demon_dog Posted 18 October 2010 Posted 18 October 2010 Yet again on Saturday we failed to score from a corner, (although we were unlucky not to) We must be currently the worst club in the whole of the football league for not scoring from corners. Under Martin O'Neill this was one of our strengths. So, when are we going to break our duck this season? Hope I've given you all plenty of choices.
StanSP Posted 18 October 2010 Posted 18 October 2010 Hobbs should have bagged at least 2 on Saturday from corners. They were so tame when the ball got to him. Whether he wasn't expecting it to reach him at the back posts or whatever, he should be ready to power them in. We've had about 80 corners or somewhere around that many and it's a worrying stat if we haven't scored from any of those directly.

Spot on, those 2 Hobbs headers were pathetic. 8 times out of 10 the delivery is decent - I just don't think the likes of Hobbs, Morrison (when playing) and Howard are attacking the ball with enough conviction.
m00nie Posted 18 October 2010 Posted 18 October 2010 im going to stick couple quid on davies for first goal scorer for the next few games as reckon he will get us one from a corner... defender so should get decent odds.... (33/1 for tomorrow)
MrSpaM Posted 18 October 2010 Posted 18 October 2010 We've had more corners than any other team in the english leagues this season, and havnt even looked remotly like scoring from any of them. If that dosnt ring alarm bells i dont know what will. God knows whats happened to Hobbs, Howard, even Morrison, he'd been heading them in for laughs past two seasons. It's getting to the point now where i'm already looking at the half way line before we take them because thats where it ends up 90% of the time
Adster Posted 18 October 2010 Posted 18 October 2010 Looking at how high davies jumped above a tall striker against hull i back him to get one from a corner soon
Kent Posted 18 October 2010 Posted 18 October 2010 Just seen a replay of Davies' chance from the corner on Sat. Was closer than it looked from where I sit, you've got to fancy him to bag a couple if he stays this season?

I'm not sure the delivery is usually decent. We put the ball in alright areas but it is usually floated in with no power so it is very difficult to get the necessary power on a header. I'd much rather see us whip a few in at pace. I think Davies will probably be the one to finally put one in too.
dandannieldanok Posted 18 October 2010 Posted 18 October 2010 The way Davies was going in the air, he'd have comfortably bagged those two gilt-edged chances Hobbs had. The delivery has been reasonable most of the time, just hasn't happened for us yet.
demon_dog Posted 26 October 2010 Author Posted 26 October 2010 Not looking to good is it? Last Saturday and yet again tonight we failed to score. Any ideas what the problem is? The guy who sits next to me thinks it's lack of height in our attack. I think it's down to poor delivery and lack of practising set moves for corners. Your thoughts?

The guy who sits next to me thinks it's lack of height in our attack. I think it's down to poor delivery and lack of practising set moves for corners. Your thoughts? I'd say lack of practice (not that I know what they've done in training). But even if they tried something different, it might work. Maybe practice a few little routines during training and implement it in to matches if it's successful. You see teams do it all around the leagues. All we've done is just pump balls in to the box in the same area. We never try anything different. Very rarely do we see a move build up from a corner through a short corner tactic or something creative like that. We lack creativity in our play, and not just from corners; it's all over the pitch.
