nickelbyfox Posted 22 October 2010 Posted 22 October 2010 If 2 were relegated, then 3 would come up from league , then maybe 4 come up from league 2 and the various leagues below! Would be a real shame, but a very interesting affair for the football league to sort out. Suppose only good thing is we could have the loss against them removed and a cheeky bid for Liam Lawerence
The Doctor Posted 22 October 2010 Posted 22 October 2010 If 2 were relegated, then 3 would come up from league , then maybe 4 come up from league 2 and the various leagues below! Would be a real shame, but a very interesting affair for the football league to sort out. Suppose only good thing is we could have the loss against them removed and a cheeky bid for Liam Lawerence one less relegation spot, same amount as usual coming up from league below - think one extra promotion place for every league below that, but the football league/fa know how to deal with it, same thing happened to chester last season.
cav1989 Posted 22 October 2010 Posted 22 October 2010 Just seen this on sky news, All set for messiah mandric, also with the confirmation of the takeover last night by the league, seem likely. Administrators for Portsmouth FC are set to close down and liquidate the club. The club has issued a statement saying it faced going out of business unless a deal with former owner and creditor Alexandre Gaydamak and prospective buyer Balram Chainrai can be struck. But this has been described as "impossible" in the statement. Portsmouth were relegated from the Barclays Premier League amid financial strife last season. They were docked nine points for falling into administration and have been struggling to lift themselves out of the situation since. It was revealed in April that Portsmouth owed a combined total of £38.2m to previous owners including Mr Gaydamak and Mr Sulaiman al Fahim, out of a total debt of £119m. The statement says the Football League plus Mr Chainrai's proposed new company, administrators and legal advisers have made "extensive efforts" to keep the club in business. However the club said Mr Gaydamak had today requested a "very significant" cash payment to be made, and that was refused. Portsmouth called it "a ransom payment". Should the worst-case scenario unfold, Portsmouth would become the first Football League club since Maidstone United in 1992 to go out of business.
MPH Posted 22 October 2010 Posted 22 October 2010 so, back on topic..... i'd give it a week before MM declares himself as their messiah.... Would be a real shame, but a very interesting affair for the football league to sort out. Raj Posted 22 October 2010 Posted 22 October 2010 When MM leaves what will it leave us with regarding the knowledge the new owners have regarding Engish football??? MM leaving may not all be as great as we think...
JoeS Posted 23 October 2010 Posted 23 October 2010 Hopefully, Sven won't easily be messed around, I bet the owners will do everything in their power to keep him
fox123 Posted 23 October 2010 Posted 23 October 2010 When MM leaves what will it leave us with regarding the knowledge the new owners have regarding Engish football??? MM leaving may not all be as great as we think... What does MM know about English Football? Look at his track record! Milan seems to pick up a club when it's on it's knees and sell it on when he has deemed them in a better position, he did the same with Pompey. I'm sure they were on verge of administration when he took over from them, got them in the Premiership - with a decent manager not by spending loads on players. I just hope that these Thai people have more business acumen than the wankers he sold Portsmouth to!
davieG Posted 23 October 2010 Posted 23 October 2010 I thought Manadaric has a large share in the consortium, no? I read during the initial transfer of ownership that he still had a share though not a controlling one. They may not wish to buy him out yet if this is the case. today's merc But Mandaric has been asked by the Raksriaksorn family to remain as City chairman, even though he no longer has a stake in the club following a 100 per cent buy-out by the consortium.
Thracian Posted 23 October 2010 Posted 23 October 2010 You say Sousa then Eriksson like it was a given! Bottom line - they turfed out a manager that was doing great things for this club and put in an unproven manager who ultimately failed. If it was stricly about the club and the fans then they would have kept Pearson and gave him the financial backing, but it was more important to them to have an international brand. Luckily we have been able to recruit Sven who will no doubt be able to turn things around from their first mistake, but saying they don't hold some blame is not correct in my book. If you don't hold any blame against Mandaric and the Thais then fair enough - we'll have to disagree I don't see that Pearson did or would have done great things at all. He was too cautious and functional, not in any way concerned with building an entertaining team. Even in our promotion season we didn't shine - especially second half of the season. In fact we were embarrassingly unimaginative at times. Some of our performances at places like Barnsley, S****horpe (and more) City were shocking in every way and an insult to the travelling fans. As for his attitude with the media, no thanks. Like it or not the media are a vital part of the circus that is football. Treating them with contempt, without very good reason and alternatives, is just an own goal. As for Sousa there's no way of knowing what he'd have done in time and it doesn't really matter now..

Stoke. Blackburn. Bolton. You don't have to be pretty to be in the Prem. Not for one moment saying Pearson WOULD have taken us up, but questioning his potential to do so because you didn't find his football exciting is a little bit daft. Not exactly like MON had us playing like Brazil, really, eh?
unreachable Posted 23 October 2010 Posted 23 October 2010 today's merc I was just listening again to Ian Stringer's interview with MM on Radio Leicester and it seems that MM is a member of the Asia Football Investments consortium. MM acknowledged the fact and Stringer said that MM is a member. I guess we'll have to wait and see.
