The Year Of The Fox Posted 21 October 2010 Posted 21 October 2010 On the far right of our away suppot in the upper tier the other night about 6 rows from the back, 2-3 fans were really digging into Waghorn, calling him all sorts. When the waghorn waghorn chant went up, these 3 responded by yelling 'shit, shit' What planet are they from? We all know Waghorn wont be the next Kaka, (was going to say Rooney, but that wouldnt be fair on Waghorn) but Jesus! Did these lads know a thing about football, or were they Leeds fans pretneding to be Leicester?!
Dan Posted 21 October 2010 Posted 21 October 2010 To be honest he's had a lot of expectation to live up to with his pricetag and he hasn't been worth £3mil yet, but he didn't even have a bad game for crying out loud.
Jimmy Posted 21 October 2010 Posted 21 October 2010 I was relieved that's all you were complaining about I thought you were going to be talking about people chanting about the Istanbul stabbings

I dont agree with abusing any player of ours but I just wonder if you'd have been equally outraged if it had been someone else they were having a pop at? Not saying you personally, but certain players are beyond reproach in some fans eyes... Waggers being one of them. I personally dont rate him that highly (another Hume IMO runs around a hell of a lot but isnt acheiving a great deal) Some players appear to be 'fair game' and others are not allowed to be criticised at all? Just playing devils advocate....
Swalker Posted 21 October 2010 Posted 21 October 2010 He hasn't yet reached the level he was at last year but don't forget he has only just been played in his correct position and he hasn't had the summer games like everybody else. However, he had a great battling game against Leeds battling hard and created some good chances. It is just a matter of time until he reaches his best again
Fosse Boy Posted 21 October 2010 Posted 21 October 2010 I was relieved that's all you were complaining about I thought you were going to be talking about people chanting about the Istanbul stabbings Well let's just agree that they're all a bunch of nonces.
lcfc_jme Posted 21 October 2010 Posted 21 October 2010 We paid over the odds for him and he'll probably never even live up to that price tag whilst he's here. He is, however, a very useful player to have in the side and won't let many defenders have an easy time of it. His presence will be notably missed more when we play an unfit Vassel and Static Messiah in the same team in a couple of weeks against a giant CB pairing. Absolutely nothing to do with the people at Leeds, just providing a different and purely (at this stage) hypothetical slant on things. In a roundabout kind of way.
Dickie Greenleaf Posted 21 October 2010 Posted 21 October 2010 2-3 fans in not knowing what they are on about shocker.

Jimmy Posted 21 October 2010 Posted 21 October 2010 playing the lone striker role is notoriously difficult, especially for a young striker like Waghorn, he really needs a Heskey type along side him to allow him to be a predator in and around the box

Just playing devils advocate.... Personally I've never booed any player playing for a team I support. Even Cashley Cole. I agree though there are some players who may be deemed beyond reproach. Think its unfair to compare Waghorn to Hume. Waghorn is younger, and showed us just how good he could be last season. I think its a disgrace that anyone should boo somone playing for their side- the closest I came to booing was Oakley at Derby last year. Waghorns still so young, but a great prospect. Anyone ever thinking that single handedly he was going to get us promoted this season knows naff all about football. £3m is a lot, but the price tag certainly matches his potential. He had a good game against leeds, and was one of the only ones looking half fit during the last few minutes. He held the ball up well after running it towards the corners, surrounded by 2-3 players each time. Lets be realistsic. We should be grateful we have so many quality young players in our side, I hope Sven recognises this, and doesn't flood us out with 30+ year olds
crisp monster Posted 22 October 2010 Posted 22 October 2010 maybe they were aiming it at the waghorn chant. It's got to be right up there with the 'theres only one phil gee' as one of our most crap songs ever! Any budding song writers out there?

Boom! and Waggy Oi! as well. But obviously shouting any more than two syallables over and over again is beyond most of our fans.
Fox92 Posted 22 October 2010 Posted 22 October 2010 I hear this near enough every game, people shouting stuff at players. I thought it happens all the time like.

One word chant that could be quite anthemic. Either that or to the tune of 'Hot Stuff' by Donna Summer Standing here freezing my ass off City Waiting for the goals to come Get the ball into the box now City We've got the guy to turn it home Give the ball to WAGHORN He'll score with his left foot WAGHORN, will score with his right WAGHORN, will score with a header Doesnt matter if the match Is in the day or the night
