filbertway Posted 26 May 2005 Posted 26 May 2005 The bradford fans seem to like him, he seems a decnet age. I hope he's good for ur.
Fez of Mahrez Posted 26 May 2005 Posted 26 May 2005 I think this is a decent signing, good age for a keeper, impressed a good few clubs and obviously won't start the season as first choice.
TrickyTrev Posted 26 May 2005 Posted 26 May 2005 I don't think we will have compettion for places in the goal keeping position. As we are running on a tight budget we will have to have a a well paid number one and a cheap understudy who knows his role. I don't think this is a bad thing. Goalkeeper is the one position you want to keep steady and where you won't need a replacement that often as they don't get injured or suspended very often. Hopefully this lad is good enough to wear the number 1 jerzy.
Hazza Posted 26 May 2005 Posted 26 May 2005 Well i went and asked on another forum where there seems to be an influx of Bradford fans and have so far got this response: "I am not just saying this, he is fantastic!! one of the best keepers i have seen in league football! you have got a good one there!! He even saves penilties!! Some of his saves have been outstanding this season!" Sounds quite bitter at him for leaving, so i'm sure he's better than that
Frenzied Posted 26 May 2005 Posted 26 May 2005 By all accounts this sounds a very promising signing. Lets hope he is as good as he is being hyped up to be.
Jonbluefox9 Posted 26 May 2005 Posted 26 May 2005 Well Bradford are in a worse financial position as us and he's had to compete with the Jamaican international keeper for their no.1 spot. I'd imagine he'd be on about £2,000 or something like that a week and should have no problems competing with another keeper CL brings in. 29 isn't a bad age for a keeper and i wouldn't mind a bit of competition, as it's pretty much been Walker as the no.1 if fit in recent years. 115460 Yeah too bad we let Coyne go though. He would have been a ready made replacement for Walker.. 115464 I'm glad we let Coyne go I never rated him. Hopefully this Henderson won't just be another mediocre backup. 115604 I agree with you. Coyne wouldn't accept the one year deal to begin with, held out for two year deal and then asked to leave one season into his two year deal. Put me right off him as a person and I wouldn't want people like him at Leicester City.
Ajax Treesdown Posted 26 May 2005 Posted 26 May 2005 Seen him play a lot at Bradford and he is a quality keeper, who will easily challenge for being number one keeper. Good signing Craig!!
Guest Posted 26 May 2005 Posted 26 May 2005 Let's hope he's as good as they say he is; he can't be any worse than the last Aussie keeper we had.
MON Posted 26 May 2005 Posted 26 May 2005 Good signing Craig. Let's give up on Doulas and spend the wages on trying to sign Lewis Price from Ipswich.
Louise Posted 26 May 2005 Posted 26 May 2005 I assume he's just going to be 2nd choice 'keeper, so I can't get too excited about this signing as we'll probably never see him
hinds12 Posted 26 May 2005 Posted 26 May 2005 my best mate is a huge bradford fan and he is devistated to see him leave! he said that he was a fans favourite last year. sounds like good business to me. well done CL.
step Posted 26 May 2005 Posted 26 May 2005 MB was very clear that CL is still after Rab. But Henderson went to Bradford as their second keeper and soon earned himself the number one slot. so if Rab is a crap as we hear then there is no reason why Henderson wont do the same again

It bothers me that some managers are completely blind to certain signings, yet fans who often don't know that much about football compared to managers can see they are crap. It appears Levein is desperate for Douglas, the same with de Vries. I mean don't get me wrong we can't be too picky, but when you've not got alot of money you should spend it wisely and Rab's too much of a gamble. Do I not like the sound of Rab

Do I not like the sound of Rab 116053 I think it's important to wait and see what Douglas is like; that is if we sign him. I've heard from a lot of people that reallly rate him, as does MON, Levein and Walter Smith. Even many Celtic fans rate him but say he's prone to the odd rash mistake. But how many keepers aren't? Look at David James for example; he's made no end of high profile howlers but still maintained the England number 1 top for years - ahead of Ian Walker. If it turns out Douglas is poor then we have what seems to be adequate back-up.
Knighton Matt Posted 28 May 2005 Posted 28 May 2005 i think with the news that niemi is likely to be moving to celtic to team up with strachan that are chances of getting douglas are probably enhanced as he will more than likely be surplus to requirements. add this to the signing of henderson and you can see how levein is going about improving the QUALITY of the squad. at the beginning of last season our goalkeeping 1-2 was walker and fatty pressman. potentially at the beginning of this season it might be douglas-henderson. nice work craig i definitely know which combination i'd rather have! B)
Hazza Posted 28 May 2005 Posted 28 May 2005 Well the bad news is Henderson's kicking is said to be poor If he's as good as Taylor was in making up for that then i'm sure he'll be alright though.

It bothers me that some managers are completely blind to certain signings, yet fans who often don't know that much about football compared to managers can see they are crap. Or maybe fans think they know more than they actually do. As Frenzied said, some very good managers rate Douglas so they can't all be wrong about him. I think it'd be a good signing to be able to get a Celtic keeper to come to us after finishing below midtable in the second best league in England. We're not a top 10 Prem side now. I've spoken to a couple of Celtic fans, one is a season ticket holder, and they both said that if we signed Sylla and Douglas we'd have two good players on our hands. Rab does make the odd error but keepers' mistakes are always highlighted more than a midfielder's as they are the last line of defence. I can't believe how much some people are against him already before they've even seen him play at our level of football.
