Kitchandro Posted 2 January 2011 Posted 2 January 2011 Fair comments. I personally thought it was brilliant when some of our fans started singing One Man Went To Burn, even if it wasn't technically correct. The Fosse Boys are a bunch of fans trying to help in improving the atmosphere, not some chant police. If it's an unfamiliar song, which it will be to most younger than me seeing as it hasn't been sung on a wide scale for ages, then people are going to get it wrong. Most in the Fosse Boys are fairly understanding of that and happy that people are singing something that's straight off the Filbert Street terraces. Just because we're familiar with it thanks to the input of some of the older Kopites within the group doesn't mean everyone will be. I wouldn't take too much notice of what's said on the FB forum, we're far more idealistic on there than anything else and if anything it's more like the online equivalent of sitting round a pub table and exchanging banter. As a group, we'd be delighted if the One Man Went To Burn song was re-introduced to the consciousness of City fans, it's one of our songs and sounds great with a good few voices behind it. Certainly a lot better than the Who The **** Are Coventry song that doesn't make any sense. Well sorry if I was a bit rash, like I said I respect what you guys are trying to do and it'd be great if K and L block would broaden their horizons song-wise as well as the atmosphere spreading around the ground. I agree with you about the who the **** are Coventry song, I find it a bit annoying. The only one that I find embarrassing and refuse to sing is the Yuki Abe dog chant as it's just incorrect.

Amen Ridiculous song, it just isn't factually correct. The only songs apart from that I don't join in with are the Dave Jones or Clough ones when we play Cardiff and Forest/Derby respectively.
Guest Bilo Posted 2 January 2011 Posted 2 January 2011 I can understand that, making the best of what you've got I can get. Also, if we're singing a song and you don't know the lyrics, just ask, it's how we learnt a fair few of the ones we sing now. Yep, exactly. A lot of our songs are from the 1980s and earlier, obviously too long ago for most of us to remember, but we've learned them from the older Kopites and adopted them as our own. That's what we as a group feel a fan culture should be, originality along with respect for the heritage of the club, not nicking songs from other fans because you like the sound of them or because you heard it on Soccer AM. Obviously you make the best of what you have, we'll often join in with some of the less traditional or original stuff away from home (Eriksson's Blue Army for example) but some chants are just lazy, artificial or plain crap. This isn't a problem unique to us to be fair though, some of the crap we've heard on our travels is far worse than our support. Near silence at Swansea and casual racism at Bristol for example.
lestajigs Posted 2 January 2011 Posted 2 January 2011 How about........... Fack off fose boys, fose boys fack off!!! No bit to plain and simple I think!!! Are we still in the hull thread!! Ha ha

The one about Clough is a lot worse when we play Derby in my opinion, seeing as his son is on the touchline.
Bugg Posted 2 January 2011 Posted 2 January 2011 Yeah anyway, back to the game. Couldn't go to this one today, but from the radio it sounded like Hull never really threatened our goal which is a good sign considering our abysmal defensive record away from home, thought from the sound of it the the front three of Gally-Vassell-Dyer worked well and gave us some good pace up front. I'm surprised Moussa hasn't been given more games if I'm honest though as he looks like he has potential to be a star and has impressed me in the few games he played this season.
BoneDog Posted 2 January 2011 Posted 2 January 2011 and as you can see, it was mental in our end!!!! I see lildave is standing up again at the match. Bloody rascal!
Mee Posted 2 January 2011 Posted 2 January 2011 I can see where the 'Fosse Boys' and the rest are coming from, but at the end of the day, a song is a song, and we are all 'Leicester fans' together. Whether it be a Fosse Boys song, or a 'Who are you', it generates noise. I respect 100% what the Fosse Boys do at Home games, i genuinely wish you lads the best of luck. If we all didn't care about what songs we sang, the noise would of been louder. As Bugg or Bilo said earlier (Sorry, can't remember), the Clough song was disgusting. That is a step to far, but just singing 'Who are you', when the Hull fans were replying as well surely is ok? I can see where people are coming from when saying that the Fosse Boys are the 'Chant police', but i know they aren't meant to be perceived as that. We just have to remember it should be sectioned as 'Fosse boys' and 'Everyone else'. We should just be the Leicester Support and go with the flow surely? As i said earlier, i have 100% respect for the lads, this isn't meant to be a rant about the Fosse Boys (If you perceived it as that).

Guest Bilo Posted 2 January 2011 Posted 2 January 2011 So was the match any good then? We're not talking about it any more, so we were good. FT Rule No. 1: We only talk about a match for more than 12 hours after the final whistle if we were particularly bad, disappointing, average or outstandingly good. Professional and/or workmanlike performances will result in short post-match threads.
Mee Posted 2 January 2011 Posted 2 January 2011 So was the match any good then? Sorry man, was replying to the 'debate' on the last few pages . Back on topic then - The match was good. Never felt that Hull were even close to be threatening. We were by far the better team, it felt like something had clicked with the up front partnership yesterday. Dyer should have netted, but i think he thought he was offside. Morrison looked like he had some confidence finally.
Karljohn Posted 2 January 2011 Posted 2 January 2011 Caught their KCFM radio station on the way home, one or two calling for Pearsons head, Pearson said it was their worst performance of the season so far. Game reminded me of Barnsley away in that they were completely clueless, could have improved our goal difference considerably yesterday but happy with 3 points and clean sheet. Hope Greg Cunningham has a speedy recovery.

I fully support making the atmosphere better and have my preffered chants but I am happy to join in with some of the more generic chants if it improves the atmosphere and those around me are singing them. I was not with the Fosse Boys yesterday as I was with the lads off my coach who are mostly older fans in their 40's and 50's. We sang old,new and generic songs and sometimes a few joined in and sometimes the whole away end reacted. I started 'the doug'' song and was joined by one other to sing it in it's entirety, nobody was bothered we were the only 2 people who knew the lyrics they just let us sing it and we weren't seen as elitist. The point is everyone around where I was sang what they wanted and joined in when they wanted and we all got on famously as we are all Leicester fans. Away days especially all the singing fans need to get together and start some noise and sing whatever boosts the atmosphere, this obviously does not include racist chants but left side, right side is just fun as another has said, no harm done by it.
