked needlessly in the past.

Sounds confusing

Would you need to have 3D capabilities to view it though?

Sorry just to clarify. The 3D aspect of the site is not going to be as in the 3D in cinema. The 3D aspect is more like say a computer game environment. Something like this here. So the modeling is 3D rather then it actually popping out of the screen.

I dont think i have explained that very well but i hope you get the gist.

It will essentially be a 3D environment a bit like a game where you can interact with the things around you, and their will be little applications to play with in various places around the environment. I guess a bit like playstation Home if any of you have seen this, or second life. That sort of thing.

 Hope that helps. Sorry for the poor explanations.

Thank you to those who have so far offered to help. It is much appreciated.

No need for that, mate. We've all made nobs of ourselves before now.

It's only the internet, mun, you're all good.

Keep us updated with your progress! Be good to see. Good luck!

Cheers Finnegan for the support. I will make sure that you are all kept updated. Even though keeping this thread from falling into the bottomless pit of the second page seems to be challenge in itself.

jcn25 thank you for your email i did get it. Thank you very much.

Bookmark this page and just keep coming back to it.

I'm curious to see what you come up with.

Ditto, as I am still now the wiser to what a '3D Football Information Hub' is either - I wonder if it comes with 3D Chebs?

Well considering the Chebs thread is one of the reasons so many people come to Foxestalk, i could never go and make a 3D chebs website. It would detract too many customers away from FT.

An update:

The website will be a stadium which you can navigate around, dependant on the football team you chose when you registered then the stadium will be the colour of that team. There will be a results bar that scrolls across the top of the page which will show your football teams score first and your football teams league results follow that.

You will be able to click on the score board where your clubs league table will show up and all the latest news from your league and other news, as well as an option to watch a video that will summarise the news and a podcast that will do the same. Obviously which one of these you choose is dependent on the activities you are doing at the time.

You will be able to navigate into the stadium and inside will be a room where legends of your club will be painted on the walls(hopefully) and the room will be painted in your club colours. Inside this area will be an area to create your own football kit and also a possibility of a playable pool table and a football arcade game.

The idea of the site is to give you the information you need, in a completely new and revolutionary way!

Hopefully this clears up the confusion a little.

Cheers

Wow... Sounds great. Complicated though. Im making a website for my A Level ICT coursework but its far less complicated for that. What software are you using?

Using Autodesk 3ds max to create the 3D environment, then using swift 3d to change the 3ds max file into a shockwave file. Then using Flash and action script to develop the interactivity. Then the back end (this is what we call the database and coding bit at uni) is going to be done by either connecting flash to sockets which is going to be hard or using C# to link the user to the correct stadium dependent on their log in details.

It is going to be pretty difficult to achieve, it will also be one of the first 3D website to successful allow personalisation and interact with a database. In fact it will be the first i think.

last thing If anyone has any expertise in linking flash and actionscript to a database could they pm me.

Thank you

Just a quick update.

The stadium is beginning to take shape

Have bumped into a few problems along the way :( but hopefully this will not stunt the overall product.

Please note that this is only a blank draft.

If there is anyone else who is able to help i could do with a few more questionnaires being filled in, please shout if you have a few spare minutes and leave me a pm with your email address.

Thank you everyone for your help.
