Foxes Face Pools In FA Youth Cup

Posted on: Mon 06 Dec 2010Leicester City's U18s Academy side will face Hartlepool United U18s in the FA Youth Cup at the Walkers Stadium on Tuesday December 7th, kick-off 7pm.

Tickets for this game are on sale from the main ticket office of the Walkers Stadium, priced at just £3 for over 18s and just £1 for under 18s.

Speaking exclusively in his weekly blog, Leicester City first-team star, Andy King, offered his support to the next set of youngsters coming through the Foxes academy.

"I want to wish all the best to the academy for their game on Tuesday night at the Walkers Stadium, against Hartlepool United in the FA Youth Cup third round. Kick-off is at 7pm so get yourselves along and give the youngsters your backing."

Hartlepool earned the trip to Leicester with a 2-0 win at Macclesfield Town U18s in the second round and Leicester City Academy Manager, Jon Rudkin feels that his players will be looking forward to this fixture.

"This competition provides a good opportunity for the players to experience playing at main stadias as part of their development. At this stage of the competition all the games will be very competitive as clubs look to progress further."

He added: "Hopefully the City supporters will come along and back the lads as they always do."

Can't make it up there from Barnet for this one - but i'd love to if I could. Let me know how they get on chaps and please don't shatter my delusions that Jeff Sclupp is the next Lionel Messi!!

Hmmm, considering this for the sake of a quid or two. Depends how cold it is later, but I'd rather sit in the cold than watch bloody Man U Valencia match that my flatmate will.

1-1 at half time, SCHLUPP

The pressure finally told just before the break when Norburn found Jeff Schlupp who did well to get into a shooting position. He fired a low drive from the edge of the box, which took a slight deflection to evade the diving Downing to level the game.

After missing a one-on-one chance, Schlupp made amends two minutes from time to secure City's passage into the fourth round. A superb through ball from the left wing was latched onto by Schlupp, who neatly controlled with his left foot, before slotting under the keeper with his right from 15 yards.

Goal: Leicester City 2-1 Hartlepool

We do poorly in the Youth Cup every season, for some reason, the league is a different matter completely.

Different age restrictions in the cup, so some who play in the league miss out.
